Good sign from the LSU side when they are already using the Texas NIL excuse for PhillipsScreenshot(68).thumb.png.72d80fb25825f4a89c102251f6796e3a.png

Reminder that over the summer when Phillips originally committed to Texas he said LSU was offering more NIL so he is now talking out of both sides of his mouth.

This gives me toilet smurf vibes.

Actually, he's talking about just throwing ridiculous money at DL recruits.

This thread has been a pleasant catch up.

Lol I wonder what a game thread would be like in a board as sane as this one.

And I wonder what it would be like to have water fountains that dispense chocolate and thunderstorms that shower money.

A&M doing absolutely anything for big DL/edge recruits is pretty much the defining hallmark of the Jimbo/Elko recruiting era

They also convince themselves that they are winning the national championship every year and they make such a big deal out of it that some dummies believe them. Some on this board are already soiling their panties over it.

Then the roller coaster flies back down the hill. Again. Every year.

“Longhorns are throwing a lot more NIL his way, and it happened (timing-wise) right after we named him a five star.”

Now I’m waiting on all their subscribers to turn on them every time they name an LSU commit a five star

You realize that these are real things, and they are particularly popular with fatties and poors, right?

With Tom Herman currently unemployed, who are the biggest asshole HCs in CFB? I’m not talking about doichebags like Riley. I mean real assholes.

Brian Kelly seems like easily the biggest one. He’s killed a guy, he’s permanently condescending, he screams constantly at everyone on the sidelines. How could anyone look forward to playing for that dickhead? He’s really easy to dislike and root against.

Seriously I get here 4 hours late to this convo and nobody has said Hugh Freeze? It's Hugh fucking Freeze as the #1 asshole in the country. Outside of all the heinous shit he's done, he's constantly deflecting blame and throwing his players under the bus after every game. I would love to know what his guys are getting paid to not want to leave his ass mid-season.

Deion is up there as well

I wouldn’t mind seeing Florida turn their season around and also get Ffrench. We don’t compete with them for recruits so them being good doesn’t hurt us, but it would hurt Georgia/Bama/Tennessee. Enemy of my enemy is my friend situation.

1. WTF? You want an explosive, play-making talent to decommit from Texas and go to a conference foe?

2. We are literally competing with them for recruits this cycle - both current commits they want to flip, as well as uncommitted.

3. I give up. This has to be a schtik at this point.

It has to be a bit, and a very unfunny one at that. No one can be that stupid.

I must’ve missed all those tight head-to-head recruiting battles with the gators over the years.

Seriously, I don’t think that’s happened one time. Florida is a solid tier below the current recruiting alphas (UGA, Bama, tOSU, ORE, us). If we want a top player from Florida we will not be competing with UF for him. But yeah if they can become more competitive that’s a direct thorn to the other SEC powers.

We lost Princely Umanmielen to them back in 2020.

Gerry on what it would take to land the #1 class, posted below. It appears that Justus Terry is a potential swing candidate for winning the title of #1. Georgia's almost certainly landing him unless Auburn goes fucking nuts, which they might. Texas has never done an NIL deal for a true freshmen in the 7 figures range. Terry is allegedly going to get around that and Auburn is rumored to be offering something absurd. Auburn and Hugh Freeze are an easy combo to despise.

I don't recall whether this has been discussed here before but apparently some coaches at some schools have been chattering to Ross Dellenger about being able to double their school's direct payments to athletes as part of the House/NIL settlement this year, as soon as it's finalized, due to a budgeting anomaly created by it being the first year of schools paying athletes directly.

He is currently balling out for Ole Miss iirc.  Big part of their DL rotation.

Yeah, we really don't want UF rolling.  That would not bode well for our National recruiting net right now.  Back in the Mack Brown days, maybe, but we recruit all states now and losing a 5* to a conference foe is not ideal.  We are deeply entrenched in the state of FL for recruiting, espeically this cycle.

He's playing like it's a contract year (which it is). Finally stopped taking every other play off.

I think it’s more likely he just doesn’t realize that Ffrench is currently committed to Texas.

Over 12,000 posts and 25% of them are pure shit.  The other 75% were probably made in the CR.

Well that could be.  He may have worded that post very poorly.  UF turning it around would include a W over Ole Miss which helps us.  We hold on to Ffrench despite the Gators winning.

I was trying to say with our deep receiving core and recruiting class, it wouldn’t hurt losing Ffrench, and if we were to lose him I’d rather it be Florida. They will never challenge for an SEC title while Napier is there. They’re no threat and they’re my 2nd favorite program so I’d like to see them do better. And yes, every UT fan should be pulling for them to upset Ole Miss this weekend. With the reaction I got you’d have thought I was saying that I hope OU or A&M out-recruits us. People need to get a grip.  I’ll see myself out.

You're letting your love of UF cloud your vision. Most everyone else thinks of them as an garish, occasionally thuggish (hi Urban!) nouveau riche program in a mediocre town that stopped being fun or interesting the moment they didn't have a generational coach at the helm. I would not like them to have one of our most fun recruits.

I'm with you. I hope all of our recruits flip to other schools. Then we won't ever have to worry about the numbers.
