From texags. I'm surprised that Billy boy didn't write this.

Through three quarters of play on Saturday in Auburn, the Aggies looked dominant. But, the old November woes reared their ugly head once again as a 10-point lead evaporated in an instant on The Plains.

Dumbass shit I just read over on texags.

Thread title: Looks like we're gonna play the sips in the Texas bowl

A few replies:

It's not happening. SEC would block it this year for sure.

You're assuming we'll be bowl eligible.

Well, they wanted to be SEC. and now they know how the majority of the SEC has spent the last 80 years.......at the feet of their one true God....Alabama.

Them currupt mother fuckers have out cheated Gooner since the 50’s they just never took as much heat cuz Bear was a AFCA lackey and always pointed to OU to guide his buddies like McKay, Shug, Dooley, Neyland and sadly Joe Pa as well. Let that sink in, Bear and Joe were Bud’s, imagine that. But hey go look for yourself, they have had their hands in just as much scandal as ou, the only difference? At ou they shot up a dorm or two, and cheated on Kerry’s transcript. At Bama they spent $265,000 on Albert Means, and fixed a few games. Nothing to see.

So let me get this straight. . . .

Aggy has a signature win over KY

Has two moral victories that don’t count as losses.

Have wins over tough sec teams of Arky, SC.

Their losses to MissSt and Auburn were to teams that would be undefeated in Big 12 play.

All this for a $75 million salary plus $10 million buyout for a coach that would have had probably the same record.

Secsecsec. #clickclack

At some point, even the ags are going to begin to realize that because of their freak show of a culture, they will never convince top athletes from outside Texas to reject schools with less extreme and less off-putting cultures and to embrace that which is so routinely mocked here in Texas - the aggy culture. A&M will always have easily identifiable weaknesses in their 2-deep that provides ample opportunities for opposing coordinators to exploit. We knew the aggys had no secondary before the season started. Next year, they will have a glaring weakness at linebacker and a very young secondary. Moving forward, they will struggle at QB. Because of their cultural baggage, and how it hinders recruiting outside of Texas, A&M will never win a championship in any major sport. Never.

 Texas A&M 1919

1919 Texas A&M football team

Hall of Fame football coach Dana X. BibleThis was the 6th of 7 straight years that a Southwest team went unbeaten and untied. Texas A&M had previously taken their turn in 1917, going 8-0, and they were 10-0 in 1919, but in both seasons, the Aggies did something a little extra: they shut out every opponent. The coach for both seasons was Hall of Famer Dana Xenophon Bible (pictured at left). He had departed for the war in 1918, so Dana X. Bible had a personal streak of 18 straight shut-outs in his first 2 years of coaching at A&M in 1917 and 1919. And that streak continued all the way to the last game of the 1920 season, when Texas beat the Aggies 7-3: that ended a string of 25 straight shut-outs. Bible went 72-19-9 at Texas A&M 1917 and 1919-1928, 50-15-7 at Nebraska 1929-1936, and 63-31-3 at Texas 1937-1946. Overall he was 198-72-23 at 5 schools, posting a winning record in 30 of 33 seasons, and winning 8 SWC titles and 6 Big 6 titles.

Texas A&M was led by a pair of All-SWC backs, and though the rest of the nation took no notice, at least the two are enshrined in the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame: fullback and captain Jack Mahan and halfback Roswell Grady "Little Hig" Higginbotham. Little Hig scored the touchdown that beat Texas 7-0 in their finale, then he pitched a no-hitter against the Longhorns the following Spring.

Texas A&M played a schedule that was far weaker than even Notre Dame's, as they faced no opponent who would merit even a top 50 ranking, and they struggled to win 2 of those games, beating 3-5 Southwestern (Texas) and 6-3 Texas by the same 7-0 score. Texas wasn't a bad team, but they lost to 5-2-3 Oklahoma and to Phillips, a minor Oklahoma school. The Southwest region as a whole had yet to record a nationally significant intersectional win. But Dana Bible would win the first on January 2nd, 1922, when 6-1-2 Texas A&M pulled off a huge 22-14 upset of Charlie Moran's 10-1 Centre team in the Dixie Classic in Dallas.

Obviously, Texas A&M is by far the worst selection of the 6 teams I've covered for a 1919 MNC, and it's no surprise that it's the National Championship Foundation and Billingsley's computer making the pick. But the school itself does not claim a national championship for this season, so no harm done.

2012 UPDATE: well, as of 2012, Texas A&M now claims themselves national champions of 1919, and they put it up in big letters on their stadium to let everyone know that it must be true. How very--is there any other way to put it?--aggy of them. Sad, really. I suppose that 90 years from now, Marshall will claim themselves national champions of 1999. They were 13-0 that season, and finished ranked #10 in the AP poll. Of course, Marshall 1999 actually has a better case than Texas A&M, because they at least played a couple of top 50 caliber opponents, and Texas A&M would not have come close to #10 had there been an AP poll in 1919. More like #16-25. I have them ranked #23 for 1919. Well, at least Notre Dame still has the dignity not to claim an MNC for 1919.

