Tell Me About Texas a&m

The interesting thing to watch for in the aggy/Bama game isn't going to be the spread, it will be whether aggy gets out of there without another serious injury to a LB or DB. They are already so thin at those positions, one more significant injury and it will create opportunities for teams for the rest of the season that aggy isn't going to have the roster depth to counter.

The ags are yet again proving that those with small minds are unable to see the big picture.

The absolute worst outcome for aggy this Saturday would be playing a relatively close game while losing another DB and LB for the season due to injury. If that happens, the roller coaster would have found its apex.

I don't think there is any question whether the Alabama D can hold the aggy offense in check. The Bama O will pick on the aggy LBs and DBs all game long (Hurts is going to have fun on Saturday. Saban isn't going to risk Tua getting injured).

If Bama goes up by 28, Elko has to protect his starters at LB and DB for the more winnable games and the Bama 2s and 3s on O have a field day against them, getting much needed reps.

Jimbo theoretically could keep this game within the spread, but only by risking far more than he would gain in the bid picture.

Randolph the other position is RB. There is zero quality depth at RB. If Traveon should get injured, there will be no threat of an aggy ground attack and defenses will have a field day in the backfield. The life span of an aggy QB will become significantly shorter.

i don't see saban running up the score on jimbo. gotta keep the score close to keep pumping up all of those overrated sec teams for later on down the road.

Not intentionally, but Saban will want to pull his starters as soon as he can to avoid a senseless injury in an already won game. When the Bama 2s and 3s get in, it will be their opportunity to shine and they are going to play much harder than the beaten down aggy starters, or the aggy backups.

Saban won't be scheming to run up the score, but the talent mismatches will be there. He didn't want to run up the score on Ole Miss, and look what happened in that game.

Bama's leading rusher had 62 yards. Tua didn't even have 200 yds passing. They played their 3rd string QB and their 4th string RB. They only punted twice. Their D had 22 players with either a tackle or an assist, including their entire third string defensive backfield. They had one kid who registered in the stat sheet (Stephon Wynn) who isn't even listed in their 3-deep.

Jimbo needs to get out of there with no injuries, get some younger players exposure at the speed of a really good team, and stress fundamentals on every play. He needs to just survive and claim a moral victory.

You obviously aren't a gambler.  No coach in CFB loves covering the spread more than Saban.  He does it religiously.

If you want to play a fun drinking game, print out this Alabama depth chart and every time someone 3rd string, or below, makes a play against aggy on Saturday, take a drink of your beer.

My guess is even seasoned drinkers will pass out by the end of the game.

I love how that aggy equates beating Bama (in a regular season game, no championship involved) with heavyweight champs, the 1980 USA hockey team and a Superbowl victory..

Edit- I guess there there was a championship sorta tied to 2012, that is if you count Bama simply shurugg8ng it off and going on to win the whole damn thing.

Alabama has always had the defense and a great punishing offensive game, but I don't know if Alabama has ever had this level of a passer in a long time.  Tua can already make many NFL throws that need great anticipation, vision, and accuracy.  They seem so far much more explosive than some of their other great teams.  I am skeptical Clemson (at least right now) is really close to Alabama and I would be surprised if A&M can keep this under a 25 point gap.

Again this year, I think Georgia is the only team that really has a shot at hanging with Bama. Maybe LSU or Auburn scratches an upset but even with 1 loss Bama will be in the CFP.

Also - while we're talking about unis, couldn't help but laugh at "in honor of their OUTSTANDING 11-3 season in 1998"

It isn't oustanding when you lose 3 games you fuckwits. Especially when one of them is to your biggest rival.

Imagine calling ANY UT season where we lost to OU "outstanding"

Article from 2017, newest I could find.

Coach Saban’s overall against-the-spread (ATS) record at Alabama is 75-62 (54.74%).

Well, it is the last time they won a conference championship.

20 years ago. In the BDF. WHOOP!

Saban could go undefeated with a minimum margin of victory of 55 points and find a way not to be satisfied right up until the NCG was over. He is putting public and private pressure on his team to do things to the texum bulldogs that are illegal anywhere except the football field and 2 or 3 third-world failed states.

They play Arkansas as well.

Arkansas is a non-factor, especially after getting punched in the face by UNT this past weekend. Would be kind of funny to see the Hogs somehow fall ass-backward into a win over Bama -- and finish the year with 4-5 wins.

how much you want to bet that Bob also believes the typical Aggie bullshit that the 2012 A&M team was "as good as anyone in the country" and/or "woulda won the national title if we'da stayed in the Big 12!" etc etc, while simultaneously thinking it was an historic upset for that A&M team to beat Bama?

seems to me it's one or the other

this week I'll take Alabama 52-15, but only after a very slow start-- I doubt they'll be up by more than 10-14 at halftime and then the third quarter will look exactly like the last 57 minutes of the Ole Miss game

would not be surprised to see A&M try the TCU kickoff return fakeout, seems like the kind of shit Jimbo would borrow thinking it's super clever

There was a thread on texags earlier this year proclaiming the coming out party for Daylon Mack since this is his senior year.  After three games, two against directional schools from Louisiana, the former 5 five star DT has recorded one solo and 3 assisted tackles per ESPN.  I am pretty sure I can trip over my feet and fallen down on a rusher once a game and get credited with an assisted tackle.

Yeah but you could probably play more than 5 plays in a row.
