Yep, there is a lot of demand for manufacturers like Ruger to make their pistol caliber carbines in 10mm in addition to the usual 9mm offering.

For sure - The next wave of carbines in 10mm will be exciting.  Several mfgs are getting them tuned up right now for AR platforms (not as easy as the 9mm or .40 due to pressures)...some out already  (CMMG Banshee) and some should hit at the next shot show.

Ruger will sell a ton of the PC carbine in 10mm when they drop it.  That cartridge performs so well in the longer barrel.

Nice-  cant go wrong there.

Everybody is getting back in the 10mm game.

One of the most unheralded and best values is the CZ75 clone .... EAA Tangfolio.
Super accurate and versatile models.  Highly recommend!!  Witness Hunter model is my next 10 buy.

Love CZ75s, to me they’re very easy to handle and point. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a tangfoglio to fondle at the gun shops.

New glock dayae9900ba077712279d4c9322fd488711.jpg

Time for a single stack. I Went to the shop with the intent on buying a 19x. I didn’t like it.

I hadn’t considered a single stack since I have a single stack bersa bp9cc and sig 938.

I told myself it was for my wife and she hasn’t been to the range since 2010.

So anyway. I have a new gun.

I got my G 48 a few weeks ago. I love it. I was going in wanting the 43 X but ended up going with the longer 48 bc it just felt better and more controllable. Anyway, first Glock purchase and I really like it

I assumed it was a joke but I am not experienced enough to know what the deal with .380 is.

It’s a bit of a red headed step child cartridge when it comes to self/home defense.  Ballistics testing gives that theory merit when compared with the 9mm and others but that’s in comparison only.  It’s not inherently a “bad” round.

If it’s what one has and more importantly what one shoots well and with confidence, then it can be an effective round (especially with some of the more modern bullet designs).

No one wants to be shot with it.  It’ll ruin your day for sure.

Nothing “wrong” with it but there are better options if all other things are equal.

There've been plenty of dead husbands laying at the feet of angry wives who were armed with a .380.

Today at Academy North Frisco
Academy1.thumb.jpg.62a8d2521880a62928a7f0582ce11e5e.jpg

9MM was had at $12.99
.380 was had at $19.99
Ammo was gone minutes after they opened.
I was pleased compared to the prices that I have found online.  I know that many don't care for Remington but at $12.99 I am happy even if I have to throw it.

Nice!

Trace Adkins Was Once Shot and Survived a Hurricane

1 month

Tracy Darrell Adkins has had an incredibly successful career in country music since his 1996 debut album with Capitol Records, Dreamin' Out Loud. With 12 studio albums under his belt, an induction into the prestigious Grand Ole Opry, and multiple ACM Awards wins, including ACM Vocal Event of the Year for "Hillbilly Bone" with Blake Shelton, the man is an American legend, big time.

The 58-year-old has made his way from numerous top 20 hits on the country charts like "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "(This Ain't) No Thinkin' Thing" to Hollywood. Adkins has had multiple TV appearances, including winning the 2013 season of NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice and continuous success since his first album.

From working on an oil rig in a hurricane to getting shot point-blank in the chest, the "You're Gonna Miss This" singer doesn't just sing country songs - he lives them. Here are the craziest things the honky-tonk country singer has survived.

1. Car accident and severed nose, ~1972

At the age of 17, Adkins was driving his '55 Chevy truck to his high school one morning when the frost on the windshield blocked an empty parked school bus from view. He hit the bus head-on and totaled the car. Despite puncturing both lungs, breaking several ribs, and getting a severed nose (don't worry, they sewed it back on!), he somehow survived and went on to garner a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech University. Sadly, knee injuries ended any chance of an athletic career, but the universe had other plans for Mr. Adkins - even if it would take a while for them to unfold.

2. Bulldozer accident, oil explosion, flipped truck, severed finger and stuck on an oil rig in a hurricane, 1982-1989

After college, Adkins worked several manual odd jobs before figuring out Nashville was the place to be. Somehow he managed to come away from FIVE work-related accidents with his life and limbs intact. In 1982, he was involved in a bulldozer accident that caused such deep cuts to his hindquarters that "I thought I was fixin' to lose both my legs." Less than a year later, a tank containing 400 barrels of oil exploded while he was trying to repair a leak, and his left leg was totally crushed. In 1988, he flipped his truck on an icy overpass in Texas, putting him in a neck brace (which at this point is pretty small potatoes.) A year after that, he accidentally cut off one of his fingers in another job accident.

Finally, for the cherry on top of this hellacious decade, Adkins was stranded with nine other coworkers on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico during 1989's Hurricane Chantal. To survive, "I got to the highest part of the living quarters on the rig, so if it turned over, I was pretty well centered and could go in either direction." He once said in an interview that he and the other riggers were leaning off the platform and into the winds at 45° angles for fun. Unfortunately for our hard-living hero, the worst was yet to come.

3. Shot in the heart and lungs by ex-wife, 1994

Adkins most recently went through his third divorce from ex-wife Rhonda Forlaw, but chances are it'll be more amicable than his second. In 1994, his second wife, Julie Curtis, got a little too fed up with his drinking. On Feb. 21, 1994, she told him that his most recent binge was her breaking point and told him to leave. After arguing, she pointed a .38 at him, and when he tried to disarm her, she shot him in the chest - through both lungs and both ventricles of his heart, specifically. "The doctors held little hope that I would survive and told my family and friends to go in and say goodbye," he wrote in his autobiography A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions from a Freethinking Roughneck.

