Take the tweet for what you will, but watch the CNN clip, in full.

Oh, you mean the clip that the RNC research cut off?

https://nysba.org/georgia-vs-new-york-on-voting-rights-no-contest/

"Yes, many of its election laws are antiquated. New York still lacks no-excuse absentee voting. It still does not allow for mobile voting centers. But much of that is changing and the state is moving forward to expand the franchise for all voters, not restrict it for poor, immigrant and Black and Brown voters.

New York has enacted automatic voter registration for those applying for a driver’s license, Medicaid, unemployment, public housing and other government services. New York has added online voter registration, as well as preregistration for teenagers starting at age 16. New York also has enacted permanent early voting. The legislature recently voted to permit election-day registration and no-excuse absentee ballots, which will now go before voters in November for a final vote before they can be added to the constitution - [Unfortunately, this failed.  The GQP mobilized its voters, and bad turnout by Dems meant this failed]. And the governor signed into law a bill that restores voting rights to people upon release from prison, including those on parole supervision. Georgia, in another vestige of Jim Crow, prohibits individuals with felony convictions from voting while in prison, on parole or on probation – disenfranchising over 200,000 voters.

Some point to the fact that Georgia requires more early voting days than New York, but they hide the legislative details. Early voting in Georgia is now limited to working hours and is forbidden before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m., a change designed to curtail voting by urban voters and those who cannot leave their jobs to vote. While it is correct that early voting on Saturdays is required in Georgia, early voting on Sundays conspicuously is not, leaving counties free to limit ballot access to Black parishioners who traditionally vote after church on Sundays. Compared to Georgia, New York offers more days of weekend voting, including two Sundays."

So, that is complete and fucking bullshit.

Also, in NYC, where there are many noncitizens, they will be able to vote in local elections.  So many people are upset about this.  Remember, fucking Revolutionary War was started due to taxation without representation.

@Trey3216, you are a fucking sad troll.  Get fucked.

Yes. Yes he did. Know what else restaurants require? They make you pay money. Can’t get your dinner at Applebee’s without paying $15. Guess we should do that for voting, too!

Your ability to exercise a fundamental RIGHT generally should be less restrictive than your ability to exercise a PRIVILEGE.

But I actually do like the analogy for one easy, fat fastball down the middle reason: if the proponents of voter ID laws would make obtaining a photo ID as easy, accessible, and widely available as it is to get a COVID vaccine….I would have zero problem supporting such laws.

I can get a COVID shot, usually with no appointment or wait, at two places within walks distance of my house. Probably 10 more within a 5 minute drive. Vaccine shots are frequently available in even the smallest of towns (the kind of places that don’t have a DPS drivers license office) - they’ll put on a clinic at the Dollar General in Goatspleen, Texas. You can easily get a shot in some do the poorest parts of town here. Make a photo ID that easy to get, and I’m on board.

Know of any voter ID laws that include any requirement to make IDs anything CLOSE to that accessible? No? Hmmm….I wonder why that is? Could it be that the reason for voter ID laws is NOT to address the non-problem of ballot security, but actually they’re intended to do something else? I mean, being that the very people pushing such laws have ADMITTED as much….it’s a gosh darn mystery.

Perhaps the fact that people that hate voter id laws have also admitted that non-citizens should be able to vote should be a concern, unless you want to let millions of new non-citizen voters into the country by claim of racism and xenophobia if you think otherwise.   Yeah, that’s happening too.

You’re not that binary a thinker, but you sure do like to make binary comments.  C’mon man

The biggest difference is that the New York lege is actually trying to make things easier!  The voters in the burbs and upstate fucked that one, which is really disappointing.

FYI, I voted absentee for mayor.  While you still had to have an excuse to get an absentee ballot, COVID was deemed to be an adequate excuse.  It was easy peasy.

So to summarize NY it is harder to get a mail in ballot and early voting timeframe is much less. Seems like people are mad at the wrong state. It is indeed much more restrictive to vote in NY.

You really are this stupid, aren't you?  There are TWO posts after something that OBVIOUSLY cuts off the bit that basically say arguments saying that are horseshit.  Do us all a favor and post less.

In local, NYC elections.  You know, because the laws that get passed fucking impact them too.  Are you really this fucking dumb?

FYI, non UK citizens are allowed to vote in certain elections as long as they are a resident.  France has something similar.

These people fucking live here, numbnuts.  They pay taxes, they contribute, and you want to deny them the right to have a say in the laws that impact their day to day the most?  This is municipal elections, not federal elections.

I’m sure there’s some data you could post to back this up.

Many localities allow non citizens to vote because they live there abs the laws effect them. Weird

No, because @Trey3216 would rather post a single source that obviously cuts off a piece from CNN before it actually calls him on his bullshit.  And his idiotic pals @Bravo and @workswithseed are following him around lapping it up.  They must be really nervous that their orange god is in serious trouble with the SCOTUS refusing to get involved.

I watched that whole sequence live and have watched and read about it on multiple venues.   That was the quickest one to find.  It still doesn’t cancel the fact that New York has a shorter early voting period and more antiquated mail in voting laws than the “New Jim Crow” Georgia laws, as defined by a racist, incoherent septuagenarian who gave the eulogy at two of the most horrific racists to grace the halls of Congress.   Solid defense.

I support expediting citizenship, but I also support citizenship.

I believe it’s a citizen’s right and obligation to vote.

I know for a fact that many who support non-citizens voting believe that anyone, including non-citizens be able to vote in any election.   I can’t get behind that.   I also can’t get behind people throwing fits about voting in jurisdictions without an id for that jurisdiction.  What happens if you early vote in Nevada and move to LA for an acting job for a week?    Do you get to vote in LA during the regular period?   That was an issue that arose in several jurisdictions over the last several elections.  That’s bullshit too.

im for a lot of the same things a lot of you are, but it just seems many of you want them without documentation or recourse, or transparency as some like to call it.

Cool. Let’s protect against your problem that literally no investigation has revealed to be a material problem at all….no matter, let’s solve it. Require voter ID….but you have to make getting one as accessible as getting a COVID shot.

You and I both know the officials pushing Voter ID laws won’t take that deal, and we both know why.
