So A&M wants $55 million from the state.  So that's how they're going to pay for their new football coach.  Write a check and hope the funds come in before it's cashed.  Hopefully our state legislature will say no.

Does anyone still have that breakdown that used to float around of the House's break down by college alumni affiliation?

I'm guessing the athletic department is going to float the acedemic side any money.

Paying back what it’s botrowed over the past 15 years would cover a lot of the 55 million...I hope the leg asks for that to happen before they even consider additional funding.

Why would it? The academic side is an afterthought to Aggies. The priorities are a) football program (focusing on how much their coach is paid and how high their recruiting class is ranked), b) their alumni association, c) everything else tied for last

It's like a Soviet 5 Year Plan over there.  Focused on inputs not results and obsessed with quantity while completely ignoring quality.

I remember that aggy tried pouring resources into becoming a tier 1 research university about 20 years ago.  Just never realized how far they swung in the opposite direction when Plan A failed.

Well, Texas has been donating $$$M from it's athletic "profits" back to the academics side for years.  aggy, on the other side, who claims to be the richest bitch around, has borrowed from the academics side, and has yet to get that paid back,  and still hasn't come around to give back to the school.....and now...now...Not-So-Sharp, goes begging to the legislature for mo money.   Uh...no.

Aggy is more of a search university. As in they like to search the desert for relevance.

But they are Tier 1, aren't they? Or is this the wrong metric: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_research_universities_in_the_United_States

If you owe someone money and pay back part of what you owe, is that really considered loaning them money? Isn’t it really just paying back some of your debt to them?

Yes, aggy is tier 1 - just like UTEP, UNT, Tech and Cougar High.  They succeeded in the immediate goal but failed in their real quest.

The "failed" part was thinking that would make them a peer of THE University of by God Texas.  So they went the Joe Stalin route (quantity has a quality all its own) in their next Wile E. Coyote like attempt.  Just like the guy from Wham! who said they were bigger than the Beatles because they had more band members.

Also research spending per capita is part of the formula for determining which schools qualify as tier 1.  By pursuing virtual open enrollment policy, aggy is endangering that status and what was once presented at the top goal of their college.  The only constant is their penis envy.

Do you have a link to the proof aggy has not paid back the $16 million interest free loan?  I remember seeing it once.  Thought you might have it.

$12.5 mil now

Since 2006, for a variety of reasons that included the Aggies’ transition from the Big 12 Conference to the Southeastern Conference in 2012, the university had loaned roughly $16.4 million to the athletics department — and according to Toole, the outstanding balance remains about $12.5 million.

So, at this rate, aggy will have fully paid back the loan to their academic side in a shade under 55 years.

If of course, they haven't bankrupted their "university," which seems highly unlikely. Unless they start selling Brawndo to their mouth-breathing fanbase.

This shit pisses me off. Those stupid fucks think they get to just buy their way out of bad decisions using daddy's credit card. Nut the fuck up assholes. You puff out your chest and talk about how you're the greatest university in the state. Well, fucking prove it it, you little bitches, and handle your shit yourselves.

The Tech and Baylor reps on the floor should lead the charge.  aggy going after us on the way out was never a risk, but Baylor and Tech would have been the collateral damage.

Maybe it's time to float the Constitutional Amendment for divorce.

Someone that knows the lege, who are the most tenured Baylor and Tech people in the house?

The athletic side needs to pay back their loan from aggy academic funds. The athletic side needs to match The University of Texas in funding the academic side of their university, before even being in consideration for additional funding from the Texas Legislature. That's not even fair considering their lowering of academic requirements and bloated enrollment, but it's where they need to start.

And remove their school from overseeing the hurricane funds.

The state lege need to fund all other schools but aTm with the additional 55M.

How many millions has UT donated to the academic side since Aggy has joined the SEC.

richest in the land and all of that right?  What did they pay for a coach last year?

Sumlin buyout - 10million

Assistants -1-3million?

Jimbo buyout -5-7 million?

current Jimbo - 7.5 million

Current assistant coaches -1-3 million ?

2018 minimum of $24 million dollars to lose 4 games and play in the Tax Bowl.

*forgot 3rd place finish in SEC recruiting. Whoop
