Are we pursuing any of the top 2025 WRs other than the two Oregon commits? I haven't heard anything, but seems like Brown III's commitment to Florida could be vulnerable and would be a complementary body type/play style to our current commitments. Barring those guys, it seems like taking McCutcheon, who is a nice player in his own right and fits a need in the class, is the path of least resistance. They appear to love Kelshaun Johnson, but I imagine that is a situation where A&M would go jihad to make sure we don't take their only WR commit.

I'm hoping the staff stays on Dallas Wilson, no matter how little of a chance we have. That kid is elite. If Stein leaves after tree season, then maybe we can poach him. I don't care about DM, but Wilson is what we need. He's a dude.

1) That one dude seems right regarding McCutcheon not being a take. I like the guy as a prospect, personally. I also liked Chase, who I think is headed to OU. DM is a back burner/slowplay for Banks and Sarkisian while they continue to target higher ranked guys committed elsewhere. I’m not going to be surprised if Jackson is a little irritated with this situation and cycle.

2) The McGuire guy is interesting on two fronts.

a) He’s redefining the term “Black Irish”, for sure.

b) They must see something they really like besides just his massive size that no doubt gets Flood more excited than it should.

They’re running the guy through the program as fast as they can, I think. No redshirt, garbage minutes, no buzz.

Parker Livingstone came to Texas to do two things:

1) Slay as much pussy as quickly as possible.

2) Stand on the sidelines of Texas games and cheer on the non-JAGgers getting playing time and making plays.

This fucking guy is absolutely crushing it. Good for him.

Would you say he's "learned a lot about living and a little bout love"

I live in DFW.  I'll be at the TX/OU tailgate.

Also, I’m not dumb enough to say that those guys will spill all their info for a party trick, but they enjoy talking about this shit. So you if you said something like “hey what’s the deal with wynns recruitment, you think the staff is still on him?” Or “I saw we got a hi last night. How long do you think it’ll take that one to pop.” Be creative to get what you want.

$20 is $20 last time I checked.

Gerry and Bobby seem to be developing the position that Texas is going to take McCutcheon. I’m guessing he’s the “hi” and we’ll hear more about it soon.

That take leads to the next take that likely one WR role will be targeted in the portal, likely the fastest guy available with some proven numbers. No one has a clue yet who that will be, but it is a given that several fitting this description will be there.

Micah Hudson. Apparently we’ve kicked the tires on him recently. We’ll see if that’s actually legit. Unproven in my opinion, but I’ll defer to the opinions of the staff at this point.

Texas Longhorns recruiting: Yes, maybe or no

The October 1 edition of Yes, maybe or no takes a look at whats left in the 2025 class with coaches on the road late in the week.

The criteria this week is pretty simple. Yes is has a visit scheduled or made this season, and OTF currently really likes Texas' chances. Maybe is has has a visit scheduled or already made a visit, and the Horns have a shot. No is there is not a visit currently scheduled, and there needs to be one for the flip or win to become realistic.

Here is the latest installment of Yes, maybe or no with the understanding that the majority of these battles are national or SEC powers fights - and you will never win them all.

Yes

Michael Terry II, ATH, San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
OTF %: 75% for the Horns.

Daylan McCutcheon, WR, Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy - *FSU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
The juice: Visited for the Mississippi State game. McCutcheon and family spoke with Coach Sarkisian and Coach Jackson multiple times since the visit.
OTF %: 75% for the Horns with the final push.

Javion Hilson, EDGE, Cocoa (Fla.) High
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
Next visit: Georgia game October 19 most likely.
OTF %: 75% for the Horns.

Maybe

Joseph Mbatchou, DL, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
Visit note: OV scheduled for Georgia game October 19. Texas, Alabama and Georgia battling here - as of today.

Walter Mathis, DL, Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day *LSU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
Visit date: Unofficial visit to Texas targeted for October 19 for the Georgia game.

