Tell Me About Texas a&m

Fuckin this.  Did band freshman year at osu before I got a job, and remembered hearing all about the corps when I visited their campus a few years prior.  So was stupidly legit excited to see wtf they were so proud of as we spent a lot of time each week working on shows for home games.

At least a third of them didn’t even have mouthpieces on their instruments and it was this giant got damn block that shifted 15 yards, folded in on itself like a game of Snake on a Motorola Razr, and generally just sorta ambled back/forth.

Having been a USAF brat who didn’t grow up around sports in the south, it was my first real clue that Aggy was a unique specimen to be studied and pitied.  On the flip side was impressed by y’all’s band on the road trip here that year.

So off topic, are there really a lot of directors who still in 2022 want to March at half time in a square like aggy and not to mention a few others? I don’t get it.

Aggy comedy just writes itself.  Who could have thought that they could screw themselves so bad that they lock themselves into a Jimbo twist for $100 million dollars?  DAFUQ?  Then they constantly brag about their #1 class, spend millions of NIL dollars on it and to just watch it all implode is just pure comedy gold.  This level of incompetence is truly once-in-a-lifetime and to see it happen to such a bunch of fucked up shit-bag wing nuts is priceless!

How can they not see this?  Delusional groupthink?  Aggy incompetence?

Yet, we can all see it coming miles away.

Stop saying NIL dollars for their class. Maybe you can show me the blue bell commercials?

The Texas A&M football team is now 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in SEC play, and news about the program seems to be getting worse by the day. But we may have reached a new low this morning. According to sources, Aggie mascot Reveille X has been suspended indefinitely following a violation of team rules. While unconfirmed, the rumor is that that Miss Rev urinated on the floor of Head Coach Jimbo Fisher’s offense.

“Rev knows she made a mistake, but we’re working through it. She’s a good girl,” Fisher said. “We just have to execute better. She’s gotta go outside better and we’ve gotta coach her better.”

Reveille was a member of the 2019 recruiting class, and appeared at every game for the Aggies over the past four seasons. Given her leadership role as the highest-ranking member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, this outburst is particularly disappointing.

The first Lady of Aggieland will continue her official university duties, but is banned from the Bright Football Complex as well as Kyle Field. It’s unclear who, if anyone, will take her place on the sidelines this Saturday, but it’s good to know we have options.

UT ranks as No. 1 Texas university in 2023 U.S. News rankings

The University of Texas maintained its ranking as the No. 1 university in Texas in the 2023 ranking of the top global universities by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News ranked 2,000 higher education institutions in 95 countries in its annual ranking on Tuesday. The ranking is based on 13 indicators that largely measure a school’s academic research and reputation over its undergraduate or graduate programs.

In the new rankings, UT ranked as the No. 23 university in the U.S. and No. 43 in the world — the same worldwide ranking it received on last year’s list of more than 1,700 universities in 90 countries.

'The Best Global Universities rankings offer prospective students a valuable resource for exploring higher education options outside of their home country,' said Robert Morse, chief data strategist at U.S. News. 'Over the past nine years, these rankings have expanded to include more schools and more subjects, while maintaining a consistent focus on institutions that prioritize academic research.'

UT was once again the only university from Texas to rank in the top 100 schools, although 21 other schools from Texas made it on the list. The other top schools in the state include Southwestern Medical Center-Dallas at No. 133, the Baylor College of Medicine at No. 136, Texas A&M University’s campus in College Station at No. 148 and Rice University at No. 180.

Fifteen subjects at UT ranked in the top 50 worldwide, including arts & humanities at No. 24, materials science at No. 25, mathematics at No. 25 and geosciences at No. 26. Nine additional programs were ranked in the top 100.

Last month, in a separate ranking exclusively of U.S. schools by U.S. News, UT ranked as the 10th-best public university in the nation and No. 38 overall among the nation’s top universities. The national rankings focused more on the undergraduate experience, including graduation rates, undergraduate academic reputation and faculty resources.

There are 281 U.S. schools ranked, with the same three schools taking the top spots from last year. Harvard University was listed at No. 1 overall, Massachusetts Institute of Technology at No. 2 and Stanford University at No. 3.

quote: Saturday’s flop was A&M’s third consecutive loss and its 8th in its past 14 games vs. FBS opponents, and despite some slapstick moments it didn’t introduce any new plot lines that haven’t already been thoroughly exhausted in that run. The offense (still) stinks, languishing at the bottom of the SEC in both yards and points per game. The quarterback situation, allegedly Jimbo Fisher’s specialty, is (still) untenable. The blue-chip personnel is (still) playing down to relatively mediocre competition. The remaining schedule is (still) a slog. Fisher is (still) not relinquishing play-calling duties, at least not anytime soon. Midway through Year 5, his overall winning percentage is (still) virtually identical to Kevin Sumlin’s. And, yes, as if you have to ask: Fisher’s big, fat championship-or-bust contract is (still) a historic burden that all but guarantees his job security for the foreseeable future. It is (still) among the worst deals ever signed in a sport notorious for handing coaches lopsided contracts, and getting worse by the week. Parting ways before the end of this year would cost A&M not one penny less than $85,950,000, a truly obscene number that (still) demands to be written out in full. There’s no loophole for losing, no brilliant TAMU attorney about to burst into the room with a novel idea for getting around it. (If there was anybody like that around, ideally they would have stopped the deal from going through in the first place, or at the very least the extension that solidified Fisher’s position without him even asking.)

I will be floored if resigns. He has nearly $90M left on his contract.

I always believed "stupid is as stupid does", but his contract is so far beyond stupid that it scares me to think the people who gave it to him are in charge of ANYTHING.

Who was the poster who as recently as a few weeks ago was still telling us the aggies were building a monster?

To be fair, they have built a monster… unfortunately for them (and fortunately for us) it has torn free and is rampaging through their locker room.

Holy fuck:  "the most morally bankrupt staff and program in America."

What's funny about that is to get that recognition this bunch had to go above and beyond the Sumlin crew that had an actual strip club in the coaches' lounge...
