You need Gerry to tell you whether a guy deciding between Texas and Georgia transfers into an Atlanta high school for his senior season is a good or bad sign?

I would definitely superchat that question.

Thanks Gerry!

Alpharetta is the Westlake of Atlanta

Bullshit. I lived in the nicest part of Alpharetta IMO and it is like half the price of Westlake. Buckhead would be more comparable.

Sources around the Texas program feel good about the Longhorns position with Ruston (La.) High cornerback Aidan Anding.

Put him in the calculator. If Brandon Harris feels confident in landing him, then that’s good enough for me.

It's so funny to read and listen to the discrepancy in Jonah Williams. LSU thinks he will never play pro baseball because of his inconsistent hitting.

OTF thinks he will be a first round draft pick in next year's MLB draft & never play college football

@Hookem2147 what’s his actual scouting report?

I dont doubt you, but curious as to why you say that. He hasnt been to many schools and Texas is the only school he visited in the last few months. Did I miss something here?

I believe Texas also has an OV setup this fall

OTF talked to the player and family and their takeaway was that he'd be committing to Georgia soon and that him actually taking the OV in the fall to Texas was unlikely. Then today he comes out and says he's about to announce. Hold out hope if you'd like.

From what I know about him, he is more tools than production right now. He doesn't/hasn't played a ton against high-end competition, and when he has, his bat has apparently been really shaky. But he can really run and is up to 93-94 from the left side on the mound and that will grab the attention of any team.

MLB teams have really shied away from investing heavily (day 1 type money) in high schoolers with his type of profile in recent years.

I think a 50/50 chance of him making it to campus sounds about right currently, but it honestly may come down to what sport he prefers because the number of guys who play both at a high level in college is basically zero and I don't see Jonah Williams as Kyler Murray. And if he prefers baseball, that might bring the draft more into play because he could be willing to sign for a reasonable amount.

IMG would have helped for baseball. It might not matter though.

Agreed, with your point on the MLB Draft. Many teams, especially the Astros, prefer having the college baseball development and data points.

He allegedly had a great camp in Atlanta this summer against top tier competition. If true, that's a driver for OTF. All 4 of their guys, GH, BB, CJV, and BM have connections to both the scouting world for MLB and to the college baseball world.

I heard he was much more impressive on the mound than with the bat at that tournament, which is interesting because you usually hear more about him as an outfielder.

Something that raised my eyebrow is that he tried out for the Area Code team this summer but wasn't selected, and pro scouts put that roster together. Maybe he just had a bad day at the tryout but that is typically an event you need to play in if you are going to be a slam dunk high school selection.

If you keep this kind of thing up, I'm going to start convincing myself that he might actually show up to bust somewhere in college.

People that can’t consistently hit high school pitching don’t usually figure out how to hit milb pitching, absent some major flaw that for some reason never got corrected by travel or high school coaching.
So he needs to be choosy with getting the most money now at whatever sport/team vs risking demonstrating he isn’t worth big money by lack of performance in college at one or both sports.

Coaches are trying to get him in for the Georgia game.

Add Lockett and Ffrench and we're cooking. We're adding them. Throw in Terry and it's getting real. Flip Myron Charles (which I believe we do), add in Chace Sims, and DJ Sanders and we be rolling. We'll add a few more DB'S and we'll be top 5 again.

It's good to not be poor.

I hope the Aggies see this. They'll explode.

tu calling itself an Ivy League school! They're not Stanford. These kids get taken in by the hype and glitter. tu has always been about appearances.* I bet a lot of these kids change there minds about tu when they loose to us at Kyle.

*I always think of appearing in championship games, winning major bowls, and generally just being more apparent than Texas A&M University Home of the Fightin' Texas Aggies from Texas. HOWDY!

There are many, many more high achieveing high school grads (1500+ SATs, 4.0 UW GPAs, steller extracurriculars) than there are available slots at the Top 20 or so elite private universities. This has created a market of angry/frustrated parents of these kids who eat up articles like this one from Forbes. What this all means is that if we don't flip Myron Chalres, I am going to do a 3am Clown-Porn-Bombing of this very recruiting board that most of you can't handle.

Oh, man. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll finally get the fisting extravaganza this board was once promised from a certain poster who will remain unnamed.
