Not sure why A&M would be labeled an underachiever.  They've performed at exactly the mediocre level that they're known for.  Aside from a brief Fedex-fueled interlude in the 80s, the past 30 years is wholly representative of the stature of ag football.

I've got bad news for you... The 80's don't fall into the 30-year window.

Of course.   Poorly placed modifiers on my part

Their current 30-years of performance, are representative of the rest of their performance, aside from Fedex Jackie's stint in College Station.

The point remains, you'd have to believe that the Fedex years were the norm, rather than an aberration, to think that their current performance represents underachievement.  We all know that it does not.  They haven't "achieved" anything in the past 80 years, so currently they are performing exactly as should be expected.

I’d like to think that aggy is highlighting her for her accomplishments….instead of being an aggy student so that somehow a&m was the reason for her accomplishments.  Not sure if other schools congratulated their athletes for Olympic success….NTTAWWT.

Pretty much every school touted their athletes’ Olympic success. It’d be a pretty inept AD marketing not to highlight students and alums that achieved at that level. Texas’ athletics Twitter is pretty much nonstop Olympian congrats over the past couple weeks, as it should be.

Their paltry achievements relative to their resources.  They're a big school in a hot bed of football recruiting, whose alumni and students care deeply about football, yet they've never done jack squat.  Biggest underachiever in college football history and 2nd place isn't close.

Exactly.  They might have resources, but they have no idea how to apply them.  They are aggy.  They will always be aggy.  Nobody cares.  There's no truth at all in calling them underachievers, when in 80 years, they have achieved exactly what they are supposed to-- nothing.

What about all those science research findings and break-throughs to help man-kind and improve the world.....oh... never mind.

That uni is far too aggy to be real...seems like something Adidas designers came up with to troll the gomers.

I really really hope it is real, and hope Kent states knows aggy acknowledges the "real" tragedy back in the 70's. Them durn National guardsmen can't shoot for shit..67 rounds and only 13 hits?

Many have aggy in the Top 10, but I've set their over/under at 3.5 losses leaning towards 8-4 at best. They always regress to their historical mean.

Not since 1999 has aggy had two consecutive seasons with a winning record in conference play.

Think about the teams they have had to lose to in order to make that record of futility a reality.

Against conference opponents, struggled to finish above .500 for pretty much a quarter of a century.

Longer than aggy’s “16 losing seasons in 17 years” run of ineptitude.

Never underestimate the ability of Texas A&M to shit the bed.

A lot of things have been said about the Texas A&M Football team since the conclusion of the 2020-21 season but this one may be a first — at least for a large media outlet. In a CBS Sports article reacting to the most recent Coaches’ Poll, which came out earlier this week, Barrett Sallee referred to the Aggies as one of the most overrated teams in college football at the No. 6 spot.

Other overrated teams on the list included Notre Dame at No. 7 and LSU at No. 13. He did seem, however, most enthusiastic about calling A&M overrated. Here’s what he said.

“Look, I get it. Texas A&M was in the College Football Playoff mix all the way up to the final release of the rankings last winter. That has given Aggie fans around the country a false sense of hope that this is the year they break through the glass ceiling and make the CFP. That isn’t going to happen.”

Maybe this is the big season they've been waiting for?
This season may be their only shot at it in the next 80+ years...not sure a single offseason will correct all of the stench wafting from most of the SEC West outside of Bama.

Having said that, while they wont be the only team breaking in a new QB, they will be one of them. If we and blowU find a way to join the SEC for '22 their window of opportunity closes quickly.

Serious question - is there a chance aggy is shown the door by the sec at some point after we join? We bring a much bigger tv footprint in texas and a more affluent fan base. At a certain point they are just dragging down everyone else’s payout
Nope, they got lucky their first season..beat Bama and added a Heisman (fwiw) to the SEC. Vandy, Miss State, Scar, piggy, mizzery and even Ole Miss havent won anything truly notable since they've been SEC (rebs SEC titles were before most here were born) yet they still wear the patch. Tenn is still clinging to success from the 90's, and aggy is good at selling themselves as perpetually being on the cusp and actually getting some people outside their gomer bubble to believe it. That's more than the other schools I named have done.

Edit- Kentucky exists for basketball, and even mighty Jawja hasnt won a national title/Heisman in more than 40 years.

I mean they have a pretty easy schedule again. So they may just fall upwards with a few breaks. :/

No

Like it or not, aggy is still a Top 20 "brand" by most objective metrics. With almost 70k gomers on campus and thousands of east TX wannabes they're easily the 2nd most important property in TX. Vandy, Mizzou, UK, and both MS are less important to the SEC.

They are building a fighting force of extraordinary magnitude. They forge their tradition in the spirit of their ancestors. We have their gratitude.