But national championship or not, it was still a great year for the Aggies, so let's end on a positive note-- a picture of Little Hig tumbling over the goal line for the winning touchdown in the finale against Texas

aggy is a culture that views itself through stories. The UT culture is one much more rooted in verifiable fact, which makes sense for a culture whose commonality is the pursuit of knowledge. One reason we mock aggy is their stories are often horribly misleading. aggys bristle at our mockery because the stories of their past are the lens through which they view who they are as individuals and as a culture.

In the minds of aggys, their fake championships are testament to their past, and future greatness. And that seems odd to those of us who know the stories the aggys tell are mostly fabrications intended to bolster aggy self-esteem.

The ags will never confront they are not who they believe they are. They are not intellectually capable of that level of cognitive growth. Their stories will continue to get more fanciful and more plentiful each and every year. It is who they are. It is who they will always be.

The Jimbo Fisher era will pass with no championships, few moments of greatness, and with Jimbo Fisher laughing hysterically all the way to the bank.

But yet to be written fish camp tales will convince future aggys they were one field goal away from a national championship during at least one season of the Jimbo era, that a grand conspiracy of jealous outsiders is what held them back,. and that their past greatness is about to replicated once the right savior and hero walks on to campus.

Because in aggy culture, stories like that are what they live for. It is how the aggy mind works. And it is why others who live in a world of knowledge and education will look at aggy and realize they are fucking bizarre people.

Wait, they LOST?

Didn't Cesspool himself insist just 8 days ago they wouldn't lose another game all season and finish 10-2?

yes unbelievably Texas A&M has lost twice since then-- I don't really get it, they are known for getting awesome-o strong at the end of seasons and Herbstreit is almost as good at prognosticating as he is being faithful to his wife, it is hard to believe things have gone south in "The Station"

UAB will be ranked higher than them when they play.

Let me say that again.

UAB will be ranked higher than them when they play.

UAB may also be the only OOC ranked team the mighty SEC will have beaten this year. Though my guess is that Washington and Miami make it close.

If they ever lose their freak show culture, they'll also lose lose the support of many maroon blooded morons in-state, and won't even have that to make them stand out from any other state school in any other state.

Not that they'll ever give up their weirdness, just sayin.

A&M's worst nightmare is if the SEC East ever gets their shit together. Florida looks like they are on their way to improving.

A&M is 16-24 against the SEC West and they are 11-3 against the SEC East. The only thing keeping them a float in the SEC is the fact the SEC East has been crap for years.

The guaranteed annual game against S.Carolina helps pad the stats.

actually somewhat surprised they beat South Carolina this year. But it took South Carolina laying a complete egg in the first half for A&M to survive that game.

I would take South Carolina to beat them again if they played today.

I thought aggy would lose to South Carolina, Miss State and Auburn. Muschamp screwed me.

yeah but Florida is definitely improved. Florida isn't good but they look better this year.

The thing is the SEC East doesn't need to become elite. Just become a division with a few decent teams and that will probably lead to more losses for aggy.

Ironically, Florida's season has somewhat mirrored ours. An early loss, followed by a strong run that put them in the Top 10, followed by two bad losses.

yeah, but that's pretty much college football outside of like 4 or 5 teams. The separation between the 10th and 50th best teams in the country is minimal. On any given day the #50 team could easily beat the #10 team. It's all a crap shoot outside of a few teams like Clemson and Alabama.

I think Russo makes some interesting and good points about why it's trending that way.

Yeah, mizzou put their backpack on in the swamp.

Georgia seems to be the only decent team over there.
Does Aggy ever bitch about being placed in the West v the East?

It’s the durn sip conspiracy and gods fault for putting texum bulldogs in west instead of east. He’s the one that drew up the geography.

He’s the guy at a party who keeps reusing and doubling down on an unfunny joke because he thinks that people not laughing means they dont have a sense of humor instead of the obvious. It’s not funny.

The real comedy gold mine is Jimbos contract.

Remember, Jimbo already has a signature win. Beating Kentucky at home in overtime. What more do you want from Jimbo?

They'd rather lose than give up their culture. Emphasis on "cult".

Florida has a career .571 winning percentage in the SEC and 8 conference titles. Their 1st being in 1991. It's time to say that Florida is right where they have historically been, a slightly above average football program.

Aggy also has a .500 conference record on a average in that time no? And they’ve got how many conference and national titles compared to go gata?

But it’ll get better. Jimbo knows football. A T-shirt told me that. A T-shirt did not tell me however that is also knows cuckolding.
