We had a fun day target shooting this weekend in Abilene. It made for a nice afternoon away from the women with my older son and my brother.

More guns not pictured.

We will be redoing this shoot-em-up this weekend in Abilene this weekend.  Last year it was my me, my brother, and my 14yo son.  This year we are adding my 11yo son (12 in January).

He has played paintball and airsoft, so he knows how to shoot.  He hasn't ever shot a real gun before.  My brother and I will be all over him about safety and teach him everything.

HOWEVER,  I was thinking there might be a Youtube video that I could watch with him that would be a good introduction to safety.

Can anyone recommend a good safety training video for a first time shooter?  Thanks y'all!

Practice dry-fire exercises for a while with supervision.  Guessing .22lr pistol?  Semi or revolver?  Get him intimately learned on how it operates.  Loading.  Unloading.  Checking to see if it's loaded.  How to chamber a round if semi, lock his arms out, take aim, they "click".  Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Good idea. I don’t have a 22 pistol for him. Smallest is 9mm. My older son is bringing his 22 rifle. I’ll see if my brother has a 22 pistol.

If not, here is a good Christmas present for your youngest, my son's first gun:

That is even the same price that I paid for CHIEF Jr.'s twenty years ago. It has had about a million subsonic rounds through it. Pretty quite, and great for plinking.
