Vandy defense was averaging 419 yards / game. Baylor racked up 675. I think secsecsec defense is more a function of secsecsec offenses.

... while missing Jalen Hurd.

Texas had a fun time against Missouri last year. OU obviously went to 2OT against UGA and both teams put up ~530 yards of offense.

The SEC defense thing gets thrown out every bowl season.

The A&M financials are nothing remarkable, except for the fact that the ags announced a $4B capital campaign in 2015, in 2018 announced they had already raised $3B and by raising $3B the net financial position of the system actually dropped. They raised $3B and ended up worse off financially. Only aggys could pull that off.

That happened because a new accounting standard kicked in for FY2018 that required a new method of recognizing total liabilities for pension benefits (mostly retiree health benefits). That accounting hit added over $2B to the aggy system pension liabilities and wiped out the increase in assets from the capital campaign. '

They are finally doing something about the dilapidated buildings on their campus and spending on capital assets. Next year, the endowment money the TAMU Foundation manage for SFA and Tarleton will need to be broken out which will affect the total the ags claim as their non-PUF endowment assets.

The net financial position of the A&M System is about 1/6 that of UT and their total assets are less than 20% of UTs.

Overall, A&M is a quaint, little organization that is only remarkable in their ability to be unremarkable.

Thought SFA was systemless and not affiliated with A&M.

The A&M System provides investment services to Midwestern State University (MWSU), Stephen F. Austin University (SFA), and Texas Woman’s University (TWU). As of August 31, 2018, the A&M System managed investments valued at $41,226,260.46 for MWSU, $71,621,794.15 for SFA, and $175,625,332.92 for TWU.

Serious question, why would TWU (for example) allow aggy to manage their 175Million.   Where is this financial savvy track record of aggy?

Yeah, it would be more exciting if we were one of those wins and Baylor had, instead of winning, been disintegrated by an alien warship.

Don't worry. We will be one of the Big 12 wins and that is the only one I care about. I don't give a shit if every other team loses. No conference pride here like those hillbillies in the SEC. Living off Bama's success.

I think Randolph mentioned the incident of an aggy, Charles Sessums, being killed at a Baylor game in Waco in 1926.

Here's the story with the guy who wrote the book about the incident.  Really interesting podcast regarding a terrible tragedy

Anyway, for haters of Baylor and aggy, I think there are parts of this podcast that everyone can find funny and interesting.

Couple of things that I picked up on

1.  Aggy has always been weird.  Even made fun of by Baylor fans nearly 100 years ago.

2.  Waco and Baylor and Mclennan County turned their heads the other way when it came to investigating this incident.  Why does that sound familiar?

Check it out if you have some time.

Is it ineptitude or outright fraud?

Ineptitude from the leadership...

Outright fraud from those who exploit the inept leadership like the ne who was making gold. The firm who came up with that monstrosity of a stadium and the construction crews who built it...  Jimbo Fisher.

The ags started the fight in 1926 when Sessums was killed. What isn't widely discussed is the ags were picking fights the week before at SMU by assaulting women in he stands. The Baylor fans knew the ags were probably going to do the same in Waco at their game and were ready. Sessums' death wasn't just an outlier. It was the result of incredibly bad sportsmanship and boorish behavior by the ags for many, many years, culminating with repeated fights in the stands started by the ags by assaulting women watching the gams (dates, spouses, mothers of players and fans). The fans of the SWC had had enough of aggy and Baylor fans were the ones to act. When Sessums was killed, it got the point across to the aggys that their behavior was a problem and things cooled off. For a very short while.

There are reasons people of Texas don't respect or even like aggys. It has been this was for well over 100 years and, in some ways, since the school was first approved by the legislature.

I did not know this tidbit of aggy history.  SMH.....

And 92 years later, one of their staff members makes news for trying to start a fight on the field with an opponents staffer who has Parkinsons and  a pacemaker.

Are we sure this wasn't another case of aggy on aggy violence? i mean they have a rich tradition of offing their own, intentional or not...   hell, the battle of the alamo---in lubbock could have easily produced another aggy down...  jesus, just the aggy version compared to visual evidence is aggy comedy at its norm.

Dayum RD you fucking slay me.

Gigum Texum Bulldog Aggy historian. All the history they didn't actually fabricate and don't want you to know.

The 1926 Baylor game is the one they claim they stole a 3,000 lb artillery piece, pushed it from campus to the railway depot (the piece was usually pulled by a team of 4 horses at a minimum), hoisted it on to a rail car, then changed trains and transferred the artillery piece ( there were no direct train routes from College Station to Waco at the time) and no one associated with the railway said anything about them not having tickets or transporting a stolen piece of government property the weight of a modern car.

And once they got to Waco, what were our intrepid aggy friends going to do with the howitzer? Yes, they did have a WWI surplus howitzer on the A&M campus in 1926 for the cadets to practice hooking up to the houses and moving around, but most military scientists, at some point in their careers, stumble onto the fact that artillery is useless without ammunition. Our aggys, being the military geniuses they are, have never stopped to realize the U.S. Army never stored any howitzer ammunition on the school campus. They had no firing range. They had no artillery instructors. The military had no reason to have any howitzer ammunition on a civilian school campus. They didn't even have proper facilities for securing the howitzer. Why would unneeded ammunition be stored within access to immature individuals with poor judgement who might also steal the ammunition to commit cold blooded murder over a football rivalry?

But, being aggys, they insist their fairy tale is true.

The state of Texas deserves better than Texas A&M.

Aggy crowing tonight is ridiculous.. saw this quote on Texags in regards to Tua's performance tonight:

Quote

Tua just got to face the type of defenses kyler saw all year

ummmm.

Alabama against OU tonight :  45 points, Tue : 24-27, 318 yards, 4 TDs,

Alabama against A&M in October : 45 points, Tua : 22-30, 387 yards, 4 TDs, 1 rushing TD

Aggy has zero self awareness.

Oh, and let's not forget the mighty SEC defenses that Alabama/Tua faced this season. They must have really kept Bama in check :

Ole Miss - 62 points

Arkansas - 65 points

Aggy - 45 points

Missouri - 39 points

Tennessee - 58 points

Auburn - 62 points

LSU - 29 points to 0

MissSt - 24 points to 0

Alabama beat every SEC foe by at least 22 points this season.

Actually, this is the first time I recall seeing Tua getting sacked and hit as much all year.  I could be wrong.

They'll lose a game or 2 to Miss. State, Auburn, and someone else.  Hell they only beat Arkansas by 7.  It's like they forgot Miss. State has owned them the last 3 seasons.

They're also going to get run through the meat grinder in Baton Rouge. They are gifted a 7 OT game at home against Swamp Kitty and suddenly they take for granted that they're better than LSU. They haven't even proven themselves equal to them, nor are they ever likely to do so.

aggy's record against Bama, Auburn, LSU, and Mississippi State the last 5 years.

1-3

1-3

1-3

0-4

1-3 (took a miracle win to beat LSU)

Things might change but they were the exact same team this year as they have been in year's past. Beat shit nonconference teams and lose to the better SEC West teams.

Like I said a few weeks ago, aggy's worst nightmare is for the SEC East to get better. Those have been auto wins. Florida and Georgia turning the corner is not good.

Pretty sure a Patton quote backed up the howitzer story as being true.
