This one is a classic.

In London, where Southampton Row passes Russell Square, across from the British Museum in Bloomsbury, Leo Szilard waited irritably one gray Depression morning for the stoplight to change. A trace of rain had fallen during the night; Tuesday, September 12, 1933, dawned cool, humid and dull. Drizzling rain would begin again early in the afternoon. When Szilard told the story later he never mentioned his destination that morning. He may have had none; he often walked to think. In any case another destination intervened. The stoplight changed to green. Szilard stepped off the curb. As he crossed the street time cracked open before him and he saw a way to the future, death into the world and all our woe, the shape of things to come.

Two outstanding bios of Oppenheimer. This is from 2006 and was the main source for the movie:

American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer: Bird, Kai, Sherwin, Martin J.: 9780375726262: Amazon.com: Books

This one is from 2014 and is more science-y while wrestling with Oppenheimer's complexities and contradictions.

This movie is giving off a strong ‘bomb’ vibe

I’m probably wrong, but three hours on making the atom bomb would be a better documentary

I'm sure there's a Fast and Furious movie around here you can watch instead.

You can be, and are wrong.

It could bomb because a subject like this is generally too dense for most stupid ass Americans, overseas people won’t appreciate it (do you even release this in Japan…I doubt the good citizens of Hiroshima will be lining up) and at three hours it’s much too long for our attention span of a gnat society (seriously you paid 100 fucking bucks for your tickets, drinks, candy for the kids and that big ass tub of popcorn, where exactly do you have to be that 3 hours is just too much….sit your sloth ass there and stay off the Tik Tok)

But don’t think it will bomb because it is bad.

lingering shots of Florence Pugh’s merkin

I believe Ms. Pugh is a method actor so I would  expect a full physical commitment to the part.

The movie will feature “prolonged full nudity” by Pugh and Murphy.

Are lingering shots of Florence Pugh’s merkin worth the cost of prolonged shots of Murphy’s dong? I guess we’ll find out.

Guess I won't be bringing my son to it.

I'd watch 2 hours of Cillian on hold with the passport office. I'm sure I can sit through a little ass cheeks and dong.

Would rather have had Emily Blunt, but ok, I guess.

My 70-something dad is excited about the movie, and has full 70mm IMAX tickets.  I’m chuckling a lot imagining him having to see Cillian’s three foot dong on the screen.

This is a story better told in a 8-10 EP miniseries on HBO. So much complexity and intrigue, and I hope it doesn’t take a revisionist stance in its historical purview or try to refashion history thru a 2023 lens.

It won't because Nolan is a fucking professional and on the Mt. Rushmore of his generation.

You must have missed Dunkirk.

Dunkirk is a master piece, and Memento isn’t far behind. For that he gets a life pass. His popcorn movies like Dark Knight are just ok to me, but he’s always worth a watch at the very least. I will be at the 70mm IMAX on opening day for this one.

8 Oscar Noms and 2 Victories. As much as I appreciate Dunkirk its not in the same class as TDK. 9.0 on IMDB. And is there really any debate that TDK is the best movie of the superhero genre?
