I know they're a bunch of self-loathing dipshits who project all of their crap onto others, but I'm really at a loss for what exactly Texas has done so far to be a "cancer" in the SEC?  We're not even in the conference yet.

The ags got their wet dream of hosting the first game in the revived rivalry, so no cancer there.  Texas is losing the LHN, so no cancer there.  Texas' SEC schedule is fairly favorable but so is the ags', and we play Michigan OOC while they're playing Nichols State or somebody, so I don't really see any evidence of cancer there.

If anything, in some ways Texas is being stripped and humbled before the altar of the SEC.  You think the ags would actually appreciate that.  But no, they're simply incapable of feeling anything but fear and hate, whenever UT is mentioned.

I’m sitting at the bar in a hotel in Boston last night, minding my business with a drink and waiting for my wife to come down. Drunk guy sidles up in the chair next to me and orders a Sam Adams. Turns to me and introduces himself, so I do the same. He eventually introduced himself 3 times in a brief 5 minute conversation.

He starts asking me questions about where I’m from, etc. Random bar conversations are not my thing but okay. I eventually say that I live in Texas, both Houston and Austin at different points, and he immediately says “you didn’t go to that school did ya?” I ask what he means. “The one in Austin.” I say, yeah, I went to Texas.

It’s at that point that he pulls his top coat back to reveal that he’s wearing an ATM pullover. Then proceeds to tell me he’s from a family of longhorns and he’s the black sheep. I simply say “well, hey, not everyone can get in” in a joking manner. Guy then says “all of you guys are assholes”, grabs his unoriginal beer and stalks off to a table.

These guys are insecure and humorless anywhere on the planet, and they’re always tripping over themselves to show it. It’s really weird.

One perk of living outside of Texas is not having to deal with these insecure assholes on a daily basis. So far my interaction with other SEC fans have been very positive. They are far more consumed about focusing on their own school than having some petty jealously like A&M and Big 12 fans. If you meet a Florida, LSU or Tennessee fan as an example they immediately talk about their coaches or players instead of pedantic anti-Texas nonsense that consumes all of the Big 12 fan bases.

I'm pretty good at the random stranger chat . . . it bugs my wife to no end, she can't converse with anyone she hasn't known for weeks . . . but it always amuses me how prone Aggies are to assume anyone gives a shit that they went to school there.  UT is far more prestigious and I always work on the assumption that the average person doesn't consider it as any different than a Rutgers or a Colorado or whatever.  Must be ingrained during Fish Camp.

I try to find a kinder and gentler way to smooth over that exact situation.

Instead of focusing on our differences, I try to focus on our shared dreams and aspirations. I tell them:

Longhorns and Aggies have something in common… we all wanted to go to UT.

True for the first generation college students.

Unfortunately, there are many kids out there brain-washed by their aggy parents into believing that the world's largest community college on the Brazos is, in fact, a superior institution.

It's child abuse, really.

I don’t mind a chat, but I’m relatively introverted unless I know you. It’s fine. I had no UT gear on and it’s just odd that he went to the school question pretty quickly. What I was a plumber or carpenter and had no background or interest in college?

The instant he asked what school you knew he was aggy

You’re right in that I thought “there’s no way I’m running into a fucking aggie at a random hotel bar in Boston” but sure enough …

I have probably posted this before, but…
about 20 years ago, I was in a cross-functional meeting to plan a major new project. This one guy starts, “Let’s go around the room, say our name, and where we went to college. I’m Mike, and I went to Texas A&M”.

The next guy, a respected company leader- “My name is John, and I got my GED in prison”.

And that was the end of that foolishness.
That's some quality trolling on the company dime, sounds like a great workplace, lolz (Minus the aggy and whoever hired him)

Im fucking stunned he ordered Sam Adams. Woild have assumed Bud Ice or Zima
Bud ice is for frat boys and adults who burned all their taste buds off years ago. I tried all the cheap, crappy beers in my late teens, early 20's...but somehow Bud Ice got excluded. A few years back curiosity got the better of me and I bought one of those large cans during a fuel stop on the way to a fishing trip. All I can say is Natty light can hold it's head high compared to whatever liquid death was in that can.

I'm kinda amazed the dipshit had to resort to revealing his allegiance via a hoodie. Would've expected that during one of his 3 introductions to @closetojumping his aggy ring would have accidentally been placed inches from view. Or maybe he's the type that loses his ring on the regular & then writes fan fiction about how it was found halfway across the world by another ag.

Do you mean the beer that is owned by Pabst Brewing Company and made under contract by Miller Brewing Company?

Yes.  It was a comment about its flavor, which is way better than the InBev, etc. offerings.

I’ll have to check and see if my idiot brother was in Boston this week. It sure sounds like him, but I suppose that also sounds like most first generation aggy. If he was drunk and kept repeating himself though… high likelihood it was my idiot brother.

This might be the most accurate top 10 list ever created.

I saw this a couple days ago and before watching it thought “if this list is truly anywhere close to respectable, aggy has got to be pretty high on it.” Had some doubt since he appeared to be an Ohio guy, but big belly laughs when aggy was named at number one. Nailed the entire list.

Speaking of aggy and bars, a few years ago I was in a bar in Deep Ellum that was full of aggy grads and students. It's obvious this is a true aggy bar. We start talking about the aggy corps and I go all Randolph Duke like on them with facts about how it's not a military school, it's a fake army and most of those douchebags never serve a day in armed forces. One girl gets upset about it since her dad and grandpa were in the corps. Her 2% boyfriend explains to me why she's upset as she goes to bitch about it to her cousin and his friends. They come over and confront me and I tell them how the truth hurts and they're all truly angry that they receive rejection letters from UT. One of them threatens to take it outside and fight me and I respond with "you're literally wanting to fight over nothing." I come back from the bathroom and one of my friends(who is a bartender there) escorts me out the back door because apparently when I stepped away those baby back butt hurt bitches were planning to beat my ass in the bar or jump me as soon as I left.

Talk about getting all riled up over nothing. I laughed it off as I was leaving.

Rick, can you choose just one college that the ROTC represents?

https://www.txamfoundation.com/News/Texas-AM-The-Military-College-of-Texas.aspx

"Texas A&M: The Military College of Texas

Twenty years after being designated the Military College of Texas, Texas A&M continues to offer an exemplary military education."

From Wikipedia:

Texas A&M University (Texas A&M, A&M, or TAMU) is a public, land-grant, research university in College Station, Texas. It was founded in 1876 and became the flagship institution of the Texas A&M University System in 1948. Since 2021, Texas A&M has enrolled the largest student body in the United States,[14] and is the only university in Texas to hold simultaneous designations as a land-, sea-, and space-grant institution. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity" and a member of the Association of American Universities.

The university was the first public higher education institution in Texas; it opened for classes on October 4, 1876, as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas (A.M.C.) under the provisions of the 1862 Morrill Land-Grant Act. In the following decades, the college grew in size and scope, expanding to its largest enrollment during WWII before its first significant stagnation in enrollment post-war.[15] Enrollment grew again in the 1960s under the leadership of President James Earl Rudder, during whose tenure, the college desegregated, became coeducational, and ended the requirement for participation in the Corps of Cadets. In 1963, to reflect the institution's expanded roles and academic offerings, the Texas Legislature renamed the college Texas A&M University; the letters "A&M" were retained as a tribute to the university's former designation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_A%26M_University
