The Stampede: Where remaining 2025 targets are trending exactly one month away from Early Signing Day

Quote

We're exactly one month away from the start of the December 4-6 early signing period.

The Texas Longhorns enter the final month of the 2025 recruiting cycle holding 21 commitments in its class, good for the No. 6 ranked recruiting class in the nation only behind Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn.

But the thing is, the burnt orange aren't done yet, as several uncommitted priority targets and committed priority flip targets still remain in play for the Longhorns to continue bolstering their recruiting class that already holds four commitments from 247Sports Composite five-stars.

With about a dozen and a half targets still remaining for Texas in 2025, Horns247 brings you the latest on each target and where they're trending in this week's edition of The Stampede, Horns247's weekly gathering of recruiting intel.

Let's get into it.

ATHLETE
San Antonio Alamo Heights five-star Michael Terry III

The nation's No. 1 ranked athlete prospect gave quotes to 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Mike Roach on Friday night about him considering announcing a commitment when he's presented his Navy All-American Bowl jersey on Wednesday Nov. 6 in a ceremony at Alamo Heights high school. This nuggets aligns with what Horns247 has been hearing going back to the beginning of the season, as a source in San Antonio has been steadfast in his belief that the five-star won't actually take his recruiting process all the way to the final month of the year. With a decision heavily expected to take place this month, Horns247 is yet to waver in our strong belief that Terry will eventually end up committing to the program who grew up watching and a fan of — the Texas Longhorns. — SCRUGGS

OFFENSIVE TACKLE
Lewisville five-star Michael Fasusi — Oklahoma commit

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and special assistant to the head coach Chris Gilbert were both present at Fasusi's home game vs. Denton Guyer on Friday evening, as was Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. A source I spoke with told me Fasusi was able to catch up with each coach, and that his longest conversation with any coach on the day happened to be with Gilbert when he stopped by the school during the school day before returning with Sark later in the day in a helicopter just before gametime. Fasusi highlighted the heart-to-heart conversation he had with Gilbert and that he loved his message and loved talking to him when speaking with Soonersillustrated's Collin Kennedy on Friday night after his game. The five-star also didn't necessarily rule out taking more visits between now and early signing day, but with this being the last week of the regular season before Lewisville starts their playoff run, timing could be tricky for getting the 6-foot-5, 300 pounder to campus between now and Dec. 4. A source I spoke with this weekend sees Fasusi only making an immediate, quick decision if Bedenbaugh happens to be fired from the Sooners' staff between now and Dec. 4. Even with Oklahoma's struggles on the offensive line this season, sources are expecting Bedenbaugh to return to Norman for next year as things currently stand, so I'm not really expecting Fasusi to flip as things currently stand in early November. A source in DFW believes Fasusi's relationship with Bedenbaugh outweighs his relationship with Kyle Flood, and Texas A&M offensive line coach Adam Cushing. Even though other schools are attempting to make runs at flipping the five-star, the DFW source believes the Longhorns and the Aggies are the only programs with actual chances of flipping the five-star, although those chances don't seem very high at the moment. I'm not sure what Texas will be able to do to pull this one off, as the variables (early playing time opportunities, relationships) still remain the same with the Sooners about two months removed from when Fasusi chose Oklahoma on August 21. I do know the Longhorns won't throw in the towel and that they plan to recruit Fasusi through the whistle, but a return visit to Austin might be necessary for a flip to happen and as stated before, the timing will be tricky. This one is also tricky with Fasusi's best friend and Lewisville teammate Sean Hutton committed to the Sooners as a legacy preferred walk-on, as if Fasusi were to decommit, it would not only be saying bye to Oklahoma, but it'd be backing out of the plans the two friends set to be each others' roommates in Norman year one. As of right now I lean towards the five-star sticking with Oklahoma, but, it is worth remembering Texas has figured out ways to win these types of recruitments before. However, I don't think we're quite 'there yet' in seeing a flip as having a high chance of happening. More work will need to be done between now and signing day, and while Chris Gilbert's involvement in the recruitment certainly seems to be helping, the relationship with Bedenbaugh continues to be the best relationship in this recruitment. — SCRUGGS

