If you’ve been to the Chicken once you’re forgiven.

If you been more than that you’re, well, you know what you are.

I know that from the outside you can't understand it, and from the inside you can't explain it... but can't somebody from the outside explain what these idiots are doing in this pose?

Most of my cousins are Ags and I've never come across this dumb shit.

My family immigrated to Tomball in the early 1840s back when it was still the Republic of Texas.  Somehow every generation of my family avoided the Ag plague like the plague until my cousins two kids somehow became superfans so I blame the education system degradation that Gen-Z got.

Which commonly mentioned candidate do you hope A&M ends up with

honestly Dan Campbell...because i think he jumps back to the NFL at the first opportunity and the CFB game != the NFL game.

so the most real option is Elko at this point, then Traylor. Feldman threw in Jon Sumrall from Troy (blurb below)

don't want Klieman, Leipold,

i don't think Lanning or DeBoer or Norvell are reasonable candidates

idk if Urban's shtick works anymore at the CFB level with the transfer portal and he doesn't want to go to College Station anyway.

idk where they really go from here, don't think the smaller names make sense or have the splash. don't think they get the huge names (Lanning/DeBoer/Norvell in this situation)

i don't think Liepold or Klieman or Traylor have the name recognition they want. same for Glen Schumann.

Elko makes the most sense. if he says no they may be actually fucked.

Traylor/Sumrall blurb from Feldman

Spoiler

Group of 5 head coaches

Two Group of 5 coaches who might get some consideration here are UTSA’s Jeff Traylor and Troy’s Jon Sumrall.

The 55-year-old Traylor won a bunch of state titles as a Texas high school coach and is beloved there. We could see him getting some traction at a big Texas college. He has done well in San Antonio, going 29-8 the past three years, but we do wonder if Texas A&M brass will think he’s a big enough name to compete with Saban and Kirby Smart.

The 41-year-old Sumrall has been awesome at Troy. He’s 20-4, including last year’s 12-2 debut and top-20 finish at a place that had been struggling. He’s a terrific recruiter and has a great ability to connect with people and a commanding presence. We believe the former Ole Miss and Kentucky assistant will be a big-time SEC head coach before too long. Sumrall was at Ole Miss, by the way, when A&M AD Ross Bjork ran the Rebels’ program.

Maybe you're so used to Aggies because of your cousins you were blinded by it?

I get that A&M is doing crazy shit right now, but I can't see them paying the $20mm buyout for Lanning and then giving him the $11mm or $12mm or whatever per year required to get him away from Oregon. While I'm sure they're talking to Lanning, I think that buyout ends up being a non-starter

I want aggy to buy the fanciest, most overpriced car on the lot. We all know it doesn't matter which one they pick, they are gonna drive it into a ditch anyway. That's the ethos of being aggy...old army, good bull, all of that horseshit always end up in abject failure. So whip that out that small prick Bjork, and show the country who's boss. Make that 15 year contract a reality.

The blowback would be glorious - a known scumbag no other school will touch for a school so desperate to win they'll admit via the hire that they really only care about one thing:  relevance

The fact that this is a shitshow and the tickets to the show were 76M+staff buyouts is lost on some. That was just the beginning, the real show hasn't even started yet.

The real show started over 100 years ago, it just has an infinite number of acts.

Yes, he's good. Maybe he's started a HOF career. All I'm saying is that he's not -- as things stand on 11/13/2023 -- possibly the NFL's MVP to this point. That's absurd.

Yes. TexAgs has been intimately involved in the operation of their athletic department since its inception. They’ve made the decision to hire and fire coaches before.

TA, and especially Liucci, have not made the decision to hire/fire coaches in the past. They're simply Pravda for the aggy athletic department. Has their input/data perhaps influenced athletic department decisions in the past? Perhaps. But Bjork or Sharp isn't calling Liucci to ask him what they should do with regard to hiring/firing somebody like Jimbo.

An Aggy def set those odds. The field vs Kifin is almost 1/1.5 odds.

Dan Campbell went from playing 11 years in the NFL directly to coaching in the NFL the last 14 years. Currently has the Detroit fucking Lions at 7-2 and leading the NFC North. They're 14-4 in their last 18 games. Why would he go coach at aggy now?

Obviously for his undying love of the fightin' Texas aggies*.

Dan Campbell being mentioned for the A&M job is like Kyle Shanahan being mentioned for the Texas job

Kiffin is leading the pack?!? Do you reinvent yourself and exceed expectations at FAU and Ole Miss for aggie? I know the money will be insane, but if you don't get the same bonkers guarantees (without an offset) that Jimbo got, do you do this? Kiffin will eventually get a top tier offer. It would be reckless for him to make this move.

To me, this is Elko vs Traylor.

Wouldn't the AD have had to talk to a bunch of donors to cover the buyout? Wouldn't they have said "okay but you have to go too you fucking moron." Or are there really that many rich aggy who are fine just torching their cash into jimbo's bank account?

What you need to understand is that "aggy doesn't take a shit without forgetting to wipe their ass."

This.  I'd prefer Elko as he's falling on his ass right now.  Traylor has a lot to like, but it's a far stretch from UTSA to aggy and the SEC meatgrinder and fan expectations.

Half the guys on this list will get nice pay raises just by having their agent insert themselves in the conversation.

aggy hiring Kiffin is about as likely as them hiring me to be their social media guy...Half the aggy I know absolutely hate him for his ruthless and hilarious trolling of them.

For Campbell to take the job he'd have to pull a Petrino- no not banging a secretary and getting his ass kicked by her fiance- but bail on an NFL team during the season.  Should have been career suicide but coaching is a crazy business.  These things won't happen because in the first case there's not a guy in the building that's not on the roster that would have a prayer against Campbell in a fight , and in the second case because he's actually a competent NFL head coach

Didn't he just lose a double overtime game on the road against a ranked team while having to start what was originally his 3rd string QB? I don't think you can call what he is doing at Duke as falling on his ass.
