Man the Chuckles era, with his cryptic stooge Higdon, really was the darkest timeline for the Texas football program. Add in Steve Patterson and it was just a shittastic crap sandwich all around.

Thank god for seven-win Steve ...

So, couple of interesting points re: the Gators.

- Florida's been considered the primary threat re: LB Kellen Wiley and Jaime Ffrench

- the Gators just secured a flip/commitment from a highly rated LB who was previously committed to USC (Ty Jackson - # 124 composite overall), and they don't seem to have offered Kellen Wiley (yet, anyway)

- they've gotten a slew of Crystal Balls for Muizz Tounkara, a big WR currently committed to Arizona

Seem to augur well for Wiley and Ffrench.

A couple of relevant posts from Blake Alderman (Gators 247)

Guessing aggy is throwing a ridiculous amount of $$ to keep him from us.

Four-star++ Javion Hilson (Cocoa, Fla./High)

Hilson made an OV to Michigan over the weekend, and is scheduled to be at Texas A&M Saturday-Sunday for an OV. Texas vs. Texas A&M is where the decision was expected to come from headed into the Michigan visit.

A&M doesn't need us involved to back up the Brinks truck for elite DL.

I never understood this dumbass "10 win season" measuring stick bullshit. Who gives a fuck, other than Mack, about 10 wins? That's tard-level thinking. Alamo/Holiday bowl Mack.

I think it was purely moving the goalposts on an outcome variable by Mack to cover his ass. It gave him some "standard of excellence" while allowing for a loss to OU and someone else on the schedule.

In reality, it just meant Texas missed the BigXII South crown and a title game appearance, and settled for the Holiday/Alamo Bowl, as you mentioned. Real neat, FUPM.

Well back before they went to 12 games seasons 10 wins was a good metric. Just like 9 wins was a good metric in the 90s.

10 wins is "good," but it's all relative. In five of those nine 10-win seasons, Texas didn't play for shit at the end.

Winning all the time isn't good for the kids.

Mack used 9 wins as his goal.

God, even worse. No wonder we only have 3 conference titles from that shitty conference.

This actually makes a ton of sense.

Lulz ... this pic from Myron Charles - with the emoji of the house w/ the burnt orange roof - made me chuckle.

(Reminded me of the article on Barking Carnival - something like "Malcolm Brown lives in a Burnt Orange House!" :-).)

Didn’t someone recently say that Texas was trying to get this kid to open things back up?

Yea I think I remember seeing that and thinking if thats true, that kid was about to upgrade in life in a major way, all because he's good at drop kicking an inflated piece of leather.

We have 4. And it was a very good conference most of the time.

With the teams we had, we should have double or more than that. We by far had the best rosters, and yet Mack constantly got butt fucked by Stoops almost yearly, and add in K-State, Tech,or some other team we had superior talent to. Mack sucked as a HC, but he was a good smiley glad hand. There's a reason he was called coach February, and they weren't wrong. Very few times did we lose just 1 game. In fact, he has 3, and 1 undefeated season (remember, he was here for 15 years). Other than that, he has 2+ losses per season. We were constant holiday bowl attendees. But we did have great ST's for almost his entire tenure.

Stoops won the conference 7 times, and Mack just 2 times. How sad is that? Stoops is 8-5 over Mack, and then went on to wreck other teams on his way to yet another CC.

With all those NFL players we churned out during his tenure, it's pathetic he only had 2 CC's in his 15 seasons. John Mackovic has 1, Sark has the other 1.

And yet he was still a vast upgrade over Mackovic, McWilliams, and the later half of Akers.