4. House burns to ground, 2011

Adkins' Nashville home burned down after flames spread from the garage to the attic. Fortunately, his three daughters, MacKenzie, Brianna, and Trinity, escaped after employing fire safety tips they had learned in school. The dog and the children's nanny were also unscathed. "Stuff is stuff," said then-wife Rhonda, who was driving a few blocks away when the fire started and could see the black smoke in the sky. However, "I have not backed up all my photographs, and I'm just sitting here sick because those are the things that matter the most," she lamented. "It's your memories, our wedding pictures; I don't have because the negatives are in the house." Trace was flying to a couple of shows in Alaska when he got the call and immediately boarded a plane home to Tennessee after landing.

5. Fight with Trace Adkins impersonator, 2014

In his ongoing battle with alcoholism, Adkins checked into rehab again in 2014. The events that led to his recent stint are almost too absurd to be believed. After boarding a country cruise ship headed for Jamaica, Adkins got into a fight - with a Trace Adkins impersonator. The real Adkins must not have appreciated the phony one's karaoke skills, and they reportedly got into a 'brawl.' He checked into rehab after de-boarding the ship; his previous check-in was in was for a month in 2001, spurred on (amongst other things) by the death of his father. After announcing that he was entering rehab, he and his third wife of seventeen years, Rhonda, filed for divorce. We wish them all the best.

Local Academy in Richmond had...357 sig yesterday.    And 12ga dove loads.  For rifle loads, they had 25-06 and .243 in mass, almost nothing else.   A few boxes of .204 Ruger.

ETA: TONS of .22mag and .17.  Which reminded me I never bought a .17, and always wanted one. So guess I’ll be researching .17’s today.

It’s on the short list.

Friend of mine has 2 of these, both print jagged one hole groups.  Was a longtime competition .22 shooter, and overall great gun guy.  Every time we have lunch, he’ll ask me if I ever picked one up.  He’s coonass, and I have no idea if it’s legal, but he loves to spread a bag of Cheetos at 100-125 yards and shoot blackbirds with it.

*looked it up, apparently there is a season. Never would have known. He’s always been lawful when I hunt with him fwiw.

I’ve been carrying this .380 most of the time for 12 years. Lucky me though, Mrs. Brat won’t touch a gun.

My wife and I went to Reds (since BotW is no longer open) to break in that G48 pictured above. Before we left I had her practice racking the slide at the house.

It was her first time in a loooong time and Reds is a little noisy so I thought it might bother her. I got her some earplugs to put under the muffs which helped. It was loud but manageable.

I put the target at about 5 yards and she proceeded to put out a group no bigger than my face. I was impressed. I was able to shoot pretty tight groups with the 48. It is noticeably thinner than my G17/26. I liked it more than my Bersa BP9CC.

I don’t think she’ll be going regularly but it is good to know she can handle herself.

Wow, that is good to know. Thanks for the info.  Actually the .380 ACP isn't for me.  A buddy asked me to keep a lookout as he has two .380's and he can't find ammo for it anywhere that is reasonably priced.  I am about to start looking to purchase but was waiting until I received my LTC.

In the meantime my Dad gave me this:

llama.thumb.jpeg.d08b89bdf0ee706347f4ee566d0f89c6.jpeg

This is the Llama Comanche III 357 Magnum revolver.  From what I understand its not a great revolver but it looks nice and the price I paid was $0.

Nothing wrong with it.  Practice and practice some more.  I believe you can supplement .38sp in them to practice with and carry .357Mag for protection.

Glock 19 gen 5 MOS vs Sig P320 Compact?.  Trying to decide which 9mm to get.  Just bought 2 suppressors that are in jail.  I have never owned a glock but have a p938 already.  What are your thoughts?

Intended purpose?  I'd lean Sig every time with the choices presented.  Here's a great video of a former Unit guy (Mike Glover) that carried 19/17's that made the switch to the p320 and why.

Switching to SIG?

My partner just got a new Howa Mini-Action 6.5 Grendel with a 20" barrel.  Threaded, synthetic stock, with a box mag.

Light, short, smooth action.......helluva truck gun.  I've had nothing but good luck with Howa for great performance in a lower priced bolt gun and that's why he went that route.

He's planning on running a can on it from a blind since 6.5 Grendel suppresses well, but it'll be a great ride around gun without it.

Would also make an outstanding rifle for a kid or smaller framed shooter.

Congrats!

Yeah I've been researching the 19 for a while.  My local shop got 5 in today, and I was on the email list so I called to have them hold one.  I got there 30 minutes later to pick mine up and the other 4 were spoken for already.  Wife picket up a Hellcat last week.  So we are ready for the range with our new items.

what's wrong with the Glocks?

I just had to make a change form my Springfield XDS to something else, and I love my Glock 22 so much I decided the everyday should be a Glock too.  The 19 just fits perfect for me.

If I knew I was getting in a gunfight, my G22 is what I'd grab walking out the door

I might be liquidating some Glock gear:
Gen 4 19 FDE (entire gun is FDE) 500 rounds
Gen 5 19 100 rounds
Got around 12 total mags.

Still working through my plan. I also have a G43 I might be parting with.
