It was cool to visit Celis this weekend... don't know that I've had a Celis since my college years (pre-bankruptcy)

Their witbier is still the best on the planet.

I'm sure some of you hopheads probably already knew about this brewery, but I didn't so I'm linking it here, dammit.  I have no idea if their beers are any good, but the name is a good start.

Yes. It's a great brewery.

Just went to Portland and the Oregon coast (Astoria, Cannon Beach, Tillamook and Pacific City) for a long weekend. Hit up several good breweries/bars on most of the usual lists of beer places to check out: Great Notion, Loyal Legion, Great Haus (opened in the old Modern Times space), Fort George, Bridge and Tunnel, de Garde, Public Coast and Pelican Brewing.

However, I also had beers in a couple of unusual places.

For example, in Cannon Beach, you can have beers and food in a working hardware store: Cannon Beach Hardware

I bought and drank a beer (appropriately Boneyard’s RPM IPA) while looking at vinyl in the Northwest’s oldest running music store (Music Millennium…operating since 1969). Seems like beer in music stores should be more of a thing or I’ve just been missing out.

While in Pacific City, stopped by a wine shop for my wife…a wine shop that had both Blind Pig and Pliny the Elder on tap. If you were driving by looking to get some good beer, you wouldn’t think to stop here. Turns out it’s run by the brother of Vinnie from Russian River.

Also, the Henry’s Tavern bar in PDX Terminal C does crowler fills. Never seen that in an airport bar (especially in a bar not affiliated with a brewery) before.

Stopped by yesterday and had it.  It was... okay.  I don't know what my expectations were, for a double witbier, but I guess that this wasn't it.  It was extremely fruity, way more than normal Celis White, and I prefer the original rather than the double. Still glad I got by and tried it, along with some more of the usual suspects.  The Vienna lager is tasty, that's their Festbier for the season.

This is starting to become a thing in Boise and I hope it does!

a case of 500ml ayinger oktoberfests, all for me.

Awesome!  Love the Ayinger.  Great time of year- football starting, and Oktoberfest hitting the shelves.

Really like the Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier too - which uses lighter malt.

On Friday, on my drive back to the city I’m stopping in Tree House.  Will pick up a number of items.

Well, Tree House has a really pretty place in Charlton.  Was awesome that it was on the way back.

Here is the haul.

Was just at central market and picked up a liter can of the Paulaner packaged with a glass beer stein for like $12. That same mug on Amazon sells for $30, but you would have to be a moron to pay that much.

Tried these from HEB recently:

Saint Arnold's Amber Ale - 👍, reminds me of Sam Adams

Saint Arnold's Art Car IPA - 👎, unless you like your beer to taste like grapefruit. Then by all means, chug away.

They're on 620, same shopping center as Interstellar BBQ (formerly Noble Pig).

I tried them a few weeks back and didn't think they were awful.  But they also weren't memorable in any way.
