Elko is the pragmatic reasonable and likely best choice for them.  I'm not sure I apply those attributes to Sharpe & Bjork.

If it is Elko my expectation would be he brings Johns & Santucci over but would restore Robinson to DL/co-DC/AHC title to keep him around.

There’s 0.0% chance that happened. This is the same as this BS posts from visiting teams.

They walked with Bjork as he ran into them on the way into campus. They were lost, but he kindly showed them where to go and really rolled out the red carpet. As they walked into the stadium they were taken aback by the sheer number of die hard aggies and all of their kindness. They shared a long, warm embrace, and then the MSU fans whispered softly into Bjork's ear.. "You know we would win if Leach were here."

Threatened the tu power structure is one way of saying got busted for rampant wanton cheating just not sure I've seen that dialect used before.

they should have never fired Sherman - he should have just hired an OC and they would have been set. The O-Line he built there was dynasty level shit.

why would Kingsbury go from NFL HC back to a coordinator position in college?  I think Kingsbury could def get another head coaching job in NCAA

I don't think they know. I think they thought they could get a splash hire with incentives (they can't) and quality second tier guys on the way up (like Traylor) are going to want guaranteed money at places where expectations are high. That leaves them with reach guys who will disappoint the base and BMD's will turn up their noses at, or big name retreads with major baggage.

i still can't believe Bjork still has a job. would have made more sense to fire Bjork into the sun, hire a real AD, give Jimbo another year, fire him into the sun, have your new long term AD hire the new football coach. would have saved a dump truck load of money too.

Bjork has put them in a real pickle. They should have put up with Jimbo for at least 2-3 more years to work some of this off or get the BMDs to put up money for a buyout. As is, the coaching search will drag for a while, and either he's going to let them down with what they wind up with, or they are going to wind up stroking a big check for the new guy. Probably both.

Yeah him not having an offensive coordinator was definitely what cost him the job.  He had a viable NFL starter at QB and a really good OL in 2011 and how Mike Evans didn't see the field that year is an all-time head scratcher.  There was no way he was going to stay 5 seasons and he should have gotten some action with Swope drawing the double teams.

Had a conversation with a friend who has gotten involved with ATM over the last decade as he's made a fortune and donated. He helped land Fisher and the 2022 class and has been involved with "NIL". He's whip smart and a very likeable person, but he's also a killer in the business world and a full-blown red ass. He got a call to help out on the Fisher firing and told them he'd help if they'd open up a matching amount of money for academic scholarships and fire everyone involved with Fisher's contract. They decided not to take his money this time.

Color me (not) shocked. aggy isn't into accountability.

Or academics.

As far as Kingsbury goes - I can't imagine that they'd hire as guy (as HC) that Tceh fired.

I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t really matter who they hire because the institutional idiocy of aggy will pull the new coach into mediocrity, whoever it is. Go ahead and hire Deboer or Urban or Dabo. It literally doesn’t matter. The sleeping giant will continue sleeping.

There is no external coaching force strong enough to overcome aggy inertia. It consumes everything it comes into contact with and destroys coaching careers along with their dignity.

It's like "the Nothing" from The Neverending Story.

C'mon, KK is true redass texum aggy!  He developed Johnny Football!  He was copilot of the Swagcopter and co-authored WRTS!  He OC'd aggy to an 11 win season (6-2 in conference) and tied for 2nd in the SECW!

To be fair Sherrill had to cheat like a muthaphukka to keep up with SMU (see: Dickerson's Trans Am) to get aggy to their norms while the SS Rum Runner got handed the keys to the kingdom by their only recent coach who knew how to assemble an offensive line but didn't know how to build a viable coaching staff to manage them.

The thing about the ags boosters is they think like message board posters and I would bet money the big moneh contingent is thinking their hire should earn the contract through incentives. They also can't pay the buyout and a big name coach so I could see a world where they hire a Fisch type guy and boast about a first of its kind incentive laden deal that will be the new norm and have all the big media fawn over the ingenious deal they just made. That's until that guy doesn't hit any of those marks or he's poached before he does and gets a big guaranteed deal from a top 5 job.

They love those incentive contracts and I do too, but they don’t work the way these fools think they do. The point of them is to avoid the stupidity of expensive extensions for a single good season. So unless you’re hiring an ingrate, the contract is going to be at minimum competitive to the market. If the median for the top schoools is $8m (just numbers for talking) that’s the starting point, so maybe you’re in at 4 or 5 years at $8.5. The incentives sometimes are stupid. $100k for a bowl appearance. Huh. Win 6 games to go to a minor bowl that is a money loser? Nope. If expectations are what this yo-yo says then it’s $500k for an SEC Championship and a mill for an NC. Done. And no autoextension for 10 years at $12mil with a 10% escalator each year.

I'm having a difficult time figuring out where you would drive to from Oxford to find civilization in Mississippi.

You can go to the casino in Choctaw. Drive to Memphis and get murder death kilt. Go to Tupelo for Elvis shit or buy a recliner. Stay in Oxford and go see drunkass William Faulkner stupid shit.

Only spent one evening and a half a day in Memphis, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Rendezvous was overrated, but Payne's was delicious; and the Civil Rights Museum was really well done.

Paynes is the prototype for great pork barbecue. I started eating there when the great Horton Payne was running the pit. Went to school near there and ate there at least once or twice a week for four years. Rendezvous is a tourist trap. You may be murdered at either.

There is a faction that wants Kingsbury and no one cares. There's a faction that doesn't want Traylor. I don't know how much those groups and guys like my friend all overlap, but NIL at ATM is highly likely to be taking a hit for a while.

A faction that wants KK as HC?  Unless KK's distaste for recruiting is internet fodder, I struggle to see him coming back to college as a HC and dealing with all the bullshit that comes along with it (or at least struggle to see him succeeding in that role at A&M of all places).  He wouldn't be in my "realistic" top 10 if I were weighing in for them.

I could see him cutting a deal as an OC and basically saying, "I'm here to coach football and that's it".   But even in that scenario, when you have the $$ that KK already has, why in the world would you want to live in college station?   I don't know Kliff or anyone that does know him well in coaching circles so I'm purely speculating but hard to see how that's a fit in any scenario.

I can confirm that the same issue is affecting the 2nd or 3rd tier of Ag donors (the Ags with nice ranches but aren't getting building names for them).

I sat in on a conversation with a few of those Ags the day Jimbo was fired. The unanimous feeling was none of them were donating shit while Aggy is paying Jimbo to not coach - some felt the same about Bjork.

Yet Sharp is the one who is pulling the strings, but he's a "good Ag," and will never be fired. No matter how badly he destroys their university. Fucking moron.

It restores a little faith in humanity that at least some Aggie boosters have the moral strength to draw the line somewhere

If Bjork finds himself updating his resume any time in the next year or so, this will be the reason.

Bjork frequently walks around Kyle Field during home games to get a feel for how the program is performing. He says having the season be all but over by the end of October is unacceptable.

“We can’t put ourselves in that position,” he says. “We had 103,000 people at our game against Mississippi State. I’m walking the field before the game and people from the visiting team were asking me, ‘Why are all these people here?’

My boss is tier 2 and he said the same thing. He's instead sinking money into the baseball team.
