Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out

The esteemed Name-Based Recruiting Prognosticator (NBRP), me, is proclaiming that Littleton will be a solid contributor at Texas due to his name’s lyrical similarity to Carrington Byndom, also a solid contributor at Texas.

Be on the lookout for my post signing day review of all Texas 2025 recruits, where I will project their success based solely on their names.  This is science. You won’t find this type of quality content from a run of the mill 9.99 service.

I think that was MT3

You think that was MT3 despite the fact this kid dropped and bobby had the video ready to go, do yah, and despite the fact it's Thursday and no one else has committed yet?

What exactly are you basing this on, other than at the beggining of the week you assumed it was Terry becuase no one else was obviously on the radar and Hilson has a commitment date in December?

The screeching from LSU fans, who will somehow blame Texas's entry into the SEC for their drastically reduced ability to recruit and retain talent should be fine, regardless of whether or not it's our fault their state and alumni class are all poor losers.

TEXAS DID THIS!

Fine with me.  If we didn't we should have.

Fong and Chad Simmons on Miami and Florida pushing for Jaime Ffrench

The recruitment of five-star Mandarin (Fla.) wide receiver Jaime Ffrench has been a long and winding one.

At this time a year ago, Ffrench was committed to Alabama under Nick Saban. When he retired, Ffrench backed off that pledge and reopened his recruitment fully. Ohio State quickly became the leader in the clubhouse.

But as the spring went along, the Buckeyes faded and LSU, Miami and Texas looked to be the top teams. Eventually he committed to the Longhorns in late August after a drawn out process. But just a few months later, things are getting interesting again.

“There’s some buzz that ultimately it’s more likely he stays in the state than signs with Texas,” On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong said on Wednesday. “So you’ve got Miami, and you’ve got Florida battling for Ffrench.”

Added On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons: “I think there’s some confidence that Texas can keep him in this class. And they’ve been involved with him since the spring, getting his mom and dad on campus — Jamie as well. But Florida is not going away. They’re getting him on campus this weekend for an OV, a full weekend spent in Gainesville. Miami, he has been there numerous times. Kevin Beard and that staff is not going away.”

Early playing time, chance to play with DJ Lagway could be key for Ffrench

One of the biggest things in Florida’s favor — other than head coach Billy Napier being getting a vote of confidence earlier this month — is that the Gators have a quicker path to the field than the Longhorns.

While UF does have sophomore Aidan Mizell and Eugene Wilson III seeing playing time early, there’s still an opportunity for Ffrench to make an immediate impact. The chance to stay closer to home cannot be discounted, and neither can the ability to play with former Five-Star Plus+ quarterback DJ Lagway.

The Gators are also trending for four-star quarterback and current Florida State commit Tramell Jones, who is high school teammates with Ffrench at Jacksonville Mandarin.

Ffrench was actually in Austin for last weekend’s matchup between the Longhorns and Gators, and although Texas won handily, it didn’t prevent him from setting an official visit with UF.

The Hurricanes, meanwhile, haven’t hosted Ffrench since July but boast one of the best offenses — and wide receiver groups — in the country this season.

That...makes no sense. He can still see the field here just like Wingo did. Plus we have Arch who is superior to Lagway (no offense to the kid, as I've heard nothing but good things), but let's be real here. He can get developed by an actual WR coach, while also being in a system that is hugely WR friendly. Miami sucks and will move back down to their 6 win season, and UF back to 4-5.

Let's not forget we have KJ Lacey who looks like a baller, and Dia Bell. Trey Owens will light your ass up, too.

You literally typed the name “Hand” in your prior post.

Based on the fact that it’s Spider2YBanana, I’m guessing he mistyped Sark on his cellphone, and it autocorrected to Hand….and that he has absolutely no clue this happened.

Oh my dumb and old ass thought ‘bbq chicken’ means he gets ‘cooked’ often.

But as Ruth Langmore said, I don’t know shit about fuck.

It can mean that as well. Cook is saying he is going to cook him next year.

Seems Jontay believed he was great when he was worse than (the much less heralded) Moore. Now he’s behaving like a child, which he is. Hope he grows up.

I don’t know about “much less heralded”.  Moore was a top 150 prospect who was picking between Texas and Georgia.  But your point stands that Cook is behaving like a bitch.

I’m hearing Baylor for Cook, and by “hearing” I mean I read on a Facebook post from a Baylor $9.95 site that there’s been contact. So, I’m basically an insider.

Him and Dave Aranda is a very funny personality combination

He was definitely less heralded among Texas fans, though part of that was collateral damage as people puffed their chests and yelled that he was better than Evan Stewart

My memory of Moore’s recruitment was that it was us vs. Louisville

Deandre Moore was a 5 star for much of the early part of the cycle while he was committed to OU. Eventually, he decommitted when Riley left. His final group of suitors was Texas, Georgia, and Louisville due to the Pierce Clarkson connect and big time offer. Very well regarded prospect.
