Draws are up. Roland Garros' website is garbage as usual so here's the draws

Women:

Men

Nadal has somewhat of a test in the first round against Dolgopolov.

Serena, Sharapova, and both Pliskova's are in the same section of their draw.

Nadal is the heavy favorite on the mens side (as always). Women's side could be won by a handful of players.

The US media is making way too big a deal over Serena not being seeded. If the WTA was truly being unfair, she wouldn't be playing at all since her ranking isn't high enough to even be in the qualifying tournament right now. Also, coming back from pregnancy or injury, why should she keep her seeding from 2 years ago? She's not the same player she was 2 years ago and has only played a few matches all year ( and didn't look great in any of them)

Agreed, and I love rooting for her, but if she is in form it won’t matter. I agree about her being a different player from two years ago. Nothing never changes.

The whining out of that family and supporters of that family (over their careers) rivals the greatest whining in sports history.

This is what I was thinking. If you’re back, who cares where you are in the draw. Go win. You might have to face the top seeded players earlier, but they’re going to come around sooner or later.

Seems like there would be less pressure and no excuses if she were to flop. On the other hand, you bitch and whine. Now you better go out and show something otherwise you look like an idiot.

to be fair, those suits are banned in swimming competition. lol

Big dogs on the mens side are struggling today, notably Zverev and Dmitrov.

Fatigue may be catching up to Zverev. He's known to run out of gas at times and has been playing a very tough clay schedule.

As for Dimitrov, he's always struggled with consistency unfortunately.

Karolina/Maria in R3.

And this is funny.

When you go to Townsend’s player profile on the RG app, it just has a blank space next to “weight”. All the other players I looked at have their weight written there. Kind of awkward. Don’t know if they left it out on purpose but all it reminds me of is a scale that displayed an error message when she stood on it

Zverev came back from a 2-1 deficit to win in 5. He's struggling so far. Djokovic and Nishikori are through to the R16 as well.

Really frustrating to see Dimitrov continuing to struggle. He's apparently taking an extended break from tennis, let's see if it helps. He has all the tools and potential to play like Federer 2.0.

Way to go out on a limb, bro.

No. 6 seed Karolina Pliskova vs. No. 28 seed Maria Sharapova(Sharapova leads, 1-0)

It's surprising that these two similar players have only played once, in a Fed Cup clash resolved without undue drama. But that was in 2015, before Pliskova really hit her stride -- something she's on the cusp of doing again. She's an outstanding 48-18 over the past year, with titles on clay and grass and quarterfinal-or-better results galore. On clay, she's 11-3, including a win at Stuttgart.

Sharapova, who returned from a doping suspension in April 2017, can't match that record. She's won just one title since her return, a minor one in China. But she's been improving in recent weeks; her record on clay over the past year now is up to 9-3. She has looked really dangerous after her first-round match with qualifier Richel Hogenkamp nearly ended in disaster. But as is so often the case when a player returns to win from the brink of defeat, she appears confident, relaxed and full of resolve.

At times, this may appear like a match between a player and her doppelganger. Both women are long and lean, given to first-strike tennis based on aggressive serving and pounding forehands from on or inside the baseline. Going into Roland Garros, Pliskova was the 2018 tour leader, with 198 aces. Sharapova is more of a spot server now, but she still hits it big. The more effective returner will have a great edge in this one, especially if she can also win the battle of the unforced errors.

Prediction: toss-up
