Lol, after reading the New York Times article, it doesn't even verify the laptop was legit. It verifies the authenticity of emails obtained by NYT from a cache of files "that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop." Meaning they still haven't confirmed that Hunter ever left his own laptop in that shop. So it's still entirely possible that a common theory at the time, that Russia had hacked his shit and loaded some legitimate emails along with some fake emails and some child porn onto a laptop that wasn't his, was indeed what happened.

@DalTxHornFan, what do you think is more likely? The theory I outlined above, or that Hunter Biden left a laptop with incriminating emails and child porn with a repair shop in Delaware, that repair guy went snooping through Hunter's laptop and found dirt, and knew Rudy Giuliani's fucking phone number to call him up and arrange to give it to him?

I don't know for sure, but it does seem that the narrative has changed a bunch since this piece was used to justify/explain why nobody wanted to talk about the NY Post story concerning Hunter's laptop:

Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say

Man, I literally just explained in the post you're responding to that what you're referring to as "the narrative" hasn't changed at all and that your claim about what the NYT had confirmed was overly broad. Try slowing down when you're reading so you can actually consider the words that your eyes are observing and what they mean.

I didn't miss a thing.  If the criminal investigation is taking the email info seriously -- they must have come to the conclusion that it was not Russian disinformation.  Of course, this whole conversation is based upon a lightly-sourced NY Times story!  Who knows where the truth lies?

It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out.

we know that icloud was hacked because we've all seen jlaw with spooge all over her face but the files on the laptop couldn't possibly have been a result of that.

Oh my God I just saw Joe Biden's motorcade in DC today.  Kind of cool.  We saw his balding pate in one of the cars.  Looks like he was reading something.  I was wearing a UT slicker and was thinking if it had been Bush II he would have stopped or at least given me a hook em.

One hangs out in DC and has the feeling that the only true, deepest sin that people are committing, and that is getting in the way of progress is a simple disrespect for our government.  I don't mind someone wanting to limit government, and providing a good argument to do so, but the fucked up way the GOP is trying to fuck up the government - how can they see the history as portrayed in our DC monuments and have so little respect?

As, always, the 2nd Inaugural address on the left side of the Lincoln Memorial makes you think:

While the inaugural address was being delivered from this place devoted altogether to saving the Union without war insurgent agents were in the city seeking to destroy it without war ~ seeking to dissolve the Union and divide effects by negotiation.

Strange how the "but misinformation" crowd is silent on this.  But yes, Joe Rogan is the problem.

Strange how you didn’t bother to read my post on this I made hours ago that shows Glenn is lying.

Buttery mails 2.0.

I've often thought the ploy of accusation/confession has been very effective regarding Hunter Biden since, for ahem...whatever reason, the topic of albino meerkat-faced Jared Kushner, just never seems to surface when the poo flinging starts. So many many red flags regarding his admission with respect to Cambridge Analytica and clandestine meetings with various Saudi interests, a Russian Ambassador, and  the president of a sanctioned bank, among others, so many security issues that eventually his clearance, dubiously granted,  is revoked, and such meddling in foreign policy that even Rex Tillerson finally discovers there is a line he won't cross. And that is all before the pandemic. And his wife along with her Dad, blatantly promoting a private business' canned foot product line from the Oval Office.

Geeesh.

*Apologies to meerkats, they don't deserve it, but ferrets take the brunt of it too often.

To answer your question, no, it is not a big deal. Hunter Biden had a laptop. On said laptop, there are business emails. None of that is a crime. Going one step further. If he did commit a crime, such as tax fraud, then I hope he gets prosecuted. People in this forum like people to be held accountable for their crimes.

Why? The man had a gun illegally and nothing happened.

As long as the Big Guy is still collecting his ten points, who cares?

Wait, now we care about a Dad hooking up his kids. Did you miss the part where Donald Trump literally put his child and her husband on the federal payroll? Or when the state department has to arrange and facilitate a hunting trip for another child?

WA state is all mail in voting since I believe 2011.  They send a ballot to every registered voter in the state is what I understand.  Are you saying that their elections have all been fraudulent since then?  If not, then why wouldn't this work in all other states?

CO does the same.  It works great and I'll never go back to waiting in line to vote again.

Coincidentally I just saw a piece on Milk Street that showed an old video of Christopher Kimble with José Andrés and José made garlic and bread soup. I never heard of it. José sautéed a bunch of garlic in olive oil, added torn up slices of bread, added a generous amount of smoked paprika, then water, then whisked an egg into it. That’s all it was. I might have to try that with old bread.
