Tell Me About Texas a&m

Dammit I just rewatched that footage of our band playing "Amazing Grace" in total deference to the magnitude of the day and when I think back as to how those fuckwads treated our team I want to roll into Kyle and beat the shit out of those assholes.  God I hate Texas A&M.

Agree.

I grew up with both sides of this rivalry, so didn't really think much of how one school acted towards the other. Naively, it was just another college rivalry between two teams.

The way they acted on this day towards our players and school, it really opened my eyes to just how manic aggy gets with Texas. The inferiority complex, coupled with "little man" syndrome of their cadets l, really creates a frenzy of ridiculous behavior.

Then, you had the horse shit thrower and it just sealed the deal for me.

I had no desire to renew this rivalry and no intention of engaging these goobers on anything Texas/A&M.

This is the game right here. Their plan will be to do what Georgia did. We can argue in the chat room til the cows come home, but if it works it will be a rough night for the O.

Hopefully we have a better plan than vs UGA.

The plan works against most teams. It is predicated on getting the ball to fast players in space, and forcing the defense to make one on one tackles.

Georgia, Texas and a few others have NFL players at all 3 levels of the defense, and routinely make those plays. A&M has a good DL, but their LBs and DBs are average at best.

It’s not the plan, it’s the execution of the plan.

If aggy can’t run us over they’ll be in trouble.

Even with Moss, they were never going to run over us. Without him, Reed is getting chased and hit all night long.

Eh.

Total Defense -- UGA #14, A&M #47

Total Offense -- UGA #48, A&M #49

Y'all are overestimating how good this team is.

Sometimes, I think, that I might not have got into Texas these days.  Then I read this board, and those silly thoughts disappear.

I get it. I said IF they are successful at the UGA plan. Maybe they won’t be.

Maybe, just maybe, T. York will morph from a 6’-0” plug into an NFL linebacker. Or, maybe he won’t.

Michigan, 4th quarter, less than 5 minutes left, 78 yards, TD.
UTSA, 2nd quarter, 75 yards, TD

MSU, 4th quarter, 75 yards, TD

UGA, 3rd quarter, 89 yards, TD

Vanderbilt, 4th quarter, 75 yards, TD

Florida, 4th quarter, 67 yards, TD

Arkansas, 3rd quarter, 75 yards, TD

So, seven in ten games. Five in six SEC games.

Is that good?

4 of the 7 drives were in the 4th quarter against Michigan, MSU, Vanderbilt and Florida, when the games were never in doubt and we had emptied the bench.

Arkansas had the best chance to run on our defense. They got 2.4 yds/at.

Texas A&M in Daily Mail today! It's the 25th anniversary of Bonfire '99 and the criminal level of incompetence.

Some of the best comments:

They didn't actually pay out that much in lawsuits in the end. There were a lot of lawsuits but most got thrown out. The real reason it won't happen again is because they would have to pay a $2-3M premium for an insurance policy each year just for the bonfire.

I read the story of one guy that was crushed. He lived for a few days, alert, knowing he was going to die.

Apparently 37 were injured. The stack collapsed in the early morning hours as students were on top of the pile, 4 feet higher than authorized, according to my reading.

5000 logs stood up right over 60 feet tall....held by chains....what could go wrong

I understand tradition, but this bon fire set up seemed inherently dangerous and I'm surprised they even allowed it all those years.

What a waste of trees

Twelve people die and they’re motivated to beat their rival? That sounds unbelievably crass.

Moronic.

They may use some chains, but most of the “structural integrity” is provided by bailing wire. That is used for, among other things, holding bales of hay together.

Using pencil-lead-thin wires to hold together ~ 2,000,000 lbs of logs, and taking 12 lives in the process, … criminal level of incompetence.

That is a, devil, ex-wife, jilted Vic special? Whatever!

😧 All the above.

Gather round, all, whether yet beardless or bewhiskered, as we pass down the lore that is shared in the greatest song of all time about a disaster. I'll start, and others can hop in.

The legend lives on from the old football boards

Of the large one they call The Listeater

When it’s time to get tix with a bunch of dumb hicks

They all know that no one can beat 'er

That thing, it is said, eats long lists as if bread

When the skies of November turn ashen

And around Kyle Field, the late fall will not yield

Much better to serve as distraction

As expected, aggy fucks up everything they do. There’s been a ton of student complaining about their ticket pull process. It’s sounds similar to how Klein will call their game against us.

