Justus Terry Announcement Thread

Manchester (Ga.) High 5-star defensive lineman Justus Terry will announce his decision at 12 pm eastern today.

Terry, 6-5, 275-pounds, is down to four schools. The four are home-state Georgia, Auburn, Texas and Alabama. As of Wednesday, the Crimson Tide were not expecting it to be them.

That leaves Georgia, Auburn and Texas. One parent is okay with a farther from home decision (Texas), and one parent likes the close driving distance options.

Georgia has been considered the favorite, but Texas does believe they are in the fight. Auburn the same.

NIL is a major factor here. But the highest NIL bid doesn't necessarily mean you will be the winner. It does make one very competitive.

The final class rankings will be decided by Terry's decision ...

Georgia wins out, the Dawgs would be the No. 1 ranked class. Likely the consensus No. 1.

Texas wins out, and the Longhorns would likely be the consensus No. 1 class.

Auburn wins out, and the Tigers would bump up to No. 4 or 5. But if Auburn won out, Texas would likely finish No. 1 in the class rankings - in at least two services. And OnTexasFootball believes Texas would end with the No. 1 ranked class in that scenario too.

**************************

Terry himself, has not spoken with Texas in 72 hours.

But that was expected.

All schools had final conversations with Terry and family, and best and final NIL's were made to start the week.

Now it comes down to where he will play college ball.

Manchester (couple hours south of me) is maybe a 90-minute drive from Auburn and just under 3 hours from Athens. While I hope that's not working against us too much in the family's eyes, we all know it can be the deciding factor. Would love to get a Dakorien-type choice that works in our favor, but I've heard nothing that would suggest the kid wants to get away. Shock me, Justus.

Can Williams, squeaking just barely into the top 100 players…in Texas.

what truly irritates me is there’s a sect of poster who looked at his measurables when he came out and was bonkers at his potential and acted like it was a home run (it was) and then poo poo the development.

Same people that yawned when we signed Mills at OL, but lost their shit when he flipped. It’s like no one remembers what serious OL development look like, which to be fair had been basically 30 years since it happened excluding the 05 class of self starters, but shit don’t take it for granted now motherfuckers.

so one of the dumb things that Ketch started up on twitter yesterday is that trolls have now started to tweet out more and more how Banks was a can't miss guy and how he hasn't really developed much under Flood..

The guy’s a first round pick. Anyone whining about how he’s come along should be dismissed or mocked. There’s no case to be had in negging anything about the player or coach. Only insecure dipshits worry about that kind of shit.

May they all not develop like Kelvin Banks

To shut down this stupidity, I’d ask morons who’d they’d rather have coaching OL. After 13 miserable fucking years at Texas on OL, honestly more like 18 in regards to the OL, who else would they want coaching the OL after 4 years of flood’s returns? They might come up with some legit names, but there aren’t many in that class.

Oh yeah? I’ve never seen Kyle Flood painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel!

The state of Georgia is just pumping out defensive lineman at an unreal rate.  That’s what will keep their program good for a long time.

I think Texas being a spread state has limited our interior DL prospects growth and size.

So are we done with the 2025 class after today, or are there any other recruits that are going to NSD2?

Let's see who is available after any 2025 recruits want to back out after the inevitable coaching carousel.

When the O-line is good enough to finish out games by running the ball down the throats of defenses that know we're going to run the ball (see, e.g., the A&M game, the Arkansas game, Bama in '23, etc.) -- something we never saw in prior years -- then I'd say the O-line coach is pretty good.

Or once they get to campus and the NIL deal they were promised never realizes.

I heard from a Georgia booster i know that Auburn came in today with an “absurd” offer for Justus Terry. No idea if it goes anywhere or if we bow out

I mean, more absurd than the “Texas offered Terry $10MM” that was going around on FB?

One way or another, get him or don't get him, we've made them fucking pony up for an instate guy. This could impact them in a number of ways if they choose to play ball. It could eat into their recruiting budget. But more importantly, it could impact their ability to retain talent. Big dick energy here.

Live here

Can anyone recall a livestream by a team-specific site (e.g., "DawgNation") that didn't end with the recruit in question committing to that team?

Brooks Austin is pretty great. It would be incredible to have a guy like that on our beat.
