Any gun safe deals out there?  2 rifles 2 shotguns 5 handguns?

So sounds like a 48 gun safe is in your near future.   I know not technically a safe but a heavy ass box that locks; I’ve had good luck buying them on sale at tractor supply.  I need to pick up another this year.

Mine came from Tractor Supply, my parents got it for me one Christmas. I have a garage closet that is on the HVAC, it fit perfect. If a safe says it is a 24 gun safe, it is really about a 10 gun safe. It might hold 24 Daisy Red Riders. But bolt actions with scopes take up a lot of room, and those corners where rifle butts are perpendicular are basically useless.

Tractor supply has them on sale right now. That’s where I got mine. If you wanted to get their credit card, I think it’s no interest for a year on purchases over a certain amount and maybe $100 or so off the first big purchase.

I’d like to buy a cheap optic for my Ruger PC Carbine. Which would be better, the Bushnell TRS 25 Red Dot, or the RXS-100 Reflex? I really don’t know what the differences are between the two types.

Those are both fine but if you are willing to spend slightly more you can get a Holosun or Sig Romeo 5 that have shake awake technology so you don’t have to mess with turning it on when the time comes to use it.

And it still won’t be big enough.

Yeah I got the Romeo5 for my AR pistol and really like it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C95I8N4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_JGKSEF94SDRH842SKSMJ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

No CR, but I hope everyone is stocking up big time.

Is there some reason we should?  Your wife and mom having a dick-sucking contest and we should try to fend them off at the tooth?

I'm about to get my third one. I like to go to the actual safe and lock store because they'll deliver and install for free and I think the quality of the build is slightly better.

The new house we are building has a 10x10 steel plated vault room with a safe door and I'm sure I'm still going to fill it up within 2-3 years and need to put the overflow back into the safes.

I'm complaining so much...

Well damnit I’m still poor, but I don’t want to ever move another.  Might have to shell out for help next time.    Super jelly of your safe room.  One of these days maybe.

Elephant ivory also, according to the OP.

I have seen a couple of antique Winchester presentation rifles with ivory stocks, but never carved like this modern one.

Your brace of SAA are beautiful. I have never fired mine (made in 1979).... just haven’t gotten around to it since trading my brother out of it. He bought it new in 1980 and just put it in his safe with another one.

hey gun people - what's the surly and loaded consensus on a good and reasonable gun safe? It's possible that I'll end up with some more guns at some point hopefully far down the road when my dad is gone, but really this would just be to contain a Remington 870. Not super worried about being able to wake up startled and start peppering things within 30 seconds, just something I can lock the gun up in that a kid won't be able to get into.

Friend of mine had one of these as a smaller, in closet safe to complement his others.  Seemed pretty solid for the price.  You CAN remove the door, which makes it ALOT easier to move if you don't have a couple of strong back, weak minded friends.   As usual, unless you are stacking nothing but shotguns in there, it's going to hold less than half of what they advertise.  I'm quickly approaching capacity on my 48, and it doesn't have close to that many long arms in it.    Note - these go on big time sale during black Friday.

My right wing coworker (no CR) was freaking out because they described the Boulder shooter's weapon as an AR type pistol. "There's no such thing as an AR pistol!!!"

Even after I showed him a picture on the Ruger website labeled "AR-556 Pistol" his reply was "that's some Obama bullshit sight, there's no such thing as an AR pistol." smdh

You can't fix stupid.

Half these partisan gun worshippers don't have any guns except a DJT/Flag/punisher/ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ commemorative AR-15 with like 6 bipods and 3 lasers they use to pose with naked in the mirror but don't ever fire.

Going to get my soon to be 8 yr old a shotgun for his birthday.  I'd rather get him a 20 ga just thinking long term but he's a little guy and is really really wanting a .410 so we'll probably go with that (and I do think a .410 can be a fun gun to hold on to).  He's also really wanting a side by side and I see that there's a .410 side by side Yildiz at Academy.  Any thoughts on this brand?  The reviews seem pretty good but there aren't a ton of them out there.  Any thoughts on / experience with Yildiz?

I have a yildiz sxs 12. Beautiful gun. Don't know what it is but I don't shoot well with it. Don't want to get rid of it though because I love the walnut grain on it.

The woodwork on those is really very pretty. For shooting, I'm getting one of these:

Whatever the rating is for capacity, half it in real time.  Meaning a 48 gun safe will actually only hold 20+.  After that, I'd get something affordable.  If you are in a fairly metropolitan area, fire response times will be under 30 minutes, so most fire-rated safes are fine.  Don't overthink it.

Yes and no.  Before the advent of the SB Tactical stabilizing brace, they were "true" pistols.  Pistol grip only and whatever barrel shroud space you can get your hands around.  These braces get a lot of flack on both sides of the isle.  You can easily shoulder a brace, turning your "pistol" into effectively an SBR.  You can also shoulder a gas pistol tube, but not as effectively.

The moniker of "pistol" allows the manufacturer to avoid the need for a federal permit.  The length of the brace can't exceed a foot (I think) to remain designated as a "brace" and not a "stock".

The brace of course also allows the shooting of the "pistol" with one hard (as it was originally designed to do).

So legally, it's a pistol in the eyes of the law, but nothing close to a pistol when being actually utilized.  Clear as mud?

Mine is a Winchester I bought at Costco for around $600 10+ years ago.  It works fine.  Not sure how many long guns it is rated for, but it is a tight fit since I have a lot of long guns and most have glass.  I am about to buy another and put it in my garage, which is climate controlled.

My overflow is in two of these rifle lockers (found pic on web), which you attach to your studs with lag bolts.  It's pretty damn secure because you can't reach the lag bolts while it is locked.  I keep my less sentimental/valuable pieces in it.  Someone would need to pack a lunch and have the right tools to walk off with those guns.

I think I paid around $75 each for this rifle locker on Sportsman's guide.  Pretty good option if you don't have the cash or the space for a safe.  Definitely just as kid proof as a safe.

I really need a safe. Not so much to protect the guns but because I would be devastated if one of mine were stolen and used in a crime.

Yep.  Nobody is stopping you from leaving your car and house unlocked, but you're an idiot if you do.  Same with your other items.  Firearms are the SINGLE most sought after item with break in's.

I may still order one of those, but hate to pay the 50% inflated price.

Cutoff wheel and my 20v Dewalt grinder says I can get into one of those in less than a minute, but the would keep a gun out the hands of kids messing around.

Sure.  Most thieves though use their foot to kick in the door and don't have tools.  They want to get in and out.

Nobody in history has ever gone out and used a pistol brace "as they were designed", unless they were posting a video on youtube.  They are an SBR loophole. Ban the damn braces if you want.  I already have my SBRs.
