Crazy that the Cali lb that usc got never even visited.

Right, so much for program "relationships."  Or maybe the only relationships that matter are the uncle, mom, dad, brother, trainer and whoever else wants to get paid.

Do you see our large offer as Sark wanting to flex out in Georgia to recruits there moving forward?

Also I know you previously mentioned the Bama discount that was given last year with respect to Deboer....do you feel like their performance this year has hindered the ability of the "Bama discount"?

Gerry said today the Terry recruitment is over, which makes it sound like he's already signed and sent in the paperwork.

I'm not knocking it--just half assed reflecting how relationships and timing mattered for some, like Sims, and not so much for others, like Hilson.  However, I had forgotten Butler was on the team.  I remember thinking he was a good signee at the time.

Which means it's not Texas.

Gerry would be absolutely giddy if he knew it was Texas.

Huh? I’m not saying it’s us but Bobby was talking about maybe going to the ceremony at Manchester since he’s going to be in Atlanta for the CCG

It really does. I was wondering how the absolutely wild ass swings in writing ability occur haha. That’ll be fun to know going forward.

They'll be really slow, and possible incoherent, but also I'll probably end it with something like "and I hope you're having a magical day"

And there's also this: https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and-mood/two-types-of-drugs-you-may-want-to-avoid-for-the-sake-of-your-brain

Notable excepts:

It's why I absolutely refuse to prescribe benzos and any who come to me for care I de-prescribe. But Surly on!

Welp, guys, I've been prescribed these for 12 years, so...if I start having mood swings, you know my Alzheimer's has begun.

The reality of it sucks, but having severe social anxiety does, too.

I would trade my Xanax for MDMA any day of the week for actual happiness. Xanax and gummies do make me happy, but I really hate that having to go to work functions and even family gatherings I have to take them. They're fun when Texas is winning, but wears off when we lose. It's a coin toss.

And if you motherfuckers think I have a drug problem (problems are for people who seek help), how many alcoholics we got on here? Huh? Yeah. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Public notice: I do not go to random crack houses for drugs.

Maybe because he's going to be a short drive away already? I don't think we can read too much into it.

Are we happy with the lineman this class??

Overall class aside, recruiting gurus, are we in a good spot with linemen?

Saw some buzz on Twitter how these classes are quite watered down overall compared to the Alabama only era.

It’s not great, not terrible. Shame we lost Mills, but there’s some quality there. The room is pretty stacked and will be for a while, so it’s hard to get too worried about it.

DT recruiting is the real concern right now. A little light at CB as well.

It's an embarrassment of riches. The most stacked OL room in the country by a mile. I have watched Longhorn football for decades, and the second team would be starters probably back to the Casey Stoddard and Justin Blalock years. So, back to the 05' NC team. Have there been individuals during that time that would start? Probably. But the cohesiveness of the OL now is purely Kyle Flood, and Sark.

The team mentality is getting to be like the 05' team. My favorite story from that time was when Texas played Missouri in Columbia. I think it was Justin that turned around to Vince and said, "hey, they know the play." Vince calmly pulled out his mouthpiece, and said "so."

I'm really going to need the recruiting forum to learn that the apostrophe goes before the 2 digit shortened year numerals. It's an epidemic worse than tackling in the Mack Brown and Many Diaz era.

It is '05, it is not 05'.

How many uppercase letters do we use when typing edge?

DL looks good. Edge: A  DT: B-?

It’s a developmental OL class. Clearly they would have preferred to add Fasusi. I hated losing Mills but it’s not clear how hard the staff fought to keep him. We need to land some real motherfuckers next year.

I’m a lot less concerned than I was before we saw the Trevor Goosby-shaped monster than Flood has been cooking up in his lab.

Valid question imo. We have been bringing in 2 year projects vs. the big class of Banks, etc.  I'm concerned about OL and IDL.  We've got Goosby - who did a great job and Baker on RT next year.  Inside OL will be interesting - no Jake Majors for calls but I think we have that covered.  Depth, big concerns.

In the last 2 years, Baker is the only OL we've brought in that isn't a 2+ year project to get their bodies ready.  Our OT depth is an issue for next year.

DT - who knows.  Portal help again.  I'm not concerned about needing RB, CB, or WR in the portal.  We need a real OT and a few DT for rotation and depth.  I think a big OT from Oregon is in the portal.

Could be wrong, but our OT depth for next year is shit.  Same with DT.

Every OL class is a developmental class, very few freshmen are good enough to start on a team with a solid OL

Agree.  But the 2+ year projects concern me.  We had higher starting points prior.  OT especially worries me on our 2 deep.  DT - those young men need to develop fast.

I'm talking about 2024 and 2025 recruiting and what we have going forward.  We're going to lose a lot on OL this year and those men were great. Just hoping we can continue that.  I trust in Flood but am hoping we are giving him the raw starting points he needs.  IDL, well Baker has a job imo.  Skill areas - we are fine, we'll have plenty for Arch to work with. LB and CB/S should also be world class.

Who's projected to be 2 deep on OT? Hell, who's starting at IDL next year?

And yea just planning.  Live in ATL so let's destroy GA (sister, bro-in-law went there, want the brag rights again). We get that bye to plan and really nothing else looks too daunting after a bye to plan.

Goosby

Neto/Hutson

Hutson/Cruz

Campbell/Hutson

Baker

would be an experienced developed line next year

I think we'll be fine at OL next year, although I wouldn't mind taking a transfer OT just for some experience. It's the 24/25 classes that concern me, specifically at tackle. We've signed 2 true OTs (Baker/Brooks) the last 2 cycles. If Goosby is one and done, we're almost certainly hitting the portal. Not a dire situation (like DT), but we need to crush it in 26 like we did in 22. It's the single biggest reason why we're finally good again.

Whoever compared OL to Bama, here, twitter, whatever, is starfucking and little more.

In the last four classes, Texas signed 18 guys, Bama signed 15. Texas has lost one of those guys and Bama has lost at least two.

Three of the Texas signees are starters, each of whom will be drafted in the 2025 draft if they leave early, two going in the first round.

The Texas OL has largely been a wall and the rotators and backups who have played haven’t changed that.

Meanwhile, Bama’s OL has become a thin and disheveled sieve by Bama standards, even with a star mobile QB behind them.

Maybe Flood has something to do with it and maybe dummies that can’t even dive surface deep should try harder. Folks worried about OL rankings are worrying about the exact thing that recruiting analysts suck the worst at, by a wide margin. Cam Williams was ranked collectively as the 283rd player in the country coming out of HS. He was a 3 star for 247, while playing for a large, highly visible football factory of a HS power.

Can Williams, squeaking just barely into the top 100 players…in Texas.

what truly irritates me is there’s a sect of poster who looked at his measurables when he came out and was bonkers at his potential and acted like it was a home run (it was) and then poo poo the development.

Same people that yawned when we signed Mills at OL, but lost their shit when he flipped. It’s like no one remembers what serious OL development look like, which to be fair had been basically 30 years since it happened excluding the 05 class of self starters, but shit don’t take it for granted now motherfuckers.
