And this will be my annual post about strongly disliking our all-oranges.

I agree.  They'd be tolerable without the half leg stripe and black lettering outline, but that would still leave a lot of orange.

Of course, storm-trooperish white is GOAT, perhaps less so for the bat sports.  But when I was on campus, white things with orange print or logos were the rage.

Mack kind of changed that a bit with the "wear burnt orange" thing.  But all orange is rough.  Glad the boiz have never adopted such a thing.

🙂  No,  want Chelsea Spencer back and to not finish in last place in B12 defensive stats.    We had 8 errors in 3 games last year vs OU at the debacle in Norman.

Defense must get better... 2 more errors

Texas wins 8-4. Off for Florida for a gauntlet of a weekend

I will in Clearwater for the tournament on Friday. This weekend will go along way on telling us where this team is headed for the rest of the year. I will post some screen shots from the fields when I have a chance.

Yep, we on TV twice today!

Event actually started yesterday, but luckily we got a travel day due to playing on Wednesday in Austin.

Tenn 11 - ND 3
Auburn 7 - Tech 1
Wisconsin 9 - UCF 1
Clemson 8 - Tech 0
FSU 9 - Tenn 3
Wisconsin 2 - ND 1

Today is STACKED!  This should become the best nonconference tournament because ESPN is willing to air it for free.  Sucks to suck, Judi Garmin Classic and all the others that you have to pay to watch via FloSoftball.

Michigan-OSU kick off at 9am
UW-Tenn
Texas-FSU
LSU-OSU
Auburn-Texas
Tenn-Clemson
UW-LSU

Ok St ace Kelly Maxwell pitched a 1 hit shutout vs Michigan.    4-0 Ok St.    Ok St is tough.

This is true.

But I'm always iffy on the northern teams early in the season - how much outdoor field practice time have they actually gotten.  They come down to these warm weather tournaments and non-conf games to shake off the rust from their indoor practices because their field is covered in snow or frost.

Poor Parker can't get out of her own way. Eaten up for a weak ground out DP then misses a throw she must catch at this level that turns into a run for FSU.

SS is a problem.

Jesus Christ.

Walk, wild pitch, wild pitch, double.

Down 0-3.  We are getting run ruled.   Shea should not have started this game.  She's terrible this year.

yeesh...not saying that double should have been caught, but it definitely could have been caught.  It was playable.

Regardless, Shea needs to figure some things out.

Our defense is garbage, and our offense isn’t picking them up today. Just how it is sometimes with Mike White softball

Pitching too - two wild pitches after a walk?  This is why we haven't been a serious Big 12 contender in years.

I’m out. This is embarrassing

I was out after that "double."

This team has problems already.

Cantu has never played the outfield.   lB, 3B, DP at Tech.   Can't recall if she played OF here last year.    Example of offense over defense.   That low liner in the 2d inn was very catchable.

Why save Dolcini for #25 Auburn vs #6 Florida St.

Don't anyone jump,  old cliche "It is a marathon, not a sprint"

Cantu did not play OF last year, IIRC.  She was primary 3B.

Mike White's "position-less" defense is not going to cut it.  Players need reps, in game and in practice, at one position.  Relying on an infielder to play OF does no one any favors.  We brought it two very legit OF with collegiate experience (Dayton and Gilbert) - play them!  Any OF combo of Cantu/Whitaker is not going to win us any games, in my opinion.

We have Dayton, Gilbert, Burke and Popelka who can all play OF so we go with our slowest player at RF and someone who played mostly IF last year in LF.  Make it make sense.

No idea why we threw Shea against FSU and Dolcini against Auburn. Should have flipped. Dolcini will need to go tomorrow against UCLA too…
