Like him, hate him or love him, and everything in between…a Texas football publishing legend.

I have never heard of anyone hating him, ever.

I worked at the Texas sports hall of fame in college and he was universally respected. I planned the magazine release party one year!

He has had zero involvement with the magazine for a while now.

Greg Tepper is doing his best to ruin that enterprise.

I would say he is dong an excellent job.

I know most cities in Texas because of him. I would get the mag in the summer and by the following year, I had pretty much memorized it.

Texas Football Magazine

Bill DeOre and Bill McLanahan editorial cartoons of the SWC.

These are the things I miss the most about growing up in the 60's.  Dave Campbell did the most outstanding job of documenting all of Texas football, from the six man squads to the Cowboys.  No one will ever come close to what he produced.  RIP to a Texas legend.

Growing up in the ‘70’s there was 2 publications I looked forward to; Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.
Well maybe a couple of catalogs too…

Add the Street and Smith's baseball yearbook for my list.

A Texas Icon and Legend.  Any kid who was mentioned in DCTF knows what that honor means.  He was also our neighbor in Waco so I got to know what an humble and genuine man he was.

I loved the fact that he covered just about every HS team in the state and he would always mention a kid or two that played for that team. I think I have a copy that had my name in it. Way in the back, in small print. But it made you feel like you were on the front cover.
