Our AD has hired 2 coaches so far, and both are slam dunk hires whatever that means.

A&M's AD has hired:

Lara Kuhn (volleyball)-17-13 in her first year and didn't make the NCAA tournament.

Andre Gaston (women's golf)-Not ranked in the top 25 while Texas is ranked #2.

Jimbo Fisher (football)-9-4 in year 1. Played in a shit bowl.

Buzz Williams (basketball)-hasn't coached a single game at A&M yet.

It's hilarious he's already considering these all slam dunk hires. Mike White and Edrick Floreal (two hires by CDC) are likely going to have more accomplishments in year one than any of the hires made by Woodward.

You do know they lost to Clemson right? Show me where Texas has a quality loss like that.

Brian Perroni ranks best football / Basketball coaching combos.

Round out the top five after Michigan State and Texas A&M are Michigan at No. 3, Notre Dame at No. 4 and Oklahoma at No. 5. Mandel finished the top 10 with Duke at No. 6, TCU at No. 7, Purdue at No. 8, Syracuse at No. 9 and Kentucky at No. 10.

All of the schools have had serious national success in at least one, if not both, sports. With A&M ranking so high in that group, the Aggies should be primed for a run on both the gridiron and the hardwood.

LMAO

Buzz is a good coach, but the guy has only been to one Elite 8 and no Final Fours. You're crowning the guy before he's actually acomplished something great.

I wonder if any of aggy's 9.95 buffoons are even familiar with what Shelby Metcalf actually accomplished. There's zero chance aggy will have another coach Metcalf's equal in any of our lifetimes.  Back when basketball in Texas was hamstrung by ridiculous UIL regulations, he took a bunch of no-name scrubs and made a couple of sweet 16s with rosters most mid-majors would laugh at. Should have beaten Louisville in 1980, but, you know... aggy.

Anyway, no Texas fan would make the argument, but you just know if the coaching lineups were reversed... well... Herman has an NC as a coordinator, and Shaka has a Final Four... you put those factoids in the aggy computer and watch something get enshrined on the wall.

What are you suggesting? Surely not that they'd do something ridiculous like give him a national championship plaque with the year 20xx,  right?! I mean,  not even aggy is that fucking stupid

Sounds like someone that has to take solace on the hires because in their lifetime they have not experienced a single major sports championship. On the other hand, this century alone we have gotten to experience championships in football, baseball, volleyball and a basketball final 4. Damn must suck to be an aggy.

The fuck national success has Harbaugh had?

Getting his ass beat by OSU on national TV?

Scott Woodward has only proven he will overpay for above average coaches, nothing more. He's probably an average to slightly above average AD, but combined with the "genius" that is John Sharp and the lackeys on A&M's board of regents almost guarantees that they will underperform all of the "expectations" that are being thrown their way.

In 10 years, which athletic department will boast more success? The Fenves/CDC led Longhorns or the Sharp/Woodward led aggy collective. I have a feeling I know where the "sharps" would bet and it wouldn't be on Sharp.

#2 in another completely hypothetical, meaningless ranking, eh?

Howdy, birch.

To be clear for everyone...Brian Perroni, a graduate of Texas A&M university, has created a ranking that miraculously places his Texas A&M Aggies at number 2.

I have not read the article, but surely he clearly identifies himself as an Aggy alum and provides a thoughtful and intelligent rubric for how he determined his rankings.

Wait, what? From 2000 on the aggy haven't won a conference championship in Football finishing in the Top 10 once. In Basketball they won their conference once and appeared in 3 Sweet 16s. What kind of rankings are these?

It's worse than that. Perroni is quoting an article by the ever gullible Stewart Mandel. Those are Mandel's rankings. He thinks A&M has the second-best football/basketball coaching combination in America.

If I were Randolph Duke, I'd compile all the times, all the dozens and dozens of times, Mandel has said fawning things about A&M. It is extremely tendentious-- as soon as you read that it's going to be a list of subjective "best/favorite" stuff, you know Mandel will include A&M.

Meh, who gives a flying fuck about rankings with this bullshit.

Wins and losses, that’s it. That’s obviously not in the aggy way of thinking, so it doesn’t work.

Wrong, sip fehg birch.  Quality losses are most important.  Or loss-wins if you will.