DEFENSIVE LINE
Manchester (Ga.) five-star Justus Terry

Texas jumped in late but is still taking a swing at the five-star Peach State standout. The Longhorns got Justus Terry on campus for an official visit during Georgia weekend, and while UT didn't come out with a win, the atmosphere and hospitality still impressed Terry and his family. He told Horns247 that Texas made a "big jump" in his recruitment. Terry has been committed to both USC and Georgia in the past. Checking in with multiple sources, the thought Terry will end up back with the Bulldogs. One source did say that if anything did go sideways with UGA, that Texas is the team to watch. The Longhorns will keep chipping away but this one still appears to favor the Bulldogs at the moment. —SOUTH

TRENDING: Georgia

Greensboro (Ga.) Greene County four-star Kevin Wynn — Florida State commit

If you ask me, it would be a surprise if Kevin "Juju" Wynn remained committed to Florida State. The Seminoles are trudging through a nightmare 2024 season and have lost several commitments, two of which flipped to Texas (Myron Charles and Daylan McCutcheon). The Longhorns would love to make it three but need to get Wynn back on campus for a game. He was tentatively expected to visit for Georgia weekend but had to reschedule. Texas is working on getting him in either this upcoming weekend for Florida or during Kentucky weekend. It's worth noting the Wynn camp does want to get back to Austin, so it's not just the Longhorns staff working to get him in. USC and Georgia seem to be the other two threats to the Seminoles. This one seemed more favorable to the Longhorns earlier this fall. Until he gets back on campus it's hard to put a finger on it. —SOUTH

TRENDING: Away from Florida State, TBD to where

Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star Joseph Mbatchou

If you follow the visits, Texas is doing great in this one. The Longhorns got Joseph Mbatchou on campus twice this fall already, once for UTSA and then again for an official visit during Georgia weekend. Upon returning home from Austin last month, Mbatchou decommitted from Florida. It's worth noting he told Horns247 that the Longhorns were just behind the Gators leaving the Forty Acres. Now Texas has several other visits to weather, including a trip to Michigan at the end of last month, Auburn this past weekend, and trips to Georgia, Tennessee, and USC on the horizon. Horns247 has been consistent in reporting we think this is a Texas/Auburn race for Mbatchou, and that hasn't changed. The Tigers are great at getting kids on campus and have a strong NIL presence but the wins haven't been there this season. Could that play a role in Mbatchou's final decision? That remains to be seen. —SOUTH

TRENDING: Auburn/Texas

Richmond Randle three-star Chace Sims — Texas A&M commit

Sims scheduled an official visit with Texas for the Mississippi State weekend, but when visiting College Station for A&M's game vs. Bowling Green the weekend before, Mike Elko and the Aggies staff were able to get him to cancel the trip. He did just that and hasn't rescheduled an official visit with Texas since, but he did show up as an unofficial visitor for the Texas-Georgia game. He hasn't returned to the Forty Acres since and still doesn't have an official visit to Austin scheduled so it's hard to picture a flip happening as things currently stand, but he did speak on record earlier this fall about wanting to make his final decision on sticking with A&M or heading elsewhere in the month of December. We'll see what happens, but for right now it seems as if A&M will hold onto his commitment heading into signing day. — SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Texas A&M

Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day School three-star Walter Mathis — LSU commit

Another top defensive line target the Longhorns would like to get in town this month, Mathis, too, was expected for the Texas-Georgia game, but couldn't make it in after all. LSU seems to have a pretty good grip on his commitment at this point in time, per sources, but Kenny Baker continues to work on the Georgia native. As long as he's open to communication and willing to take a visit, Texas will continue trying. The Longhorns still have an official visit to use if they are able to get something on the calendar. —SOUTH

TRENDING: LSU

EDGE
Cocoa (Fla.) four-star Javion Hilson

It's going to come down to Texas and Texas A&M for the one-time Florida State and Alabama commit. And it's kind of wild when you look back at this recruitment over the last year. The Longhorns really got involved in the summer, getting Javion Hilson on campus for an official visit while he was committed to the Seminoles. At the time he said it was Texas or Florida State before reaffirming his pledge to the Noles a few weeks later. Fast forward to the fall and Hilson backed off his pledge to FSU and it's Texas that's been trending ever since. Texas A&M got Hilson in town for the LSU game (one week after Texas hosted him for the Georgia game) and garnered some buzz. Hilson is expected back in College Station for the Texas game later this month. I've seen all the Aggies buzz and I think it's real, but I believe there's still confidence on the Texas end as well. This one will play out into December before Hilson makes a final choice. —SOUTH

