Dude is a 1 year hire. Miami sinks back into oblivion after this year.

Yep, Cristobal has never shown the ability to develop his own QB.

He had Herbert already at Oregon and took Anthony Brown from Boston College as a transfer. At Miami Van Dyke was already there and Ward arrived via the portal.

Our LBs were awesome against CSU. Just fucking up RBs over and over

As it pertains to DT and FSU:

On the FSU 247 board, there is consensus building around the notion of an assistant coach firing squad. They've been complaining about the lack of recruiting skills on the staff since Norvell arrived and now some of the insiders are offering freely two things:

1) They don't have anything coming within sight of firing Norvell, handling the buyout of the incoming staff and handling the new salaries plus future NIL. Total expected cost of such would be between $80-$100M depending upon who they hired. Please note that we all should already know that Norvell's buyout alone after this season is roughly $70M and don't need it stated or erroneously offered as some correction to the numbers I just posted. Also, yes, they're openly talking about firing a dude who went 13-1 last season, en masse.

2) The money thinks it would be a lot easier to fire most of the assistants and force Norvell to upgrade from all of his apparent buddies, and amp up NIL to compete with ... Miami.

Amidst all of that, they're hoping to hang onto Odell Haggins, who has been there 31 years and is believed to be one of their better recruiters. He is, however, rumored to be retiring in the near future. https://seminoles.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/odell-haggins/733

What does that all mean for Wynn and Charles? Not sure, but none of it is hurting the notion of Texas winding up with one or both if things continue to go sideways for FSU.

In regard to things going sideways for FSU? They've had weak recruiting classes up until last year and a number of busts are materializing from those groups and this cycle's portal haul. Culture is allegedly nonexistent and the notion that JDU is some sort of leader in the locker room is laughable. Beyond that, from here on the schedule, FSU Goes:

-bye, -Memphis, -Cal, @SMU, - Clemson, -bye

They're staring down the barrel of 2-4/1-5/0-6. There's no one behind Ugalaileleielei, so they're kind of fucked there. They have the Glenn guy, not even from the mailroom, and he's like 18 and sucked mightily last season and hasn't progressed a ton according to those who would know. The media calls the guy a "QB whisperer" and yet, outside of Travis, the FSU era for Norvell is littered with busts and the idea that he could make chicken salad out of chicken shit with DJU is comical. The esteemed OL is also wrecked, gaining 21 whole rushing yards last night, and the DL, the vaunted greatest DL across all of the land, is allowing over 220 ypg.

I said before the year that FSU was a lazy top 10 pick and would wind up something like 8-4 due to their schedule, DJU, and general talent deficiencies. Now I'm thinking that 8-4 looks really aspirational. Sarkisian's been a bit blessed at Texas in that the right things have gone UT's way at key moments in recruiting. It could be very fortuitous that Texas was on guys that FSU coveted at DT in this cycle.

There's very obviously no shot that Norvell is fired this season after getting the "please don't leave us for Bama" extension. But there's gonna be a lot of hilarious conversations on talk radio shows if Colorado beats Nebraska this weekend that Skip Bayless has already teed up.

It does feel like some of their assistants may be on the chopping block soon though with the #1 loser being Randy Shannon, yes that Randy Shannon.

I don't think there's any way Colorado beats Nebraska. Raiola looked good for a true Freshman in his first start. Neyor is legit. Rhule is a much better coach than Sanders. Nebraska looks much improved over last year. Colorado looks absolutely the same. It's all Sanders and Hunter and a bunch of scrubs.

DJU is playing at about the level he has for most of his career. Hasn't ever been a game-changer.

FSU missing a bowl feels like it's a 50/50 chance right now. Miami and ND appear as likely losses.

DJU has to be one of the biggest busts at QB we've seen in the last 15 years, maybe longer. It's not just that he sucks, but he was so highly ranked and thanks to the portal has had multiple chances to suck out loud starting at different schools for what feels like 7 years. I don't think we've ever seen a guy suck this hard, for this long, since the days of eCheese cupping balls and gobbling crank daily on hornfans.

You're better off with one completely flaming out like Malachi Nelson than hanging around to screw up offenses for 5 years.

Kind of like drafting Jamarcus Russell #1 overall is better than David Carr #1 because you move on a lot faster.

No way. As drebin said, those guys all never won starting jobs at multiple schools, and simply moved around or were moved aside as players. DJU has started FIFTY motherfucking football games at QB. 5. 0. And he's sucked donkey dick in pretty much every single one, and he gets trotted out there again and again, at 3 different p5 schools (at least when he was there, RIP Oregon St.). Do know how hard it is to suck that fucking hard starting 50 games at QB in college? It might be completely fucking unprecedented.

