TIL that Miranda Elish left Texas for osu....WTF?

Yep. Took a year off bc “covid concerns” and then transferred to OSU after getting her degree remotely. Lotta speculation she may not have been asked back bc she quit on the team right before the 2021 season started, moved to Alabama and just completely abandoned the program

Texas had 2 runners on base with 0 outs and couldn’t get a run across. That about sums it up for our series against OKST

Just the series?? 😂

He is fortunate no suspension.

In accordance with the Big 12 Conference Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Policy, Commissioner Bob Bowlsby has issued a public reprimand of University of Texas head softball coach Mike White for his actions while exiting the field after his first inning ejection during today’s Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship semifinal game vs. Oklahoma State.

“Coach White’s action was a clear violation of Sportsmanship expectations, and we accept his public apology,” Bowlsby said.

OU just finished sweeping OSU in reg season….I’m thinking OU owns them.

Um, they pretty much “own” everyone. You managed to find a way to get one win and that’s their only loss. It’s not even interesting watching them play.

Great game !     Great defensive plays (except the last error by OKSt ss) that only MW would not appreciate.

Top 2 RPI teams (OU/Va Tech) lost in their conf tournament.    OU will likely retain the #1 overall seed though Jordy Bahl is injured.   Be interesting to see if the committee considers injury as a negative.

(excerpt)

“Jordy right now, we’re just trying to give her a rest and give Hope (Trautwein) this opportunity and Nicole May,” Gasso said after the win on Friday. “All season long I’ve been talking about how many innings we’ve lost, and it will become a factor if we don’t continue to give these guys an opportunity.

“Because right now Jordy’s had the most opportunities and innings, and so we’re going to leave her there for right now.”

Gasso didn’t completely rule Bahl out of Saturday’s Big 12 Championship, but offered no timetable for her return to the circle.

“There’s a little bit of soreness, and we don’t want to mess with that,” Gasso said. “That’s important for us. So we can do this, should be able to do this with our other pitchers and they need to feel that.”

Selection show today. Will likely be a 2 seed. Hopefully it’s not getting sent way out to Seattle or something. Maybe Missouri, UCF or Northwestern. We’ll be slotted somewhere around 17-20 so we should be sent to the 13-16 seeded teams, not the high seeded teams like Arkansas or UCLA or VT

Though D1 Softball disagrees. Historically, Texas would be the choice over UCF for the final spot bc non-P5 hosting is rare

If UT is 16 or 17 and wins, I guess that'll mean a trip to Norman for a OU-UT super-regional.

This OU team isn't hitting as well as last years, and the Sooner bats have been relatively quiet the last 15 games. OU's runs per game is down to 7 (from 9) during this time. Throw out a 19-spot vs hapless Kansas and that average is 6.4.

6.4 would still be top 15 in the nation, but teams like Arkansas, Tennessee, and UCLA average about the same in better conferences.

Jody Bahl is the real difference maker for OU. The Sooners didn't have anyone like her last year. If she's not fully healthy, OU's definitely a good, not great team.