TRENDING: Texas

LINEBACKER
San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra Catholic four-star Madden Faraimo

A return trip to Austin for an unofficial visit for the Kentucky game on Nov. 23 still remains a possibility, but to my knowledge that trip still isn't locked into the calendar. And with Faraimo already having seen games in South Bend and at the Coliseum this fall with return trips planned to Notre Dame on Nov. 9 when the Irish host Florida State and Los Angeles on Nov. 30 when USC hosts Notre Dame, it's hard to expect Texas to win this one unless he visits Austin again. USC and Notre Dame seem ahead of Texas and Washington by a decent amount right now, and unless Faraimo visits Austin between now and signing day, the Irish and the Trojans will be who I expect the decision to actually come down to. —SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Notre Dame/USC

McKinney four-star Riley Pettijohn — Ohio State commit

Although he was present for the Texas-Georgia game on Oct. 19, Horns247 continues to like the chances of Pettijohn sticking with the Buckeyes, at least as things currently stand. Pettijohn had a poor official visit experience when he tripped to Austin the June 14-16 weekend, and while he was the only recruit Horns247 heard that had a poor experience amongst the 42 total prospects that officially visited Texas over the summer, it was still enough to turn him off of the Longhorns as the burnt orange were not in real consideration when he gave his commitment to Ohio State on July 6 as Texas finished behind the Buckeyes along with USC and Texas A&M. My belief is that a meeting between a few Texas coaches and Pettijohn's camp where they could have a true heart to heart conversation is probably necessary for Texas to have a legitimate chance at pulling off a flip, and to my knowledge that didn't happen when Pettijohn brought his younger brother, cousin, (who are younger LB prospects at McKinney) and family to the Texas-Georgia game on Oct. 19. Coaching staffs will never bat .1000 in recruiting and it's unfair to expect the Texas staff to do that, and with two solid linebacker pledges Bo Barnes and Jonathan Cunningham already in the class and the Longhorns seemingly in better position with the three other linebackers in this story, Horns247 doesn't currently expect Pettijohn to end up in the Texas class come Dec. 4. — SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Ohio State

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng

After visiting Michigan this past weekend for his second Wolverines game visit of the season, the schools in the driver's seat for Owusu-Boateng continue to feel like Michigan and Notre Dame. Owusu-Boateng is also scheduled to return to South Bend on an unofficial visit for the Florida State game on Nov. 9 before getting to Texas for an official visit the Kentucky game weekend (Nov. 22-24). Ohio State and USC seem to be pretty much out of the picture, with Texas and Colorado making up the schools in the second tier behind Michigan and Notre Dame. Owusu-Boateng has never tripped to Austin before so it's a bit hard to picture Texas winning him over in one weekend when he's been getting heavily pursued by Michigan and Notre Dame for years. Texas has pulled things like this off before though, and as late as last year, recruited IMG Academy pretty well in landing Jerrick Gibson and Jordon Johnson-Rubell. While those fellow IMG teammates will likely end up spending a lot of time around Owusu-Boateng when he officially visits Texas, Michigan has two of his current IMG teammates committed in 2025 and Notre Dame is where Owusu-Boateng's brother played linebacker before getting drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. It'll be hard to know Texas' true chances until the official visit to Austin has been completed, but for right now I believe the Longhorns are behind both Michigan and Notre Dame. —SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Michigan/Notre Dame

Seffner (Fla.) Armwood three-star Kellen Wiley

Texas wants to add another linebacker or two in this 2025 class and offered Kellen Wiley Jr. last week and quickly got him scheduled for an official visit this upcoming weekend for the Florida game. Entering the weekend Miami is considered the team to beat for Wiley but that could change after he spends his allotted 48 hours in Austin. Wiley has family in Central Texas, which could make the distance not as much as a factor, too. —SOUTH

TRENDING: Miami

CORNERBACK
Galena Park North Shore five-star Devin Sanchez — Ohio State commit

This one will continue to be extremely unrealistic for Texas and others making attempts at flipping the nation's No. 1 cornerback prospect unless Sanchez shows up on a visit on a campus outside of Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State defensive backs coach Tim Walton is the biggest reason for Sanchez choosing the Buckeyes so early in the process, and as long as Walton is coaching Buckeyes defensive backs, it'll continue to be pretty hard to imagine Sanchez backing off of his Ohio State commitment he gave back in November of 2023 and went public with on Jan. 6, 2024. — SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Ohio State

