Regarding some instances this cycle and going forward - some groups are still presenting the big bag drop versus the legit NIL approach. They can’t afford a sustainable program on the levels of Texas or Ohio State, but they have some cash to throw around.

Sometimes it works.

Florida had pooled some money for Napier’s buyout. Kiffin punted, so they deployed the cash in another way. Worked against us in one spot and other schools too.

ATM is always looking for that angle because it is cheaper and can shortcut a recruitment.

USC put up some whoppers out of desperation.

It’s not a legitimate approach. Texas will lose some recruitments looking forward where this approach can work for short sighted people involved.

There are some very dirty HS coaches out there, btw.

Dumb question, but with above board payments now legal, will the NCAA actually grow some balls on the still illegal stuff you mentioned?  Or is it just business as usual in that area?

You'd think eventually the IRS might get interested now that there's a thriving taxable market for them to gain from.

I don’t think the NCAA is going to suddenly go after the bag game after being dickless regarding same when they actually had some power.

The SEC hasn't realized that inviting Texas into the SEC was just like the B1G getting Oregon. I haven't done any research, but did B1G teams dismiss Oregon since they were a PAC12 team like the SEC did Texas as a BIGXII team? I remember when an undefeated Auburn got left out of the Title Game for the USC buttfucking of OU in the early 2000s. These fuckers huff too much of their own farts. Texas will probably always be a fixture in the top 2-3 of the SEC, much like Oregon will be in the B1G.

The beauty of all this is the known bag droppers prior to NIL (aggy, LSU, Georgia, etc) are the most upset that Texas now has a legal way to buy players. These dipshits are just now figuring out that when Texas can buy players, within the rules, they can't hang.

Always is a big word considering we tend to be very boom or bust as a football program historically.

That was before we were legally allowed to walk into Georgia, money whip the best DT in the state, then drag our nuts across the southeast on our way home.

It's a new era. As long as we have avenues to money whip that others don't? We'll be right there fighting at season end

I truly believe that Sark will be here as long as he wants. Money will never be an issue. He is a top five coach. I hope he is our next DKR.

I was just looking at Oregon's recruiting class on 247...I didn't realize how Tom Herman it was...top 6 signees are wr/db, only 2 D-linemen, those 2 d-linemen are both edges...so no interior guys, only 2 LBs and only 8 defensive players overall.

I totally agree...but I was reading your always comment as beyond Sark.

My mistake if otherwise, ai am just opposed to the idea that NIL can cure all ills on the coaching side...

I meant the money to keep him here, and keep him stocked with his pick of coaching personnel. As guys move on and up on the career ladder. I trust that the Athletic Department will give him a blank check to go get who he wants.
Whatever changes might be coming down the pipe with or without NIL, he has shown he is brilliant and trustworthy.

Agreed that NIL isn’t a cure all for bad coaching, but a robust NIL program will be very attractive to the top candidates, so we don’t have to count on NIL making up for a shit coach.

They probably go portal shopping for anything they need.

I think we have the better team, but we managed to lose.

And yet Georgia has conclusively proven they're better than us in the trenches, by a big enough margin to negate our advantages elsewhere.

If Georgia was called for the same DPIs or offensive holdings that we were, we win the game. If we stop that fake punt, we probably win the game. If Bert hits just one of his missed FGs, we win the game. If Colin Simmons is able to return that fumble for a TD, or if Guilbeau blocks for Jahdae so he can get the pick six, we win the game.

Quinn missed some throws and Georgia missed a couple of picks too. The football gods (along with the refs) were on Georgia's side last night.

Credit to them for gutting out the win though.

They are who we thought they were, but we let them off the hook.

Do you believe they would win every game against us? I don't. Our defense did well for having a line "conclusively proven" to be inferior. You hold a team to 16 points, you should win.

Their D line is outstanding. Why does that supercede the vulnerability of their secondary versus our receivers?

I know you're famed for being negative, and I don't mind that. I never suspect spittle is on your monitor. Here you make a broad declaration based on narrow evidence.

The evidence is that Georgia is the superior team. They won twice, what else do they have to do to prove it? (They may actually have to do it three times which is weird as fuck to me.) In some ways, their superiority may be found in intangibles. They rally well. They responded brilliantly to the adversity of losing their QB (who kinda sucks anyway). Coaching-wise, they improvised an offense in the second half that managed to score.

If we execute better, we win that game. But we didn't. I expect improvement in execution every year Sark is coach because that has been the trend.

Georgia has weaknesses, maybe more than us. But we're not built to exploit them.

The best way to negate a vaunted DL is with a mobile QB. We don't have that with Ewers. UGA's gameplan is to shut down the run game coming downhill (and the screen game, which is an extension of our run game). They are fine with conceding the intermediate throws (slants, comeback routes, lofted throws to open space) that are part of Quinn's limited skillset outside the 20s. Once we get into the redzone and those throws go away, we have nothing.

And that isn't an exaggeration. There is nothing in our offense’s toolbox now that works against Georgia in the redzone. We used to roll Quinn out in the redzone to hit corner routes. Quinn can no longer do that with his ankle injury. We can't run inside or outside the tackles. Scoring in the redzone requires Quinn to zip much tougher throws that he currently cannot make.
