His hedging on Georgia already tells you exactly how nervous he is about that one.

The narrative is already changing about Miss. St.  A couple of weeks ago beating them by only 3 TDs was a sign that Texas isn't that good. Now, MSU is an SEC home team to be feared.

Yeah. Texas “struggled” with them at home and back then, state was THE worst team in the sec. Never mind the fact that they gambled on changing their compete offensive identity against us for that one game to try to control TOP and slow down our offense. But now that Georgia only won by a hair a home against state, they’re back to being damn near Goliath topplers.

It’s amazing to read the aggy board and see how they wiggle stories around to make themselves feel better.  They’ve really gone overboard thinking beating Missouri makes them contenders.  aggy has built one of the tallest roller coasters yet, the October drop off  is going to be entertaining this year.

Over 400 yards of offense against a high quality defense? When was the last time your ags managed that Graham Cracker?

Since when does Texas A&M University come after the University of Texas at Austin alphabetically? It’s early, and I haven’t had my double espresso, so maybe I’m missing something.

Your point stands, but "The" should be capitalized, as it's part of our official title. (Unlike tOSU, we just choose not to make a big deal out of it.)

The Texas Constitution

Article 7

Sec. 10. ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS; AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT. The Legislature shall as soon as practicable establish, organize and provide for the maintenance, support and direction of a University of the first class, to be located by a vote of the people of this State, and styled, "The University of Texas", for the promotion of literature, and the arts and sciences, including an Agricultural, and Mechanical department. (Emphasis added for the elucidation of aggys; you'll note that it doesn't specify multiple universities of the first class)

Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #3 - Texas

The Longhorns notched a big milestone this weekend by taking care of OU, who has been the perennial burr under their saddle. The triumphant return of Quinn Ewers to the quarterback spot saw the senior QB get his second win in the Red River Rivalry.

However, the scoreboard destruction of Oklahoma still masks some of the issues that have been persisting with this Texas team. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Horns have yet to be tested, and they’re not really passing with flying colors in every facet.

There’s no one, dominant team this year, of course. Everyone has holes. But when I see that the Texas pass offense put up a worse performance against OU than did the Auburn Tigers, of all teams, that has me concerned.

So too does the defense. The Longhorns have yet to play a team with the ability to complete a downfield pass, and they’ve been able to dedicate scheme and numbers to the run game as a result—yet they’re still not as dominant as they were last year.

UGA will be a test in that respect, so we’ll find something out about the Longhorns this weekend—one way or the other.

Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #2 - Georgia

The Bulldogs have still not quite been as impressive as most hoped so far this year. They have won convincingly in several games—that Clemson win just keeps looking better and better, in particular—but games like this previous Saturday against Mississippi State have been a thorn in their side.

Yes, if you look at total yardage, it was a convincing win. But this is the type of game that was a wholesale destruction under previous championship squads under Kirby Smart.

We can write it off a little bit as a lookahead spot for the Bulldogs, who will be traveling to Austin this Saturday. But the alarm bells are still there for UGA. If they don’t win on Saturday, 9-3 is a real possibility in Athens.

That might still be enough to get them in the playoff, but it won’t make many Bulldog fans happy.

Why not?

We need a larger body of work, to be sure. But it looks more and more like A&M’s performance against Missouri—efficient and explosive on offense, and suffocating on defense—is one of the most complete and dominant games we’ve seen out of any squad in the nation this year.

They have to follow it up with some more big games, no doubt. But it’s encouraging that, upon Weigman’s return, the Aggies looked so dominant against a quality team.

Again, there is more that has to be shown. But if that Mizzou game showed what the Aggies are going forward, there are almost no holes in this team—and those holes that are present are at spots that have been improving every single week.

It’s looking more and more like the Ags may have the best defense in the conference, with down years in Athens and Tuscaloosa. They’re certainly more tested in that respect than others who may lay claim to that title. If the offense can keep up what they did against Mizzou, this Aggie team could be a conference title contender in year one under Mike Elko.

I genuinely love this guy

Troll or not, I like these quotes:

Quote

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Horns have yet to be tested

It MIGHT be true that few teams can test Texas, right?

The Longhorns have yet to play a team with the ability to complete a downfield pass

Mississippi State had 144 passing yards against Texas, and 306 against Georgia.  Hmm.

I like how he's ignoring all statistical evidence and claiming that Texas' current #1 Total Defense and #1 Scoring defense "isn't as dominant as last year's."  That is a bold fabrication that is worthy of only his masterful artistry.  No amateur or mere mortal could pull that off.

For the record, A&M is 6-11 against Oklahoma since the launch of the pathetic Big 12, and 5-11 against Texas over that time frame.

And I'm still not happy they won 5 of 16 games. Unacceptable. I look forward to making it 5 in 17...then 5 in 18...and so on.

Aggy loves to chirp about its wins over Bama as evidence of being a true blueblood program. Given that they've gone 3-13 against the Tide all time, that's a curious measure to use to promote your program. Especially since aggy ran off the coaches responsible for its only two victories over Bama since LBJ was in office.

Texas A&M has 4 conference games left before they play UT.

@MSU

LSU

@USCe

@Auburn

Considering their road history could they lose all 4? The bottom barrel of the conference is not as bad as predicted initially

It’s amazing how every year they get to play the worst teams in the conference and still fuck it up.

They are tripping over themselves to call us “not good” and they are world beaters. Their win over an overrated Missouri is so much more of a measuring stick than our win over Michigan.

While the probablity of this happening is nearly at 0, it would be fascinating to see Mississippi State beat an A&M team that is already thinking they are a lock to win over LSU, Texas, and get to the SEC title game.

I mean/ you say nearly zero but aggy is always capable of self destructing at least 1 out of 3, so there you have it.
they were lucky to escape bowling green or Kent state or whatever irrelevant midwestern spare they had on their schedule earlier this year. They could absolutely lose at MSST.

Why would you say that?  Better A&M teams than this one have lost to MSU in Starkville. The ags are 1-4 in their last 5 trips there. A full decade of futility on the road against the dreaded bulldogs.
