And no QB to make it work like Mahomes. I hope they are looking for a new QB. Tua is not that guy. This is the kind of move you make when you have the QB in place.

Also, this seems like a weird move for KC. Windows are short in the NFL. They are in their prime to keep competing. As long as they have Mahomes/Hill/Kelce, they can overcome a lot and keep competing. Yes, they gain a lot of draft capital but we all know how hit or miss that is. Losing Hill puts a big dent in how that offense works. He is one of the best deep threats in the game. He stretched the field big time. Without the worry of his speed and threat, is Kelce now as effective? We will see. They did add McCaffery and Juju Schuster. Seems those moves were being made to offset the eventual loss of Hill they knew was looming.

They drafted Hill in the 5th round, they probably are confident they can replace him, Kelce is the piece they can't replace as easily but we'll see.

That’s a ridiculous amount for Miami to pay. I’m sure there will be a huge new contract to go along with all those lost draft picks. Miami isn’t on the brink of being a Super Bowl contender. Tua is still their QB.

They needed someone fast to get his errant passes before they were intercepted.

Hill went so low because of his domestic abuse history at OkSt. Not a lot of guys with Hill's speed and ability available anywhere in the draft, let alone the 5th round. They got a shit ton for him, so I'm not saying its a bad trade. But replacing a 28 year old, 6 X 1st or 2nd team all-pro isnt something thats a slam dunk.

Makes more sense if he's the final piece to the puzzle, all those picks and money. All it did was make them, possibly,  a playoff team. Odds to win AFC now at 20-1. Guess they didn't see much in this year's draft,  but still.

Good luck in Miami with a average at best QB. I’m not even sure that Tua can throw it far enough for Hill to run under.

Should've fixed the offensive line instead of giving up all those picks and cap space for Hill.  Tua might be fine as a qb with a Kirk Cousins-like ceiling, but he's not gonna get that chance with no pass protection, no matter who his receivers are.

They signed the best tackle on the market

Wide receivers are much easier to replace in the NFL especially when you have an elite QB. Having Hill and Waddle will help whoever the next QB is in Miami

Tua doesn't have a Kirk Cousins like ceiling.  He's got more of a Sage Rosenfels/Matt Leinart ceiling.

I could  be convinced that selling at the market high is the right move for KC, as they did get a lot of picks. But my guess is they wont replace Hill with a guy that is capable of being all-pro 6 years in a row.

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-receiving-yards-last-6-seasons

We'll see how easy it is for them to replace his production. There are hundreds of receivers in the NFL, but not too many that even come close to his speed. I'm skeptical that Juju is gonna post Tyreke Hill numbers. He's fast, but not....

I think Mahomes and Kelce are going to miss Hill more than Hill misses them. Who is going to be the deep threat and outrun double teams? Juju?

Hill turned some little dinks into 80 yard bombs on the stat sheet for Mahomes, really saved what should have been a down season for him. He's a perfect type for Tua along with Waddle, more of a game manager type, feed the ball to a playmaker and let him do his thing.

Abusers seem to be in high demand in today's NFL.

Ju Ju doesn't seem to have the same Ju Juice of his early years. Should be a decent slot guy, but without the same explosiveness. Price was too damn high.

Chiefs will find adequate receivers with all those picks. 4 years $120m. No way. That kind of huge investment in a W/R doesn’t pay off. QB, OL, Edge, CBs is where your money should go. A great QB can make good receivers better. A great W/R can’t do shit for a mediocre QB.

There’s probably no one like Hill out there.

But he’s always been a bit of a ticking time bomb. He is aging. Andy Reid May have been the perfect offense for him.

He can outrun DBs to the house. But Also let’s not forget that pick versus the Bengals that ultimately led to the winning score hit him right in the hands. And in the prior year Super Bowl, he dropped a TD that hit him right between the eyes.

