my edit didn't appear like i wanted

aggy are eliminating 20ish minors, but eliminating the following makes zero sense

Geophysics UG

Chemical Engineering UG

Petroleum Engineering UG

Design and Simulation of Mechanic Systems UG

Aerospace Engineering UG

Analysis, Design and Management of Energy Conversion Systems UG

Engineering Concepts UG

Maritime Studies UG

PE major but you can't add a Maritime minor?

ChemE but you can't add an ASE minor?

this makes no sense

I can see it making sense. There must be a lot of overlap in the engineering curriculum (I’m not an engineer so correct me if I’m wrong). When I was at McCombs, there was so much overlap with finance as an accounting major that the admin didn’t even allow for a minor in finance.

I know a lot of people with sociology degrees. Nearly all of them make 6 figures.

This idea that you “just know” people with a certain degree don’t make that much money or it’s a worthless degree really shows how uneducated you are and are just going by the knowledge of your own social circles.

Agreed. Specialized STEM degrees are practical. You’ll have a job. But you are never taught a broader world view or how to think or write critically. Which is necessary for true, significant potential in finances and life in general.

I don't necessarily disagree, especially at public schools, but I do think there needs to be pretty carefully crafted limits.  Not every major/minor needs to be a profit center.

It seems odd that a university that brags about how much money they have is worried about costs.  Shouldn't they be able to fund even the most outlier programs?

No. College is not trade school.  STEM teaches critical thinking which is valuable in any endeavor.  I have two STEM majors who are in finance because their employers where impressed with their premed curriculum.  They enjoyed science. Neither ever took a business class.

My Saturday routine, like many on here, is to watch college football all day.  I'm not exaggerating when I state that I didn't hear a single talking head include aggy in the playoff picture.  It was kind of weird.  They'll beat NMSU and Auburn, then "only" need to beat Texas at home.  It's not that far-fetched.  Win a rivalry, night game at home.  It's just funny to see a total lack of respect given to them considering how they're always all, "Everybody look at me!"  To add, if the script was flipped exactly, there's no way folks aren't keeping Texas out of their mouths when talking playoffs.

Auburn is awful but they basically have 3 weeks to prepare for aggy.

All they have to do is study SCs game plan. They were running the same 3 plays and getting 7-15 yards every time. Bootleg quick dump to the flats was working over and over.

Until aggy learns and adjusts to simple schemes I’d just run what SC did and play tough football and watch them break.

“Sociology Degree Salary in California. $57,700 is the 25th percentile. Salaries below this are outliers. $81,900 is the 75th percentile.“

So starting salary for sociology degree is 25th percentile.  That is bottom 25th.  Not saying job is “worthless” or you can’t make a good salary with it, but my education and social circles makes me believe that 25% is below average.

However, my real point was that Sociology with a minor in Gender Studies (as an example) is a better way to have similar education while providing better opportunities as “The typical early career salary for someone with a bachelor’s degree in gender studies is $28,707, and within five years of graduation, this average salary goes up to $47,704.”

So I was encouraging people to get Sociology degrees with minors/focus as I believe it provides greater options and opportunities.   This is in light of the removal of degrees from the OP discussion.

Sorry if my original point was unclear causing you to get defensive and jump into personal ad hominem attacks.

Holy shit!  This motherfucker needs to go see his gynecologist if his pussy is hurting that much.

Who do they think should be in over Texas? You have to eliminate Alabama before Texas because both won their conference but Texas won convincingly at their house. But yea, I know they don’t know shit about football.

The blueprint should be to isolate York every single play. Audible into a pass or run depending on his lean. He’s undersized, slow, and out of position frequently. They’re playing with 10.5 men on the field on defense.
But he has heart and loves TAMU. So he has that going for him. Which is nice.

I agree, but on the other side there are a lot of degrees that are arguably a swindle of young peoples future money. Some degrees just shouldn't exist as they have zero post grad value in reality.

Are you telling me a masters in art isn't gonna work out? Holy shit! Someone should alert the idiots who just want to coast by and say they have a degree.

All the young Surlyites should be getting into nursing school if they can.  Seriously, though. Become anesthesia APNs and get hired starting at minimum 100/hr.

That's South Austin's Mom money.
