Some real insightful analysis in here. If everything goes as badly as it could possibly go we could lose. Y'all make Desmond Howard seem like a football savant.

And all this pants-wetting about the toughest environment in the history of the world. Give me a break. As if 2011 when a much less talented Texas team beat a similarly talented A&M team when those yokels thought they were playing us for the last time ever. Their stadium gets pretty loud. Ooh, scary.

WTF does that mean? Texas was 7-4, aggy was 6-5. Texas was ranked but an 8 point underdog. The only reason we won was due to aggy constantly turning the ball over. They had better position and stats for the whole game. And if we had our current clown kicker in 2011, that's not a walk off FG to win.

Anybody know what our record is at night at Gomer Pyle field?  What about when both teams are ranked?  I know we have the better record in general at Gooberville.

I don’t have night games, but Texas leads 25-22-2 in College Station.

and leads 4-3 in College Station when both teams are ranked (higher ranked team has won every time except 1) when #10 Texas knocked off #2 A&M 23-0 way back in 1941, and 2) the infamous ‘99 game.

I won't speak for Huckleberry, and this surely isn't his point, but A&M does not look like a team that can score on us unless we gift them short field position, and if we do that multiple times, we deserve to lose.

It's great how they just forget the part about gross negligence being the root cause of the collapse.  But glad they can get the ol' 40' topped off with a "portable glory hole"  and paint it burnt orange.

I would be remiss if I didn't also point out that today is also the anniversary of the Jonestown Massacre...

I ain’t skeeered.

Just saying sometimes our dudes struggle with pressure. Aggy seems like they might have some dudes in their front 7. Or not. We shall see.

In other news, water is wet. So is South Austin’s mom.

I think aggy has one advantage over us, and that’d be the kicking game…hopefully, it is not a factor….hopefully.

Every major program has the team stay in a hotel the night before home games. Coaches want to be able control the environment from team meetings to nutrition to knowing all the players are accounted for.

No, I get that. It’s just that they probably have a hotel in Austin that would be less of a hassle than Bastrop.

How exactly is A&M going to score on us more than we score on them?  Y'all are being dramatic.

I agree. I don’t know where all this aggy defense is getting all this hype. They are second to last in sacks in the SEC. 11th in pass defense. 10th in rushing defense. 6th in scoring defense. Lots of people making them out to be the 2000 Baltimore ravens. Texas should win if they just play their game, their defense is nothing special.

Agree that I don't want to see A&M lose to Auburn. I would be laughing if they do, but Texas could use a win against a top 20 team prior to facing Bama in the SEC championship team. and if we lose to A&M, then we're not as good as we thought in the first place.

I don't EVER want to see aggy win any game, period. If we just take care of business, all the other garbage doesn't mean shit.

Texas A&M in Daily Mail today! It's the 25th anniversary of Bonfire '99 and the criminal level of incompetence.

Some of the best comments:

They didn't actually pay out that much in lawsuits in the end. There were a lot of lawsuits but most got thrown out. The real reason it won't happen again is because they would have to pay a $2-3M premium for an insurance policy each year just for the bonfire.

I read the story of one guy that was crushed. He lived for a few days, alert, knowing he was going to die.

Apparently 37 were injured. The stack collapsed in the early morning hours as students were on top of the pile, 4 feet higher than authorized, according to my reading.

5000 logs stood up right over 60 feet tall....held by chains....what could go wrong

I understand tradition, but this bon fire set up seemed inherently dangerous and I'm surprised they even allowed it all those years.

What a waste of trees

Twelve people die and they’re motivated to beat their rival? That sounds unbelievably crass.

Moronic.

Stats don't win games.  Players do.  This is what makes CFB so much better than pro.  Kyle will be fucking electric.  Take the speakers out early.  Get out in front.  That's how you win this game.  They're not even remotely a come from behind offensive team.

Until then, KY will be a good test as well.  Stout defense on that squad.

Sometimes my objective mind convinces me it's in our best interest for A&M to win a given game, and then I start watching said game, and something goes wrong for the Aggies and I start laughing and immediately find myself rooting for their opponent and then 3 hours later the game is over and they've lost and I am supremely satisfied.

Dammit I just rewatched that footage of our band playing "Amazing Grace" in total deference to the magnitude of the day and when I think back as to how those fuckwads treated our team I want to roll into Kyle and beat the shit out of those assholes.  God I hate Texas A&M.

That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen at a football game. Their band kinda just did their thing and then did some silly shit. Our band kinda made me tear up. They played that shit so well.

2024 Texas is much more talented than 2011 Texas. 2011 Texas A&M was similarly talented to 2024 Texas A&M.