Kevin Wynn, DL, Greensboro (Ga.) Greene County *FSU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
Visit note: Wynn wants to visit Texas, but Texas wants both parents to make the trip. Georgia may end up the compromise school.

Riley Pettijohn, LB, McKinney (Texas) High
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
The juice: Texas working to get the DFW area star on campus October 19. Pettijohn, himself, preferred Texas for most of the process.

No

Dallas Wilson, WR, Tampa (Fla.) Tech - *Oregon commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star

Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville (Texas) Tech - *Oregon commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
Note: He will be in Austin during the season to see family, of course.

Kelshaun Johnson, WR, Hitchcock (Texas) High *Texas A&M commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star+
The visit: Johnson told OTF he plans to attend the Georgia game October 19. Will Texas choose McCutcheon over Johnson, and go to the portal for the jet pack WR to replace Bond? That's seemingly trending right now.

Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas) Tech - *Oklahoma commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
Note: Still not in communication with Texas as of Monday.

Lamont Rogers, OT, Mesquite (Texas) Horn - *Missouri commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
Note: Remains in communication with Texas as of Monday. But will have to get to Austin for it to get real.

Jahkeem Stewart, DL, New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
Note: Stewart and his circle are in communication with Texas, but a long shot at the moment.

Floyd Guidry Jr., DL, Spring (Texas) High *TCU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star
Note: Texas has talked with Guidry multiple times.

Zion Williams, DL, Lufkin (Texas) High *LSU commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star
Visit note: Williams has now talked to Texas about the possibility of a game visit, but still a long shot.

Madden Faraimo, LB, San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) J Serra Catholic
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
Note: Notre Dame again trending here according to those in communication with the circle.

Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, LB, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star
Visit note: Official visit bumped back to November 22 for the Kentucky game.

Devin Sanchez, CB,  Houston (Texas) North Shore - *Ohio State commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
Note: Texas still attempting.

Dorian Brew, CB, Conroe (Texas) High - *Oregon commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
OFT note: But we are monitoring the Georgia game weekend.

Dijon Lee, CB, Mission Viejo (Calif.) High - *Alabama commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star++
Note: Game visit not out of the question, but flipping from Bama is a long shot. Georgia still trying too.

Na'eem Offord, CB, Birmingham (Ala.) High - *Ohio State commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 5-star
Note: A game visit isn't out of the question, but nothing concrete.

Cobey Sellers CB, Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek - *Texas A&M commit
OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star
Note: Talks with Texas multiple times per week. Remaining pretty solid with the Aggies this season thus far.

With Texas 5-0 and ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll, it’s kind of hard to switch some of the focus to recruiting.

But that’s exactly what Texas coaches are doing this week, at least to a certain degree.

The coaches will fan out across the state and country in search of future Longhorns. Trips are planned to Georgia, Florida, Alabama, California and Texas.

Some coaches will be on the road Thursday and almost all of them will be out on Friday.

**

So what are the needs and priorities of the Longhorns the rest of the way?

One thing is clear for Steve Sarkisian. He is big-game hunting. The Longhorns, first and foremost, are looking for difference makers at any position.

So if you’re someone they believe can be a star, like Ryan Wingo, Anthony Hill or Colin Simmons, the Horns are not backing down. Sark knows difference makers are the difference between 9-3 or 10-2 and perhaps playing for a national championship.

Beyond that, there are significant, additional positional needs that must be addressed at DL, CB and S.

So look for a combination of big-game hunting and positional recruiting this week, or in a best case scenario, a combination of both.

**

Here’s a reminder: expect Texas to not only see players in the 2025 class but also a few in 2026. And there are a couple of 26s close to making an earlier than expected decision, too.

**

I’m starting to think some more about portal recruiting as well.

Where will Texas need to supplement its roster this off-season?

Perhaps at running back with the rehab of Cedric Baxter ongoing. Could Texas use an elite OL with a heavy load of starting experience? Defensive tackle seems like a no-brainer need given Sydir Mitchell’s situation. What about even a wide receiver if multiple leave for the NFL?

