I love this woman.  Living the life that are unimaginable for many and all she wants is a QB to save their recruiting.  I guarantee you she posts on some UM message board.

How can you not love College Football?

She isn't stopping at QB either. Nate Marshall, supposedly Ty Haywood in play, the Ellisons are all-in on CFB

Late lunchtime notes

*Texas remains confident on 4-star++ athlete Michael Terry III (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights)

*Less turbulence with the recruitment of 4-star++ defensive line commit Myron Charles (Port Charlotte, Fla./High). Same with Josiah Sharma (Folsom, Calif./High). But we are also not going to put head in the sand.

*There is another prospect out there committed to another school that Texas is trying to make a late run at. Not trying to be a tease, but we aren't releasing the name yet - like this morning we didn't.

*One other Texas commit is being pursued by blue blood. Waiting to see if there are any true legs to a potential flip before putting a name out there for no reason.

*Texas feels like they are in it for Justus Terry (Manchester, Ga./High). No change from this AM.

They didn’t post a name so the notion from you is to just fucking float one randomly? Go DM with Ketchum about it.

Or you could go fuck yourself? Isn't the point of a fucking message board to randomly speculate at this shit anyway?

Also interesting note is Gerry put out that Terry was committing friday before Terry put that out.

I guess college football teams are the hot new billionaire playthings? Can't wait until someone tries to relocate the Miami Hurricanes to Las Vegas unless he gets a new stadium deal.

lol wut.

If we only get one solid DT in the portal, we will be screwed. We got good production from Lole and Norton this year as backups. Collins and Broughton took huge steps forward and are the stars of the IDL.  There's nobody on the roster ready to have anywhere near the year that Collins and Broughton had. You cited Mitchell who very well may not be on the roster next year. January looks ready to contribute, but who knows if he's ready to start. After that, it's bleak. If all we get is one guy like Lole plus what we have currently on the roster, then we will be in a terrible spot at DT.

This exact same thing was said at the start of this year "how will we ever replace sweat and Murphy" and of course the year before "we have no one good on the DL!"

To be fair, Collins was actually highly graded by PFF last year. He was more of a known commodity. Broughton was a pleasant surprise. There is also another big difference. Broughton and Collins are 5 year players. That played a lot of football. That is not the case for next year. Savea is the only one that fits the mold of an older player with a lot of snaps (assumes he is red shirting like OnTexas has said). Texas needs at least 2 DTs next year. Its much harder to bet on underclassmen to make big jumps on the LOS.

Gerry said he's expecting Savea to transfer.

Sark will have to go big in the portal. Top end and depth pieces both. Good thing that all we really need in the portal is that position, 1 to 2 WR, and some DB depth

Broughton and Collins at least showed some flashes last year, We have nothing after this year that is proven. January is our best IDL in 2025 that is on roster.

Well, it's a point, maybe, but not the point.

Regarding the Gerry note, is it news to you that recruiting guys talk to players and their camps directly?

The problem/difference next year is experience. Is there anyone who's had even close to the same amount of snaps as Sweat, Murphy, Broughton, Collins did?

The good news is their coach looks like he's their Rodney Terry. I don't think he could coach his way out of a paper bag, especially offensively. Could be wrong, but he had enough talent this year to be better than 7-5 or whatever they finished up at, but he was too dumb to go out and get a veteran QB. The portal is going to be what makes or breaks them next year. If they're starting their 10 million dollar guy as a true freshman they're gonna risk breaking him mentally. But you know a football no nothing like Ellison is going to demand he start from day 1 because it makes his paid for whore unhappy if he doesn't.

247 reporting Michigan is trying to jump back in with Littleton, which would match Gerry's note above. Imagine they're checking in on him with the Philips flip since they finished second.

I was so confused for the last few days over Gerry's comment about a lower ranked player potentially being in play. I had heard through the grapevine it was Littleton, who's obviously not lower-ranked.  Sounds like Mills and potentially Littleton were/are both in play.

As a side comment, I got bent out of shape about billionaire's coming in and changing the NIL game even more than they have to date. I understand that these billionaires have been part of this since the beginning, but I had heard in the last two weeks some unsettling things about the extent to which specifically Ellison might go. Through a pure coincidence, I used to work with his personal team on a business opportunity. I have been hearing that this "Ellison Wave" might be coming.  Buckle up.

I don't think I can remember a signing day where I was less anxious I didn't even realize it was tomorrow. I like everyone we've got and everyone we might get and whoever we don't well it won't break us. Its a great spot to be in where the team is winning and following recruiting is just gravy. I wonder if this is how Bama fans felt in the 2010's

Exactly. Also, it's fucking retarded to assume the team the guy is committed to doesn't know Texas is trying to get him. It's a negotiation. That dude and his representative are going back and forth getting $$$ offers. Just like we are doing with Charles, French, Hilson, Sharma, Fasusi, etc.

Anyone who you aren't hearing about right now already played that game before and made their decision, and doesn't care to try to renegotiate now.

There's no secret recruitment where a guy is getting a big offer then not going to the team he's committed to with the offer and asking to match or up the ante.

Even then Ryan Day couldn’t beat them.

I've been saying this for 5 years that it would and could and should happen. It's insanely hard and expensive to buy a professional sports team.  If you wanted to drop 20M a year you would basically be the sugar daddy of all sugar daddies as it relates to athletics at a university. Like- total and complete access- coach doesn't take a shit without letting you know about it first blah blah blah.  You could get like 95% of the perks of owning a sports team with like 50% of the hassle at like 1/100ths of the cost.  It's a logical decision for a guy whose net worth is 10 figures that's a big sports fan, and it's a no brainer for someone with an 11 or 12 figure net worth.

Larry Ellison could buy 3 NFL teams

What do you think a college or NFL team, in regards to perks, would buy for someone that they cannot already buy for 225 billion dollars? Power? Influence? Young Pussy?

Fun.

Also- 10 figures is 1B right?  Which was my point about Billionaires in general not Ellison in particular. But the same logic would apply to him worth a measly 1B or his actual 225B.

I’ll give you this: at least you’re consistent. This is a pretty poor take with regard to Moore. Look at the timeline of him getting the job and the transfer portal QBs and get back to me. It took not having a QB this season for Michigan to get onboard with NIL in recruiting. Previously, the only NIL they were giving out was to upperclassmen for the most part. It’s why their recruiting classes have been relatively lower ranked for the last several years. A developmental program that replaces its Top 6 offensive linemen and a first round QB is definitely going to see massive regression year over year. I think Moore will probably bring in a co-offensive coordinator to replace Campbell as play caller in the offseason. If you’ve never listened to him outside of the emotional Penn State soundbite, then you might think he’s dumb, but he’s a very bright guy.

Sure. If there are any for sale. And if the owners decide they want to let him into the club.  You have on average a sale of a team every what 3rd year?  And the commissioner basically hand picks who they want to be the buyer that buys the team, and that's based upon how well they think he will fit in, follow directions and not rock the boat.  So, other than that- sure- it's exactly the same.
