Nope……
My brother donated it to the Camp Mabry Military Museum in Austin about 25 years ago.
We checked on it about 10 years ago and their computer records said it was still stored in their vault. As far as we know it has never been put on display in any of the exhibits.

Shame… assume that’s not what you all intended when making the donation?

We had no idea if they would display it or not - it had no history with the Texas 36th Division.
But neither of us really wanted to keep it.

Was it full auto or had it been de-miled?

Full auto when dad brought it home, but Grandpa used some brass to plug the breech which made it a legal DEWAT (Deactivated War Trophy).
We had an “approval” letter from the FBI stating such.

Was that required by law, or would you have had to get a Class III to keep it full auto?

I don’t know, as I was only 1 year old when he brought it home from France.

I believe you can take a deactivated war trophy that has been registered with the NFA and convert it back to a functional firearm by paying the $200 tax. The cost to register it back in the day as a deactivated trophy was free. That thing would be worth big bucks today even in its deactivated status.

I ordered a HK 416 .22lr pistol over the weekend.  I wanted something to plink with at a lower ammo cost.   I also found a Crimson Trace red dot for a ridiculous price (regular price is $350ish, got it for $110 with tax and shipping).   I'm going to throw a buffer tube/brace on it to add some length.   I'd love to put a folding brace on it but the quality ones are expensive.   Thoughts on running an 8.5" 22lr with a suppressor?

If this is turns out like I hope, I'll probably SBR my 12.5 CMMG Mk4 5.56 and get rid of the brace on that.

Everyone should also know that the 1911 market is bad right now and going to get worse - if you want one look for sales.

DS1911 will eat up their space.

How bad?  Like prices up double digits (10-15%) or 50% bad?

Probably talked to one of their counter guys and couldn't take it any longer.

If you want to get talked down to by someone that doesn't know what they are talking about for an already overpriced item, McBrides is your jam.....

Because of the flood of competition from Turkey?

That’s some of it but other things:
Low capacity
Mainly 45
Tons of supply even domestic
Older people (fans) getting dead

If you wanted a 9mm 1911 just get a 2011.

I think it's the surging popularity and efficacy of the 9mm.  Modern rounds check all the boxes that the larger .45 acp used to fill.  Penetration/expansion/kinetic energy similarities, with twice the capacity and half the recoil?

Yeah. The 9mm cartridge has benefitted most probably from tech advancement in the handgun space.

We’re dropping the first fully ambi 2011 into the market in 60 days - impossible on a traditional 1911 platform.
