So basically the agents are telling kids if Texas really wanted you they’ll match the offer of other schools. Pretty disingenuous but I think Texas will be fine in the long run

No somewhere the thing.   There’s a certain group of schools including us that can pay whatever.  If the next five star qb costs 4 mil we are one of ten schools that can pay it. Question is, do we want to?   Nil has no salary cap but there’s a reason why the nfl does

Did a quick search trying to determine where Texas was ranked at this time last year, the 2024 class. Came up with this article from Hook'em Headlines.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Article published July 2, 2023, By Andrew Miller. Ok. St. Alum.

"The biggest single day on the recruiting trail for Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian in the 2024 class thus far occurred on July 1. Texas landed three blue-chip commitments in the span of a few hours on July 1."

"Texas finished a big day on the recruiting trail on July 1 with 11 commitments in the 2024 class. This comes less than one month after Texas had less than half this number of pledges in the 2024 class."

Where Texas’ 2024 class ranks according to the major recruiting services

Here is where Texas stands in the 2024 class according to the major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals, and On3).

  • 247Sports Composite: 29th nationally, 1st in Big 12
  • Rivals: 29th nationally, 1st in Big 12
  • On3: 16th nationally, 1st in Big 12
  • ESPN: TBD (not updated since June 22)

What a bunch of Sky is falling Twits.

A lot of people have no idea how recruiting rankings work.  It’s not adding the same points player per player.  So teams way behind can make up ground very fast.

For example: If Ohio State added Kahlil locket they would get 5 points right now...
If Texas added him it would be 25.

And yes I had no idea before either.  Play with the class configurator.  Very good odds you end up top 6-7 if not top 5.

We may even revisit those recruitments. Who knows how things will evolve over the next 5 months.  Effort and money will be reprioritized somewhere.
Uncle Phil is all in this year, Oregon commits are pretty much off the table if it's a money thing.

I’m sure our class will be great. We will get over

Haywood, Rogers, Fodje, Brooks, Newman

Moore, Wilson

Armstrong, Edwards

Russell

Davison, Turner

Autry, Hilson, Davis, Charles, Jones

Matai, Pettijohn

Brew, Sanchez, Anding, Williams, Lee

I somewhat get the point you are trying to make but you just listed 24 guys.

At some point the number of guys brought in for OV's is going to far exceed the number of spots in the class.

Several of those guys you mentioned Texas barely even seriously recruited the last 6 months. I had to look up who Jonte Newman was and Michael Turner didn't even have a Texas offer.

It remains to be seen if Oregon fares any better than Aggy did with a class of mercenaries! They have one already experienced in fouling a locker room!

Everyone is a mercenary for the right price.

Lol no. Now using the Texas brand to drive up their NIL offer? Absofuckinglutely. And that's how you know we're big players, despite what those of whom keep shitting on it (while not participating in it) have to say.

It’s kinda funny to get worked the fuck up about some players that probably won’t see a college field until 2026 or beyond.

By that point Sark will be coaching at Manchester United, Elko will be at Cy Fair, Venables will be at Arlington Renegades, and Texas will be coached by WatsonX.

The conversation leading up to Moores commitment was could texas land three 5 stars. And what would that do with Kelshaun Johnson.

Well. Dosent look like we need to worry about the three 5 stars anymore. And now locket(?) May stop waffling.  And Johnson now has a clearer path to Texas.

Yeah, it sucks we missed on the number 1 wr in the nation.

But it also clears up the rest of our wr  recruiting focus.

Frankly. I'm not gonna cry about Missing on Moore when we could end up with 2 other 5 stars and Johnson.

Yeah. Moore highlights will suck. But as an overall transaction. We were likely to lose Locket and Johnson if we took Moore. Maybe that's a bad trade off. But maybe it's not.

Always take the best available and worry about the rest later
