There was a period of time that they checked bag tickets at Mueller.  That might have been a while ago, though.

Yeah, recall them doing that when we first flew into Mueller 64 years ago….

This is dumb af. The toy would dip out to toy heaven and be played with by all the angel children in heaven going back to the dawn of creation. Kids that spent thousands of years with crude hand made toys or dolls suddenly get a Buzz Light year.

I'll never understand this beef. Have you never owned a truck(which park better in reverse in some situations) or loaded Any vehicle for a road trip? It's so much easier. I will do my thing down flip it and reverse it for bigger trips with my wives car when when she doesnt back in; more time for backing in later-amirite?

I refuse to choose between Princess Bride and PT&A.
I went to the Live Showing of this at the Paramount with Cary Ewles q and a after; it was fantastic. I walked away appreciating the movie even more. That place needs renovation bc it was quite dusty.

Andy might be into that. If surly has taught me nothing else, it’s that everything is someone’s fetish. And that most of you express your latent homosexuality by fantasizing about butt stuff. Let your freak flags fly.

Yeah this.  I don't do it a lot, but if I've stuff to load into the back of the truck...I'll select a spot farther away from the store so I can take my time to get the vehicle backed up proper without a buncha pedestrians.  And that way I can take my sweet time loading mulch or a bunch of groceries without people waiting on me to get my old ass out of the way.  Plus you can usually grab a shaded spot by parking farther away since they tend to plant more trees in the egress/ingress areas of retail/strip centers/hardware stores/etc.

My biggest parking pet peeve is no matter how far away I park, and how many spaces I leave on either side of me.  Invariably, someone will park right next to me despite there being 100 open spaces.  I don't get it.

So you back your truck into a spot....so you can load a ton of shit into the back of your truck. You plus this thing are shocking.

Most of the places I go to for lawn shit and gear are in these localized sets of strip centers (Lowe's, HEB, et. al).  And between the aisles, they have narrow walkways or gravel/grass islands.  So you can take your time, I can have my little girls help me out without worrying about a car hitting 'em.  I can take my time and not have some dipshit waiting on my spot impatiently.  Plus they put more trees out towards the back of the aisles so vehicle doesn't get as hot while we're shopping.  It's not rocket surgery.  I think you said we met once and you seem really butt-hurt about all my posts, but when you have kids with you---it's nice to back up so they can help load the groceries or plants or whatever without having to worry about some texting driver clip one of 'em if I'm parked the other way.

Yeah, I park almost at the end of every aisle.  I know most cars/trucks have sensors now, but driver's are dicking around on their phones.  But the thing I've really noticed, at least in Austin, is I don't like being up front with the more congested spots with the kids because of all the EV's we have here.  You can't fucking tell when those things are backing up anymore because they don't make any noise in reverse.  Church, our stores, kids' school---it's literally about 50% EV's of all makes and models and maybe it's my middle age hearing, but I just can't discern when one is backing up or even coming towards us.  Obviously you look up, but in a parking lot---you're usually focused on watching the kids, not all the vehicles.  Even though you park farther away, and have to walk the kids past more vehicles, you can quickly ascertain who has closed their trunk of their doors, and is about to back up, and make a plan to cross to the other side or take the walkway or whatever.  Instead of just being close up and having no idea which of those 6 cars is about to pull out.

Almost makes you miss the days of the creepy windowless diesel van that at least had the decency to announce itself with the fumes.

Man, the only time I pull nose in anymore is when I need to load the bed with something.  If I back in, it's almost guaranteed some soccer mom in a SUV will pull her shit as close as possible to my rear bumper, making dropping the tailgate a near impossible task, yet alone loading it.  I also try my hardest to avoid parking near the end of any row, as there are way too many clowns that take the wide turn and clip the car on the end.  Parking towards the back of the parking lot, people just cut through to the next row, and your car just became an obstacle.  Mid row parking where it's roughly every other car, as well as the occasional island where you can park next to a curb, that's a solid win.  I've even got my wife trained to do the same.  Cuts the odds of a door ding down by 60% or so (given you hug the curb tightly).

I'm pretty sure if Sid can mutilate them and blow them up, the only way they can really die is to be incinerated.

Yeah, the goofy turns thing is a good point.  I was simply referring to the handful of retail centers where we do 90% of our shopping.  Every other aisle has a gravel walkway between rows so you don’t have to worry about somebody parking on top of your tail.  And I feel safer with the girls back there helping me pack stuff up than if they were in the actual aisle with some deadly silent Tesla creeping through.

Old man yells at cloud.  It really does seem like driving/parking etiquette has gotten decidedly worse since pandemic ended.

Every time I park somewhere with several empty spaces on either side of my little Civic, this happens….