“that was absolute hell.

Just got out of my long 6 hour ticket pull shift. i shouldn’t complain bc i got tickets but THAT was unrealistic. Shout out to the dude that asked for my umbrella while it’s POURING and im literally USING IT. The shoving, cutting in line, and talking shit to each other in line was just not it. I realize this ticket pull was gonna be hectic but 12th man foundation had MONTHS to prepare for this and didn’t do shit.  thank the lord that was my last ticket pull EVER. i need a drink now. “

That was a well-timed post.

Listeater would have that mess straightened out in a heartbeat.

One of the best, and I think my first, incredible aggy rollercoaster derailment - which we called at the time a choke - happened in the 1963 game that solidified our #1 ranking (over #2 Navy and Roger Staubach).

On odd-number years, T-Day game was in College Station. It was chilly and wet.

We scored first, FG by Shoeless Tony Crosby, and led 3-0. aggy came back with a couple of TDs, one in 2Q and another in 3Q, missed the xp on the second one, and was up 13-3 in the 4th quarter. We scored early, went for 2, didn't get it: 13-9 aggy.

aggy had only won a couple of games all year, and they pulled out all the stops. One of their scores was a trick play, where the QB lateraled to a WR, and bounced the ball. I swear the nearest official waved incomplete, but maybe not. It worked as intended - the Texas D pulled up, and the WR threw a long pass to a wide-open ag. Damn.

With the clock running out, Texas mounted a drive, but then... disaster! Our pass was intercepted, and aggy just needed to take a knee and run the clock for the supremely satisfying win.

That wasn't enough for the ags, though... the interceptor apparently wanted glory, a pick-6 to cap off one for the ages. He tried to run it back, but was quickly corralled. Instead of going down, though, he tried to pitch it to a teammate. The ball went flying, Texas recovered it, with a fresh set of downs because of the double change of possession.

Texas drove and Duke Carlisle punched the ball in from the goal line with a minute left. We went for 2 - again - and didn't get it - again. But 15-13 Texas.

aggy had yet another massive choke to add to their heritage, and we had a New Year's Day shot at Roger Staubach and the Midshipmen. But that's another story.

Yep, I was there…

I think he might be disappointed when he finds that this coming era of UT-TAMU football is going to be just like the previous era of UT-TAMU football-- Texas winning the vast majority of games including having a winning record in College Station.

ditto

never wanted to play them again

hopefully starting in '26 we go to 9 games and they get kicked out of our annual rotation so we only have to go indoctrination station every 4 years

and if they pull any fuckery next weekend, the tree rodent signal will be dusted off and reactivated with a vengeance for the return leg a year from now

Someone spent money on that abortion? You know they were giggling with delight the entire time. Did they do a lottery or gloryhole bracket to be picked to do all the lettering or whatever you call it on the overalls? And don't they have a game this week before "little brother"? They're about to FAFO with Auburn.

Pardon my ignorance here, but are student tickets expected to sell out? When I was a student, anyone that had a sports pass could get a ticket to any game. They would run out of sports passes before the school year starts, and yeah if you pull late for big games you'd get shit seats, but I don't think they ever ran out of tickets for people that had a sports pass. Has that changed?

ihavebadallergies

17h ago

if you have a sports pass you're guaranteed a ticket until 5pm on thursday. you may get standing room only but you will get a ticket no matter what

+++

these stupid motherfuckers

goddamn they are ignorant

aggy math:

they made the "sports pass" (i.e. football revenue contribution) MANDATORY for every diploma mill human unit

tacklekroger "seats" (MORE THAN THE SIPS!): 102733

diploma mill human units: 79105

tacklekroger season tickets (same maximum number every year): 54000

103 - 54 = 49

79 - 49 = 30

aggy are unable to fulfill their contractual obligation to 30000 diploma mill human units who purchased the mandatory "sports pass"

we share the same state with these people

Auburn by a touchdown

First of all, "single-handedly"?

I assume he meant single-mindedly, but who the hell knows.

Secondly, I'm impressed he said either upcoming opponent first.

I would have expected "Our focus is single-handedly on the Golden Corral buffet...I mean Texas...I mean Auburn!"
