2022 Texas Softball - Locked and Loaded

Recommended Posts

The Big 12 currently goes:

OU 6-0
Texas 6-0
OSU 8-1
Baylor 2-7
Tech 2-7
Kansas 2-7
ISU 1-5

The bottom of the conference has been through the ringer, with 6 series already against OU, Texas and OSU (only ISU picked up a win against the 3).

Meanwhile, the top 3 have not faced each other yet.  That ends this weekend: Texas faces OU and OSU back to back weekends.  OSU also has the hardest finish to the schedule - 3 versus Texas, 3 versus FSU and 3 versus OU (6 on the road).

Those might be pretty realistic expectations Js1.  I’ve followed you guys pretty closely while trying not to OU up this thread. You seem to have righted the ship after the early struggles. We have played well but saying the level of competition has been light would be putting it mildly. This weekend and the closing series against the Cowgirls will tell us much more about this OU team than anything the last 6 weeks. I’m ready to watch the first pitch fly tonight. Really glad all 3 games are being televised on LHN.

So, we get to watch this out pitcher for only 3 more years?  Gzzzzzz

The pitcher doesn’t matter when OU’s gorilla ball offense just scores a gajillion runs a game

This ou pitcher was the #1 overall recruit last year….and a freshman.  Giving up less than 1 run per game, so if we can’t hit her, we can’t score, and with their gorillas, that explains their total domination of their opponents.

She’s only pitched about a third of our games. We have three pitchers with at least 10 wins. I’m guessing Bahl goes tonight and Saturday and you see Trautwein tomorrow.

Jordy Ball is amazing but may be illegal. Her hop off the mound is very controversial.

Great game by Dolcini and great coaching by MW to teach her how to attack the OU hitters.  3 mistakes.

Disappointed that Singleton did not have hitters shorten their swings especially with two strikes and just try to make contact.    Iakopo in the 6th was a terrible AB.   Swung at 2 questionable inside pitches and then chased.   Credit Rocha with knowing Iakopo can't lay off the inside pitch.  Doing a fake bunt twice is ridiculous.

Bahl can be beat by the more experienced teams with good coaching.   She is too emotional.

Very proud of the way the team played except for the errors.

It’s borderline illegal but not gonna get called consistently

She’s very reminiscent of Amanda Fouts from Alabama in that regard. Bahl had it called on her several times earlier in the season. She’s worked on it and it’s much less conspicuous now. Js1 is right though. Not going to get called consistently. Just like the rest of the top pitchers across the sport that employ similar mechanics.

Curious if it will get called postseason bc that’s usually when the calls suddenly appear.

Just move the circle to 40 feet again and do away with the crow hopping and replanting rules, 75 feet between bases instead of 60 and modernize the game.  Between the technology, player speed and stuff, time to revamp things

The distance moved to 43 feet to make the game more interesting….in the 80s. Players and technology have changed.  They were tired of 1-0 games with both pitchers having double digit Ks bc it was “boring”

75 feet would be way too much IMO. maybe 65.  this will stop the slashing as a strategy also.
