I may be misremembering something from the past, but with the surprise of the UT show of goodwill at the 99 game halftime show, didn't they do something so typically aggy (disrespectful and ignorant) to Texas in their halftime or some other closely related event?

They did their usual moronic “saw ‘em off” formation….probably because the fake army band couldn’t learn anything else to honor their dead in the week between the careless tragedy and the Funeral Bowl game.

We're obviously not getting rankings this week, but we are getting a lot of attempted copium from this guy:

Statistics demonstrate that Texas A&M football will be seeing nothing special on offense this weekend
Texas A&M football is headed for a rivalry matchup with the Texas Longhorns this weekend. The head man down in Austin, Steve Sarkisian, comes into this game with a solid reputation as an offensive mind, and thus the Longhorns themselves carry a reputation of being a team that's pretty squared away on that side of the ball.

However, there's obviously a lot that has been made of the weak schedule Texas has played so far this year. The best defense they've played all year was Georgia; and that game was an abject disaster for the Longhorn offense.

So, it's worth asking the question: is the Texas offense really all that good?

Bill Radjewski, the arbiter of collegefootballdata.com, a great resource for advanced college football statistics, put together an opponent-adjusted chart of offensive Expected Points Added per play (you can think of EPA as yards per play, but adding context for down, distance, and field position). This chart is rather illustrative as to the answer to the above question.

A tip for reading these charts is that you can form "tiers" by drawing diagonal lines that go from the top left to the bottom right. Doing so reveals that the Longhorn's offense is roughly on the same level as the Aggies', a little worse than Baylor, and Washington State, and a little better than North Texas.

What's more, this also reveals that the Aggies are the best team the Longhorns will have faced since they played Georgia. A&M is better running the ball and not quite as good passing (though there are a couple of poor performances from Conner Weigman baked into that data, it should be said).

However, the Aggies have already faced a much better offense than the Longhorns in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Texas is better at passing, but the Irish are one of the best rushing offenses in the nation.

The numbers don't exactly paint a picture of some dominant offensive unit rolling in to face off with the Aggies. Rather, this is a middling attack that will be coming up against one of the best defenses in the conference—and the best environment in the nation.

"Elite" or not we saw Auburn run up and down the field on them with lesser players and a QB who's maybe even worse than Quinn.

So yes...you SHOULD be afraid of the Texas O if you couldn't even stop "mighty Auburn"

Mentions making an adjustment up in passing offense due to Weigman, neglects to mention backing out Moss's contribution to rushing stats.

I remember watching the game intently.  Getting pissed immediately after it was over.  Resolving that anger with the attitude of - well, they *needed* to win more than we did even after seeing all their aggyness on full display after we basically bent our knees for them... and then...
I get a call from an aggy co-worker - Ag Grad + Corp Turd... "How did you like that shit!, HAHAHA t.u. got there asses beat, WHOOP!" or something very close to that... its been 25 years so.
After that, no sympathy for the sheep fuckers.  I will go to my grave knowing that these dipshits are nothing but a shitstain and an embarrassment to the state of Texas.
Never have so many cheered and gotten so little in return.
Suck my burnt orange balls, gomers.

I thought then and still do that Mack let them win.

Texas is "better" on this cherry-picked "stat" than every other team they have played this season other than Notre Dame, including South Carolina and Auburn.

They chose to dye the field green for TV in 1963?

Confused Uh Oh GIF by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Not according to a great Longhorn Network documentary about the 1963 season.

Gumps ran their sprinklers all week in a lame attempt to slow down UT's running game. Don't put anything past aggy.

Exactly. According to the documentary, they spray painted it green to hide the fact that is was a mud pit. You can see the stains on the jerseys of the players.

Anybody want to tell Graham that in Mock's time as a Horn, Texas was 5-0 vs aggy including a 46-15 W at the Gomer Pyle Tackle Box in '03?

t.u. got most of those points in garbage time.

Maybe even? Quinn is not bad. Something is off right now, but when healthy he is good. Thorne looks like Bo Nix when he was at Auburn. Awful.

Re: 1999 Bonfire game

- Article leaves out the aggy Patel dude who was the night manager of the Holiday Inn that “allegedly” food poisoned half our team, including Applewhite.
- Their band still did their regular little brother anti-UT shit, no matter how in hindsight they claim to have been considering canceling their performance and were so moved by the Longhorn Band’s performance

- Did Mack let them win? Hard to say because we had Greg Davis and they called a shit game. I don’t give a shit if it was freshman Simms’s first career start. We had Kwame Cavil and Montrell Flowers to throw to, and Hodges Mitchell, Victor Ike, and Chris Robertson to run. We should’ve mud holed them and instead we lulled around and kept it close until they didn’t run out of time.

I have honestly never understood why the "poooooor Aggies" chant gets under their skin so bad. Or at least why it seems to bother them more than any other chant. But every Aggie I have ever known, to a one, has hated that chant.

Makes it too easy to start fights in the text chain with friends. It's like calling Marty McFly chicken, they just cannot let it go.

I remember reading that after another Texas win, then Texas A&M president R. Bowen "Bow-Tie" Loftin heard "pooooooor aggies" for the first time and asked what they were saying.

When told what is was, he reportedly said, "Well that's the last time that's going to happen!"

A&M later moved to the SEC.

My sons were born after aggy ran to SEC, but they know all about the chant. We went out of state for Thanksgiving, but I feel a sense of guilt as a dad for not taking them Saturday to join in on POOOOOR AGGIES. I pray those of you in attendance chant it so loud and so often we all hear it on tv. Think of the children.

Dad was a ST player in ‘63. He said the sideline was almost shoe/ankle deep in muck. After the walkthrough and pre-game warmups, DKR inquired about obtaining a couple local bales of hay for the sideline, which didn’t happen.

The irony is that Aggies accuse us of watering the field for Ricky's 1998 record-breaking game at DKR.

You know, the day where it had been drizzling for hours before kickoff.

If Aggy is accusing another team of cheating, they’re likely doing that exact heat themselves.

From the every-accusation-is-a-confession-file.
