Because you forgot to put on your depends?

The republicans are doing this because they are spineless cowards who believe in nothing but sucking an old orange cock, lowering taxes for the rich and stealing money from the government. You must be so proud.

From the NYT's article, there appear to be a litany of complaints related to scheduling, perceived bias of the board, having representatives at the board meetings, and moderator selection. Some seem reasonable, like the below, others appear to be petty grievances.

One major concern for the R.N.C. was the timing of the first debate in the 2024 election cycle.

In 2020, more than one million ballots were cast before the first presidential debate on Sept. 29 that year, after some states changed their election rules because of the coronavirus pandemic and expanded both absentee and early voting. The party has been pushing the commission to host a debate before early voting begins in 2024.

Wallace is a total liberal puppet.  That he's moderated the last three cycles is just proof of that!  And don't get me started on Bob Schieffer who's been moderating the debates since Nixon, total Democrat hack despite being a lifelong registered Republican and friend of the Bush family.

As many have said, they don't really serve the purpose they once did because of social media and 24 hour news.  The only reason I still watch them is to see who seems to have backbone.  Who calls out the other one's bullshit when appropriate?  I'm a policy junkie but the debates are really just to see how people can stand on a big stage with high stakes and stay within reason.  This move by the RNC is no way surprising.

Now what would be interesting would be if the RNC canceled primary debates.  Because that 2016 shitshow was the greatest thing I've ever seen and I've seen the Northern Lights in Canada on acid.  Watching one savvy politician after another just stand there in shame-filled shock, "I'm sorry, but is the nation aware he's a fucking game show host?   Am I putting too fine point on it?"  They just sat back and took it.  Like Jimmy and Henry at the diner in "Goodfellas."

The debates have always mattered to swing voters who are willing to put a little time effort and thought into the decision. Unfortunately that's probably only a few thousand people.

The people basing their votes on debate performance were the people putting the least amount of thought into their vote, not the most.

How about a Twitter debate.  Feed in a list of topics into a bot that randomly selects just the topic and then each candidate spits out 280 characters on "national security."  Whoever gets the most likes and RTs is the winner.  Better yet, no topics and we just let the candidates take turns tweeting whatever bullshit they want, with bonus points for beefing with Kristen Stewart.

"But President Trump, you can beat him.  Don't forget, he has alzheimer's, dementia, a speech impediment, a stutter, and is old and feeble."

Trump, "Sorry, I wasn't listening.  I was going over my remarks for my OAN interview tonight.  (mumbles quietly) Man.  Woman.  Person.  Camera.  and.....dammit, I had something for this!"

I think the people putting the least amount of thought into their vote are the ones basing their decision on what they see and hear in political ads. And I think there are millions of them, many of whom don’t even bother to watch the debates.

Literally just a response from Trump's poor performance and believe that he would do the same thing again. And it's not like Biden was that great. But the only things I remember from the debate is:

1. Trump constantly interrupting and acting like a child in the first debate
2. Biden saying he would hurt the oil industry

Number one stands out much, much more.

Trump also skipped the covid test because he had covid and didn't want to test positive.

can't lose the next debate if your opponent is dead, bro!  See, this is why you're not a highly paid political consultant.

In the present era where conservative culture is synonymous with troll culture, debates are worthless. Biden/Trump #1 cemented that. A live donkey show would have been more enlightening than that garbage.

Until conservatives decide to be conservative again rather than reflexive trolls, there’s not really a point in having debates. I have more cogent debates with my 4 year old when he’s having a meltdown. That’s not an endorsement of Democratic Party policies or values, but an observation that Republicans have given up acting like adults.

Note, if “leftist” is a regular part of your vocabulary used to describe those politically different than you, you’ve abandoned the realm of adults and joined conservative troll culture. Same goes for cries of socialism, communism, etc.

Having said that, if this actually means we won’t be having debates in the run up to 2024, that’s a bad sign. Reasoned and passionate debate and discussion is a bedrock principle of what defined American greatness. The moment we all agree that there’s no point to such a debate, we’ve all (once again) agreed to abandon American greatness.

After the first debate they gave the moderator a mute button so they could turn off Trump’s mic if he wouldn’t shut up and give Biden a chance to speak.

This is the real reason why the RNC is doing this.
