I used to look forward to this day as much NSD and NFL draft.

With the 9 different classifications and 2 6-man, there's not as much riding on the 'tweeners" who could go either way, that is to say the smaller differentiation has made this day less impactful on difficulty of the next 2 years in sports, for those schools, respectively.

All that being said, I'll be looking forward to perusing the new districts and seeing who went where...and who stayed in place.

I am hoping Windthorst goes back west where they belong with AC and company.

10 team district in 5A-2 in Region 4 with Alamo Heights in with all the inner city San Antonio schools.

Dripping and Buda Johnson jump to 6A and are in same district with LT and Westlake

Hoping my local Highland Park team is paired with the Irving schools rather than D’ville/Desoto or Rockwall ISD!

It’ll be a cold day in hell before HP gets put in a district with the south Dallas juggernauts.

You avoided the Rockwall schools too. Just got added to the Irving/ Richardson district. Easy transition to 6A, biggest challenge in football is just Jesuit.

Not that many outside of Austin care, but they split up Anderson and McCallum.  I guess the Taco Shack Bowl will be a non-district game.

That has been the case for a number of years.  They play the Taco Shack Bowl week 1.

Here's what District 2 in 5A Second division looks like (did this in Google Maps):

And here's the state of Pennsylvania for comparison (same scale):

Who thought making a district like this was a good idea?

The larger schools in R1 sometimes have to travel.  Aledo baseball was in the same district as San Angelo a few years ago when my nephew was on the team.

Replaced Lubbock Cooper and Randall with LHS and PD.

Not sure what other options they had other than to tinker with the schools' actual classifications.

Lorena and Franklin, the current 3A Div 1 & 2 state champs are now in the same district

Same with Stephenville and China Spring

Denton Ryan and Aledo in the same district....have fun with that boys.

Holy shit. Talk about going right to the big boys for Aledo. Our 100+ consecutive district wins is in jeopardy in the next two years.

Those two definitely should be 1&2 although Burleson Centennial and Northwest should also be decent.

Perryton and Seminole. 4 hours and 50 minutes by car.

If the football team does not get a motel (or play at a neutral site) they will be lucky to be home by 6:00 am the next morning.

Big winner of the day is Midway escaping district 11 the Little SEC

Waco and Midway finished last and second-to-last in that district. Waco went winless and Midway’s only win was against Waco.

Enrollment numbers saved them, Waco dropped to 5AD1 so Midway lost their travel partner, and another Mansfield school moved up to 6A to be a more natural replacement.

Lufkin's in a district with North Mesquite. OK then.

Longview, Lufkin, and John Tyler have been District mates most of the time throughout the years.

What's so weird about that set up?

I mean McKinney and not Mesquite.

That they went so far north instead of south. Big diff between Lufkin to Longview and Lufkin to McKinney North.

Just surprised they didn’t go south.

2A Div 1, District 3: Anthony should've opted to not drop down. Their travel is just brutal.

  • 427 miles to Christoval
  • 402 miles to Sonora
  • 377 miles to Forsan
  • 367 miles to Ozona
  • 353 miles to Big Lake

The worst part of it all is that they didn't win state.  They were runner up.

It was going to be either us who went there or Skyline since DISD throws a fit whenever we’re paired with their teams.

Yep. My bad.

In my head, beating Mart was the final.

Damn,  but regardless, that new district sucks moose balls.
