BTN is showing baseball for once and not wrestling or hockey or whatever else.  Nebraska is up 3-2 over Michigan after 4.

And now 9-6 Nebraska after a 50+ minute 5th inning.  Michigan hit 4 consecutive HRs in the top half and Nebraska scored 6 and left the bases loaded in the bottom.

Yeah they are no doubt the #1 team in the country right now. They’ve pretty much pulverized everybody but us

SCar took 2/3 from Vanderbilt this past weekend.    Thus far,  alot of inconsistency with the exception of Tenn.   TCU (18-5, 5-1) may be the surprise team so far though a relatively weak schedule. (KSt, Baylor conf wins).

So Tennessee douche hits oppo bomb and they waive it off and rule him out on account of having an uncertified bat.  But they don’t toss him?  What the fuck?

Auburn got called for an illegal bat as well last weekend.

Well they say come out to the ballpark and you’ll see something you have never seen before.  FAU pitcher threw an immaculate inning in the bottom of the 9th to seal the 6-5 win. First time I’ve ever seen that in person.

Lulz. Bobcats ranked #10 in D1B poll. I'm old friends with Sorenson, and texted him after the AZ series to tell him not to be late hopping on the bandwagon (and yet they didn't rank them that week).

GaSouthern (#16 in RPI somehow) comes to SM this weekend for a big series.

Entertainment from the UH/SHSU game on Tuesday.    Read that UH/SHSU have a rivalry and play for the Sanders Cup (whatever that may be).

Houston won 8-6.

Oh, geez, whatever.  The pitch was not very hard and it was over the batter's head.  Bfd.

My boy at GA State shoved a boot up the ass of Coastal  night 14-8 or some such (they scored 5 in the 8th after he emptied his bench up 14-3) to move to 8-2 in the ‘Belt and tied with the mighty Texas State Bobcats.
I’m hoping against hope they can win the regular season at something like 22-6 and that it would be good enough for a berth without having to win the tournament. TX State being top 10 ranked and the last season of the year for him in Atlanta would help with that. Lot of top 50/75 Sun Belt teams in the RPI. Will be interesting to see if anyone other than TX State has a shot at getting an invite without having to win the conference.

If they can win the CC (38 RPI),  Ga Southern (25 RPI),  and Texas St (37 RPI) series would improve their RPI of 58.    But safest thing is to win the conference tournament.

In other news,  Florida beat Ark today 9-7 to end the Hogs' 13 straight conference series winning streak.     Florida may be waking up,  currently 5-7 in conference.

@Beau Vinedid you watch the Tx State vs Georgia Southern series?  If so- how legit was Southern?  What was it- 3 games that were all 1 run?

The Bobcats blew big leads in each game, and rallied in the 9th today to salvage one game of the series.  Bobcats' weakness, as you'd expect from a mid-major, is bullpen depth, and the wind was blasting straight out yesterday and today.  GaSou is damn good, like wouldn't-be-shocked-to-see-them-win-a-regional good. Sun Belt is really strong this season.

Speaking of, whatever happened to @GSU&UT?

My Buddy is in first at Georgia State but they don’t have any good wins outside of conference (except for a raping of Clemson but that’s looking less impressive by the day).
they haven’t played GA Southern but did sweep USA and @Coastal Carolina so that’s trending up. 3 sweeps and 1 & 2 at Monroe when they just were a circus in the field and gave 2 away. I’m a big Tx State and Ga Southern fan down the stretch- if those guys are good enough my hope is that if he can squeeze out a regular season championship they can get a regional berth without having to win the tournament- and that would obviously come with at least a 3 seed.
it’s funny- because they’ve swept Coastal, Little Rock and USA those teams are all under 500, but taking out the series against Georgia State they’d be comfortably above 500.
My guess is Texas State probably wins conference by a couple games and Georgia Southern is second with Georgia State third, but I’m daring to dream right now.
Historically what’s the most teams the sun belt has ever gotten in, do you know?
thanks for the scouting report and context.

Man I remember back in the mid 80s when the Southern Jags were in our regional at the Disch.  They had some center fielder who had the speed of a cheetah.  Can’t remember his name, but I’ve never before or since seen a dude that could walk down what should have been doubles and triples like that MF’er.

That’s all I’ve got.

I guess you missed Ollie Linton from Irvine in that Round Rock regional.  That dude still gives people nightmares.

I'm here off and on still, just very busy with life these days for good and not-so-good reasons. I haven't actually watched Georgia Southern's team really this year, but they've generally been pretty good over the past 15 or so years but never can make enough noise to get to at least a Super Regional.

And Tennessee Tech holds on to beat Tennessee 3-2.  They had a relief pitcher enter in the 4th and closed out the game finishing with 9 Ks and didn't allow a hit.  In the process he lowered his ERA to 6.93.  Baseball is a funny game.

Meanwhile Miami scored 3 in the bottom of the 8th to beat FAU 7-6.