Conroe four-star Dorian Brew — Oregon commit

This one continues to be a really hard one to get a consistent read on. A source I spoke with in Houston on Friday afternoon told me they believe Texas "is right behind Oregon" as things currently stand but mentioned that they also believe Texas will need to win out the rest of their games on its regular season schedule in order to pull off a flip as the Ducks are currently the No. 1 ranked team in the land and with games remaining vs. Maryland, Wisconsin, and Washington, it's hard not to see Oregon finishing the regular season undefeated. Conroe has its last regular season game of the year on Friday before gearing up for the playoffs, so the source mentioned it'll be hard for him to get to more visits between now and Dec. 4. A visit to Texas would obviously be easier than visiting Oregon again as it's a car ride compared to a plane ride, but for now I'm told there's nothing on the schedule as well as there's no current expectation for Brew to take another visit before signing day. That could obviously always change though. Don't get me wrong I think a flip is realistic, but I need to catch up with more sources and hear more about the Longhorns before I start to feel like Texas will be the eventual destination. One thing of note however, the source I spoke with on Friday told me that Texas is the only school they'd see Brew flipping to, so the expectation here is he's gonna either stick with Oregon or perhaps flip to Texas. With exactly one month remaining before signing day, this one is far from over as Texas will be recruiting the versatile 6-foot, 200 pounder with incredibly impressive bloodlines until the ink has dried on Dec. 4. However as things currently stand, I have to continue leaning towards Oregon. —SCRUGGS

TRENDING: Oregon

Zephyrhills (Fla.) Wiregrass Ranch four-star Graceson Littleton

Graceson Littleton decommitted from Clemson on Friday. The Longhorns also offered the Top100 cornerback this week. Michigan got Littleton in town this past weekend for the Oregon game, but without getting a pledge from Littleton coming out of the weekend, perhaps the door is open for Texas to make a move. The Longhorns will work to get him on campus for one of its two home games this month. Texas hosted Littleton on an unofficial visit in the spring as well. The Wolverines still appear to have the upper hand but Texas can and likely will make it interesting. —SOUTH

And Hilson. that gets us a top 4 class. I believe we'll get someone we're not expecting at the moment.

I don't expect us to shit the bed at corner. We will do something. And even though we have a decent linebacker class, I expect us to pick up another.

Gerry is set on Texas not being hell bent on Highschool DB Recruiting and would gladly go to the portal.

Like I said Terry and Hilson gets us to top 4 maybe even 3 and I do believe we will get someone no one is expecting at the moment.

I think we finish with a top 3 class no lower than 4.

Hey $9.95 fucks, quit making references to other sports, especially when you have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about.

Ol' Sonny Dykes out at TCU is putting up a development rate around .1000

Yeah, I've been getting the same for the last few weeks. I was about to post one on the Fake News thread but was too lazy/didn't care.

I like the fishing, animals, and national parks ones. How do you block them, though? The Longhorn ones are all BS.

You click the 3 dots at the top right of the post.  There will be some kind of option there to hide all posts from that page, or sometimes it says "I don't want to see this" and you click that for the option to block the page.

I used to tell people that if you’re having a bad time at a party, then you’re the loser. Having said that, what was the Pettijohn thing? Is he just a pussy? I feel like Seinfeld’s mom here. How could anyone not like us?

The Stampede: Where remaining 2025 targets are trending exactly one month away from Early Signing Day

Well that was a bummer to read. Sark always has a flip card up his sleeve evert single year, so I'm not going to panic. Plus, I get Fasusi wanting early playing time, but he ain't Kelvin Banks, plus he woukd get wrecked next season. Not to mention he would be behind Goosby (who has looked good) and Brandon Baker (who has also looked good), but if he wants to get developed before getting his shit pushed in, he should really think about flipping and taking it a year a two before starting.

Regardless, I'm more for Turntine III, who is apparently the best OT regardless of class. He's not a bitch and wants to get developed.

My irrelevant thoughts is we'll pull Brew and a LB out of the Southeast.

IT is hitting readers over the head with Wynn wants to be a chef sentiments in every article. FSU and Georgia have culinary programs. Texas does not. Feels like a lay up for Kirby.

I’m shocked we haven’t seen any senior late bloomer names yet.