We won’t have a firm grasp of portal needs until probably November when it starts getting more defined who will likely be leaving early for the NFL.

I’m wondering if that’s more coming from the MH side than anything. Not saying that for certain, but I asked about him recently. The view then was that:

1) he didn’t handle his relationships with Texas folks all that well in the first place, which can always be overcome but …

2) there are always so many good WR options in the portal that the expectation is that speedsters with stats will be the priority, same as this year.

3) the Big 12 and ACC as additional farm systems only amplifies that upside.

I guess we’ll see. I know you have reliable info as well. Good to have multiple data points for the board.

Also you should be able to see the field at fucking Texas Tech.

I looked at 100m times on the 3 big Freshmen WRs. Williams is the slowest of the group (still fast), but he is the quickest (C.O.D)

Smith OSU- 10.26 100m

Wingo- 10.55

Williams- 10.68

Smith and Wingo are both ~6'3" and 210 vs 6' and 175 for Williams.

They’re all pretty fucking awesome. Williams also seems to possess the ability to bend space and time to his will, and contort his body to match, which is nice. That might make up for a few tenths of a second.

IT is saying to watch who Sark visits Friday.  Says it's a high rated recruit that's committed elsewhere and they think it's someone Sark feels good about flipping since he's going to see them Friday.

Riley Pettijohn?

What is the exact post wording?

Ryan Williams has the best start/stop of those guys. He's the best of that bunch and I don't think it's very close as far as WR play goes.

He looks generational at this point. Smith and Wingo are either as good as their hype or better and Williams looks like he’s a cut above both of them.

Lot of time left for all of them, though. The odds are strong that at least one flames out due to injury, drugs, pussy, whatever. The odds aren’t bad that two of them do, frankly. All are playing within strong cultures, so maybe that shields all 3 in this instance. Then it would just be staying healthy.

It's kind of relative. Williams ran a 10.68 as a sophomore, that is still flying. Smith is basically a Greek God. He has made some crazy catches. He will absolutely destroy the combine.

To put it in context I think Worthy was around a 10.5 as a soph. Wingo, Smith, and Williams are just freaks. The interesting thought is where would these guys go in this year's draft, if they were eligible.

What’s interesting to me is that Wingo isn’t getting the same run at a national level as the other two, but he’s still getting a lot of mention. In terms of stat totals, he’s not even close to the production as the other two yet, even though he’s posted great numbers for a freshman.

Ohio State doesn’t “have” to have Smith putting up numbers any more than Texas needs Wingo to do so. They have less depth but also other star players.  He’s just so good that they can’t help themselves.

Alabama has to have Williams posting numbers. Dude is a godsend for them. If he gets hurt, they’re a totally different offense because they don’t have the game breakers at WR or TE that they’ve grown accustomed to over the least 17 years.

Georgia has a pretty experienced defensive back field and a guy who should be a high school senior made them look silly.  Wingo is also gonna be really good, but Williams looks like the kind of wr that wins a Heisman in Sark's offense.

Feels like Wingo would put up those numbers if Sarkisian did a poor job of managing the roster in the offseason.

Golden is like a turbo edition of Quan Cosby and Bond is fast as fuck.

I prefer having what we have currently.  Pick your poison.  Any of our wide receivers can beat the opposition deep.

This would be weird because the one knock on Hudson coming out was speed.  As good as he is/was, he’s not a burner and actually went out of his way to avoid running 40s at camps and events.  If anything he’s like a smaller, more polished Kaliq Lockett

Regarding TB, there is a better than zero chance of a Roshon Johnson scenario playing out in the spring as well. Sarkisian is fucking creative, so there’s that.

Cole Lourd is going to be an awful running back.

I was thinking more Derion Gullette. It’s pretty much his best bet at seeing the field at this point.

Put me down for the fuck no category wrt Micah Hudson
