Good God, they open with Abilene Christian in 2020? That's embarrassing.

Dude, do you know how tough the SEC schedule is?  They don't get play push overs like Maryland and USC...they have to play Arkansas, and Ole Miss, and Kentucky.

Y'all remember how we joked back in 2011 that when the ags left the B12, they were going to cut themselves off from the state of Texas and have extreme difficulty scheduling premier Texas teams to play?  We joked the only teams they'd be able to schedule would be Texas State and North Texas?

Well the joke's on us, because who knew they'd somehow impress the mighty Wildcats of ACU enough to convince them to jump on the schedule??

Not according to Dabo.  Dabo's not buying that secsec "grind" they talk about:

"Convince" = $1.3 M.

Dabo nails it:

Quote

"I keep hearing that Alabama was worn down by this gauntlet they went through," Swinney said. "I'm like, 'What game did they get challenged in?' And the response is, 'They played in the SEC.' Well, we played Alabama, Texas A&M and South Carolina, three SEC teams, and one of our toughest games was Syracuse.

Historically, they are more likely to lose both of @MissSt and @Auburn than they are to win both. I have seen no reason to believe that is likely to change.

Arkansas will not be down indefinitely. A&M has beaten them every year since they joined the SEC, I think, but prior to that Arkansas owned them. That's been a W they could take for granted, and that may still be the case this year, but Arkansas won't be 2-10 / 3-9 forever. Honestly the trend already defies expectations, which is a nice way of saying A&M has already been lucky in that series.

So for the fist two months of football they only leave the state three times?

They have the audacity to bitch about not hosting an SEC home game until November with that patsy ass fluff schedule.

The majority of their conference wins stem from Arkansas and South Carolina. They're 7-0 vs Arky, 5-0 vs South Carolina and 18-26 vs the remainder of the conference including 1-6 vs Bama and 1-6 vs LSU. They've padded their win total against the soft competition in the SEC. They have a losing record against every SEC West team with the exceptions of Arky and Ole Miss who they're 4-3 against. Basically the aggy are 11-3 vs the bottom dwellers of the SEC West and 9-20 vs the rest of the west.

They'll never challenge themselves to be better, because they are so focused on making it easy by playing patsies. They still haven't figured out how they start off strong every year and lose to all of the good teams on the back end of their schedule.

Their attendance will be dismal for those games, which will affect their bottom line.

It's fine. Got Jimbo!

This is fantastic. Let me say it another way: in seven years of competition in the SEC, A&M has won 30 conference games. More than half of those (16) were against Arkansas, South Carolina, and Mississippi combined.

Someone alert Mr. Umlang, that's a pretty good stat to share with the CFB world.

Combine that with a heavy dose of FCS and G5 in the non-conference schedule.  It's the only reason they're even bowl eligible most years.

aggy pretty much defines Delusions of Adequacy.

OK!

A&M has won 60 games since joining the SEC. Of those 60 wins, 16 were against the mighty triumvirate of Ole Miss-Arkansas-South Carolina, 16 were against G5 opponents, and 8 were against FCS opponents. But even leaving its weak sister conference mates out, 24 of A&M's 60 wins have come against G5 or FCS teams. 40%. Loadin' up on dat bread!

Leon's gonna be so great ...when he's not running 3rd string

If dear Leon is "on the verge of becoming a superstar," wouldn't logic dictate that those he will have to battle with are already superstars? With the exact attributes Leon is supposedly trying to refine?

The guy doesn't have the mettle to deal with his impending meltdown, when he has to come to grips with the fact he is just another guy who couldn't live up to the hype, and that his moment of significance in life on a larger stage is over.

Leon's slap in the face with reality is just waiting to make his acquaintance.

interesting question, has anyone ever heard of a kid who hated Texas A&M because it didn't recruit him?

like we get stories all the time, and always have, about kids Texas didn't want or wanted to position-switch, guys that are described as diehard Longhorns who don't get recruited and just want to GIT REVENGE on big bad ol Texas for being so mean to them...

...but I don't ever remember hearing a single "spurned by A&M" story in the 35 years I've been aware of their miserable existence

I was a pretty good half miler in high school.  I loved Texas and dreamed of running there.  The problem was that I was not "Texas" good.  So, I ran a couple of years in junior college, got a job and payed my own way without loans or grants through Texas. Point is, those guys that were not recruited probably didn't love Texas as much as they thought they did.  If so they would have found a way.
