Reacher reminded me too much of the action hero character from the Simpsons who was supposed to parody Arnold.

This.  Even in the books, his Silver Star was from the Beirut barracks bombing.  It was Bosch (Michael Connelly series) that was a Vietnam tunnel rat vet in the books.  In the Prime series, they changed this him being a SF vet from Iraq/Afghanistan to align with current times

Same with the G I Joe/Snake Eyes movies.  Originally they were Vietnam vets, then changed it to Afghanistan.   My kid has been reading my G.I. Joe comics from the 80s and I’ve been peppered with a lot of Vietnam questions about Snake Eyes, Stalker, and Storm Shadow and how they were US Army LRRP/Rangers and why were they fighting the Vietnamese, etc.

Fascinated as a kid with the LRRP's.  Read every book I could get my hands on.  How they'd set up ambushes - differing styles (daisy chain of claymores vs L-shaped rifle preference) and how they tie a red smoke grenade to their boot string on the flight into the firebase to signal a successful raid coming home.  Those guys were something else.

As someone who enjoys the admittedly largely mediocre and repetitive books, that looks fucking terrible.

I was very wrong. That was a solid, fun watch.

Pos rep for owning it and also for the handle and photo from one of my favorite shows.

Enjoyed the series except for one scene. I bought that he couldn’t kill the Venezuelan special forces easily. He said as much. But the fact that Joe Billy Georgia almost killed Reacher in hand to hand combat just because he had a crowbar was dumb.

Agreeance. The other thing was the lack of media attention. You think some Atlanta station might have picked up on a town of 1700 having so many murders in just a few days?

I finished it.  It started fun and kind of trailed off quite a bit towards the end.  I assume the book isn't exactly a high thinker or else this show didn't do it justice as it pretty much became as low brow formulaic action porn as you get.  Reacher sure does seem to struggle with 150lb hillbillies in fist fights though.  Maybe that's his kryptonite.

I don't think the Pulitzer Prize Committee has given it any serious consideration yet

I'm in episode 2.  It's a fun watch so far but some of the acting is straight up bad and his tough guy shit talking one liners come off as a bit corny to me.

In the first episode there's a scene where he's correcting the detective that after 12:00 midnight is technically morning and not "at night" and he comes off like a pedantic dork making an argument some 3rd grader would make just to be purposefully annoying.  Yet I think that was the writers trying to make him seem clever?  Yikes.

I had a teacher once that was a Marine and he actually talked like that…so that was actually pretty funny to me.

Very militaristic approach to things.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. The entire thing is obviously fucking ridiculous but it's a fun watch, and the lead can seriously act (which is funny as he's been a C/D lister his entire career).

I guess each season will be a different book?

This looks better than S1 and S1 was good.

This looks fantastic, and yeah, S1 was very good.  Helps that Lee Child is heavily involved.  Wonder what his cameo will be this season.

Random setting.
New set of clothes.
Kick ass.
Toothbrush and passport.
Rinse and repeat.

I wouldn’t change a thing.

But sadly Lee Child did by bringing in his talent-less hack of a brother.