Imagine Connor Weigman not being made of balsa wood and starting 50 fucking games at qb. You can't, becuase you'll fucking die of laughter. That's what we're dealing with here.

You're comparing DJU to a guy who improved every year he played at LSU, and was drafted #1 overall? Do you think DJU s going to be drafted in the first round? Do you think DJU is going to get DRAFTED? We're not talking about the NFL here, man. Busts litter that place at every position.

Grant Gunnell transferred to Sam Houston State and is currently the third string QB there.

Yeah, but we see that stuff. Tate Martell is another example there another poster mentioend. An overhyped bag of suck-all who transfers out and justifiably disappears. What makes DJU amazing is he never fucking disappears. He keeps getting to start entire fucking seasons while suck-starting multiple lawnmowers that roll over his own teams.

Jonathan Smith is a damn good football coach and could only coax out a 57% completion rate on less than 20 attempts a game. DJU’s a middling QB that has zero business starting at an upper end power conference school.

But at least DJU is sucking on a big stage. Grant Gunnell is sucking at Sam Houston State.

DJU to aggy? He’s now started meaningful games for schools with nattys. Ipso facto, checkmate…bitches.

JT Daniels is the closest I can come up with as far as the combination of recruiting pedigree and an incredibly elongated career underwhelming fans from coast to coast at multiple universities. I still think DJU takes the cake because of his ability to lock down starting jobs at schools with no better options and destroy offenses from within despite obvious physical gifts. It’s truly incredible.

This is the most amazing part: he had every opportunity to succeed, ostensibly gave it his best effort, and still busted purely through his own merits.  At least some busts can point to off the field shenanigans, not taking the game seriously enough, or coaching turmoil.  None of that applies here, dude just sucks and wasted the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on him by Clemson/FSU.

You couldn’t ask for a better situation to develop, either.  Clemson had developed two first round QBs in row (Watson & Lawrence) and was as stable and talented an environment as anywhere in CFB.  He couldn’t hack it there, and then was fortunate enough to land at a phenomenal situation at OSU. Even with all of that, he stayed a below-average college QB.

There’s no “what if” for DJU.  If you randomly played out his career 10 times, this is probably the best version of himself.

Wrong...Grant Gunnell is not on any stage. He is sitting off to the side of the stage singing along to the musical....hoping that both the star and his back up somehow both end up unable to perform.

As Sydney stated, DJU is the star of the show and has been for what seems like 20 fucking years and he just goes out there and bombs every performance without consequence.

He also manages to look as though it didn't even bother him, which is quite an indictment if true.

I think the best thing about the Tate Martell experience was that Nick Starkel had a decent run for San Jose State somthing that Martell never had anywhere.

Its like mediocre is not a word that exists in people's vocabulary, DJU is just that mediocre, multiple coaches have seen him in practice have seen his game tape and they all have put him as a starter, not because he is exceptional but because he is better than the backup, that is it. There is no prize for finding and playing a Patrick Mahomes, see all the good it did to Tech (on the field). Winning is the goal, not to scout for the unicorn QB, that is the NFL's job.

Before the injury there was potential with wiggy, granted after the spring game all that potential evaporated, maybe it is the yips, maybe its purely psychological and does not want to get injured again, but yeah what happened against ND is historically bad, he keeps playing like that he is getting benched soon, regardless of how bad the backup is, which makes him a bigger bust than DJU.

DJU isn't mediocre, though. One could argue he was mediocre at OSU, but he's been outright game-losingly bad at Clemson and FSU. Coaches keep playing him because he's such a good athlete and they think they can fix him.

Dude I saw Warlock drop like 5 passes that landed in his hand, something is really wrong at FSU. Maybe they all hate him and his helicopter dad and that is also the job of the QB to be a leader, but FSU is overall is not top 25 , but that is what happens when you use the Elko portal recruiting strategy.

Yeah there were a lot of balls that glanced off the hands that I saw as well.  FSU is broken.

Yeah FSU’s entire performance could’ve been described by any number of quotes from John McKay. I think I’ll go with, "We didn't tackle well today but we made up for it by not blocking". I would tack on: didn’t throw well but made up for it by not catching the ball.

Not only is this not correct regarding DJU, it’s not correct in regard to how CFB coaches evaluate and recruit. They’re all looking for a world beater. That got the guy recruited to Clemson. Then other coaches look at him and say “I can fix him”. None of them are looking at QBs to recruit who are just above replacement value. Good lord.

Again very naive, they were looking for Cam Ward and had to settle for him, because he was better than their backup.

That is it.

People ascribing this mythical arrogance from coaches "I can fix him! I am the QB whisperer" is kinda laughable.
