Kinda weird to say "as high as No. 3" when those 3 "Yes" guys alone put the composite at 308.47 on 247, which would've been good enough for 3rd the last few years.

Only two teams finished over 300 points last year. There are already 3 this year and we haven’t even gotten to early NSD yet. Last year won’t be an accurate gauge for this one.

Then recruits will be even more evenly distributed this year and the top few team scores will likely be lower, requiring a lower score to finish top 3.

I don’t think that’s how that works. The top 3-5 teams aren’t necessarily taking recruits from each other, they could be taking the best kids from the schools below them, which would be the exact opposite of recruits being evenly distributed.

Oregon finished 3rd last year with a lower score than we have right now and we’re currently 6th.

As I’ve commented on the board before about MT3, I have a younger sibling who goes to school with him. He’s been telling other kids it’s Texas. It’s a consensus with what the mods have reported. To add; he grew up a huge Longhorns fan.

Apparently Oregon made a nice deal, but that is not the family’s main concern.

Take it for what it’s worth on high school kids gossip, just passing along optimism.

Can't wait to get HIM.  HE is going to be a beast.  And then when we get the other HE/HIMS, we will be set!

Could be true but most of those recruits are now committed regardless. There's only 8 left uncommitted in the top 150 and we're the favorites for 3 and in the mix for 2. 2 of the others appear to be favoring Notre Dame and Clemson or something. That 5 star kid that reclassified could be a wrinkle. With the expected type of finish, I still think 3rd is the likeliest outcome.

Ah the famous 5 star OL that they mention during every single FSU game.

FSU just fired their OC. A nice $6-7 million in dead money.

Bud Elliott went in on their defensive recruiting today. Basically said every guy they sign they had to overpay for because the defensive coaches can’t recruit for shit.

Yeah, I assume this was a high school game because aggy had a bye this past week

Rogers goes to Mesquite Horn and Barnes goes to Skyline. Those two teams just played each other Friday.

Texas makes statement with 4-star LB

The Texas Longhorns pursuit of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood linebacker Kellen Wiley continues to pick up steam.

Wiley and his parents made an official visit to Texas over the weekend. And according to a source close to the recruitment, the Longhorns hit a home run.

Wiley, 6-3.5 and 226-pounds, was very impressed with the plan the staff illustrated for him according to the source. That plan covered on-field development under Johnny Nansen, strength & conditioning with Torre Becton and the nutrition side. All-encompassing player development.

The family was also very impressed with the academic aspect and the feeling they got from the university overall.

The source said Texas has at least a 50-50 shot to win out for Wiley, with the understanding the Miami OV remains scheduled for November 23-24.

Kellen Wiley OV schedule

Louisville - October 4-6

Texas - November 9-10

Miami - November 23-24

Maryland is trying to get him in November 16-17.

Flip season: Any concern about Texas football commits taking visits elsewhere?

Flip season: Any concern about Texas football commits taking visits elsewhere?

Hank South (Horns 247)

Flip season giveth and flip season taketh away. Luckily for Texas football, the latter doesn't look like it's going to happen in the 2025 cycle, but it should be noted that recruiting is still recruiting, now more than ever in the NIL era.

For the most part, Texas pledges are locked in and focused on signing with the Longhorns on Dec. 4 when the Early Signing Period opens. The UT class is bought in and ready to continue the upward trajectory head football coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have going.

There are still three weeks left of the regular season, though, and Texas is only home for one of them (Kentucky on Nov. 23). That leaves a couple of opportunities for Texas commits to visit elsewhere.

Here's a look at Longhorns pledges that are worth just monitoring if nothing else.

Myron Charles, 4-star DL, Port Charlotte (Fla.) -- Texas commit

Since flipping to Texas from Florida State in September, Charles has been firm with the Longhorns. He told Horns247 last month his recruitment was still open, though, and he was looking at getting out to Florida sometime this season. That's expected to happen this upcoming weekend when the Gators host LSU. Still, the Port Charlotte product doesn't appear to be too much of a flip threat when all is said and done. Texas continues to treat Charles like the top priority he is.

Concern level: Low

Jaime Ffrench, 5-star WR, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin -- Texas commit

Ffrench was back in Austin this past weekend for the win over Florida. He plans to try and come back for the Kentucky game as well. He told Horns247 if he does go on another visit it would be an in-state school and only to see a good game. He followed up by letting Horns247 know he will indeed be in Gainesville this weekend for the LSU-Florida game. I still think it would be a long shot for any school to change Ffrench's mind on the Longhorns.

Concern level: Very low

Zelus Hicks, 4-star S, Carrollton (Ga.) -- Texas commit

Hicks reclassifed to 2025 last week and set an official visit to Texas for the Kentucky game. He recently travelled to Knoxville on an unofficial visit to see the Volunteers. Will he utilize any other OVs with his newly-altered recruiting classification? It's not clear just yet. Tennessee would probably be the one to watch closest, though. Hicks is very happy with the Longhorns and we haven't seen Texas make a push for another safety outside Hicks and Jonah Williams down the stretch.

Concern level: Low

Nick Brooks, 4-star OT, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson -- Texas commit

Texas landed a huge win in Brooks when he pledged to the Longhorns over Georgia and USC. As we round third to Early Signing Day, it's Auburn that's tried to make some noise in Brooks' recruitment. The UT pledge unofficially visited the Plains with his teammates a few weeks back during the Longhorns' bye-week. He informed Texas of his plans and there's little concern about his commitment standing. There are no other official visits set elsewhere for Brooks at this point in time.

Concern level: Low

Josiah Sharma, 4-star DL, Folsom (Calif.) -- Texas commit

The four-star defensive lineman flipped to Texas from Oregon in late July and hasn't looked back. Sharma recently told 247Sports he was still hearing from everyone that was trying to get him in the summer, like the Ducks and Washington, among others, but that he was happy with Texas and didn't plan to visit any other school besides UT. That still appears to be the case but it's always worth watching when your top commits are still being actively pursued.

Concern level: Low

I’m going to try to watch Alamo Heights at some point in the playoffs, looks like they will win 2 games before running into the Corpus Christi Miller buzzsaw. I can finally provide my scouting report on Terry, stat sheets don’t tell you everything.

I've seen two games, he's really good and pretty much their entire offense. They try to do other shit on offense but he's really all they have. Doesn't have elite speed but he's fast.

I notice his (by 5 star standards) pedestrian numbers. But from highlights his QBs look like a far step down from Ernst last year and the whole defense just keys in on him every play.

Yeah it's pretty bad....he somehow overthrows MT3 or just can't get the ball there. Their OL is not good either at least in the few games I saw. When their QB can't pass or their other RB can't run they just give it to MT3 and he pretty much does everything. I don't have the actualy numbers but I bet he accounts for like 3/4 of their offensive touchdowns or more.