So for the Chiefs their #2 WR was below average. What they want is JuJu and their next WR to match the production of this years top two. That’s very possible, but I’m not certain who that other guy will be.

That's likely KC's rationale, and its certainly possible they can replace most/all of the production with a couple of guys. The other point to consider is how much just having Hill (and his speed) on the field forces DCs to adjust their schemes in a way that they wouldn't do for other receivers. Hill makes plays that seem  he is on cheat mode blazing by everyone. I imagine DC's in the AFC West are thrilled at this development.

One day Hill will get old and slow, then he will just be a $30M child beater.

When you have a $40+M QB, there are only so many other shiny toys you fit in your salary cap. The JuJu contract was pretty cheap. As someone else said, Kelce is likelymore irreplaceable than Hill. They will probably pick a burner WR with one of their first 3 picks and keep their window open longer than giving Hill $120M.

No doubt.

Andy may not be great at winning Super Bowls, but he’ll find a way to compete. Hardman is fast so it’s possible he can take on some of the load. He’s no Hill, but he has enough talent to be a deep threat. He’s already good at the jet sweep game. I don’t think they view him as #2 though. The Chiefs pull 3 starters out of those picks it’ll be a win for them.

Hill was more than just speed. The Raiders tried to draft on speed alone and failed miserably. Speed is everywhere in the NFL.

Chiefs defense was hard to defend because you had to account for both Hill and Kelce. Curious how Kelce is now that they can just focus on him the most and dare the rest to beat them.

The wide receivers at the NFL Combine were historically fast

https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nfl-combine-wide-receiver-40-times-tyquan-thornton-so-dang-fast

In 2019, seven wide receivers ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in under 4.4 seconds. It was a record that only lasted three years before being broken.

A historic number of wideouts torched the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium, led by Baylor wideout Tyquan Thornton and his event-record 4.21-second sprint down the sideline. He was one of three receivers to break the 4.3s barrier and twelve to run under 4.4 in general as Rich Eisen and Daniel Jeremiah, calling the event live on NFL Network, could only reel off a litany of “wows.”

Here are the 12 top performers who may have redefined the meaning of elite wideout speed in Indianapolis — or who may have proven the Combine’s timing devices are just slightly off.

We all know why Hill was drafted in the 5th.  It wasn't for a lack of talent.

Yep.  Chefs offense is easier to defend without having to account for Hill.  Kelce will get a lot more attention.

"At first glance, we thought it wasn't much of a big deal, but after going to see the damage and witnessing it in-person and spending time with fire inspectors and people from our stadium and the reclamation team that came in, it was a significant event," Ellis said, via the Denver Post.

What makes the repairs a bit more complicated and what may cause them to not be fixed in time for the regular season is due to the steel risers that are used in the stadium.

"The heat from the fire, once it got going, those risers buckled," Ellis said. "We'll have to re-fabricate those steel risers in those particular sections and with supply-chain issues around the world and each one is a different dimension because of the way the seating bowl is constructed and contoured, it will take some time to get those replaced and they will have to be replaced."

The damage sounds worse than I imagined, when I just thought it was some seats getting torched.

That’ll work until some team hikes the ball over the QBs head in a playoff game because he was making an audible resulting in a safety causing a controversial talking point until the next OT rule change to be fairer than this one

The New Orleans Saints' quarterback room will have a new look in 2022.

The Saints agreed to terms with veteran Andy Dalton to presumably serve as Jameis Winston's backup, it was announced. Meanwhile, coach Dennis Allen confirmed Tuesday that New Orleans plans to use Taysom Hill primarily as a tight end.

----

Hill signed a unique contract extension with the Saints in November that was scheduled to pay him $40 million over four years if he remains in a non-quarterback role, but could be worth up to $95 million if he became the starting QB and reached certain benchmarks.

Always thought Arians was overrated as a head coach. Good to see Bowles get another chance with a healthier franchise and see how he does... though it's gonna be tough if Brady retires again and a large chunk of team leaves with him.
