random thinking this morning: i predict a female president will feel a need to overcorrect on tough guy / foreign policy image. kamala is smart enough to do that by telling a bunch of nato folks we want orders on our desk for f-15s by the end of the day.  this could really be excellent.

Kamala is exactly who Putin did not want. I could see her being more aggressive than any man who has ever held the office. I love this move so much.

She's dealt with gangsters before.

This AFU foray into the Kursk Oblast in Russia is huge:

2 brigades is probably (depending on AFU org) 10,000-15,000 troops!

OSINT claims the objective is the Kursk Nuclear power plant...

Depending on the goal, this thrust, if it continues,
>will pull Russian forces into Kursk, and away from other parts of the fight.
>cut vital RR connections for supplies to Russian troops on the Kharkiv front
>grab Russian land for negotiations to end war
>destroy Russian equipment/personnel/infrastructure
>force redeployment of limited Russian resources to full border

Wouldn’t that be something?  Fucking Prigozhin could’ve done it with one ragtag group of mercenaries….

Russia has always won in the past by taking advantage of the long supply lines needed by invaders. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Kursk seems like an ambitious but achievable goal right now.

Hey, man, you really ought to head over to the main thread in DT and join in the discussion; it's a very pro-Ukraine thread that moves pretty fast when things are hopping. You'll probably need to go back 3-4 pages, though, to get up-to-date from yesterday and today. You'd be most welcome over there.

Personally, I tend to reserve my posting in this thread to talk shit about asshole Americans/Euros who don't support Ukraine in this war.

And after months of cussing and discussing on Ukraine this is drawing no interest?  Geeze Louise

There's a very active thread in DT. I'm not sure why the CR thread exists. Or I forgot.

If we had social media around in the 80s, I don't know how many of us would have grown up thinking Reagan was The Man.

We'd probably be fixated on how good of a blowjob Nancy could give.

Posting in the CR the first time in a few years with a mea culpa.  After voting R since I was 18, then Libertarian since 2012, I’m about to vote for Kamala Harris.  I’m almost entirely Libertarian other than Ukraine.  And almost not Democrat…other than Ukraine.

I was raised a (sorry for this) Reagan Republican and was (sorry again) indoctrinated by my rural school teachers to hate the Russians.  So here I am, voting Democrat.  I’m as surprised as you.

I don’t wanna think about all the other issues of the Democrat party.  Just wanna close my else and do it.  Please don’t rub it in.

Thx

Parliament.  Life-long hater of Communists and Russians.  Fuck them all to Hell.

If it makes it go down any easier, I think the only way you get your party back is if Trump loses.

Why do you guys think Trump is Pro Putin?

1) Russian mafia money laundering ties from back in the day

2) Zelensky is supported by Biden and Kamala so in turn Zelensky is not an ally. Trump also got impeached over Ukraine.

3) Trump loves authoritarian dictators

4) All of the above

5) Other

Zelensky refused to go along with Trump’s sham investigation of Biden’s imaginary connection to Ukrainian corruption. (Remember why Trump was impeached the first time.) Trump holds grudges. He hates Zelensky.

I think it’s #1 but I’m always surprised I don’t see it written about, talked about on podcasts, etc.  Maybe the media exhausted themselves over it in 2018 and I was paying less attention.

I’ve probably listened to Tim Miller on the Bulwark podcast and Pod Save America 80 hours over the last month and they’ve definitely talked about #2-#5 but nothing on Russian “investments”.

A lot of people have the mistaken impression, because the Dems responded incompetently to the Mueller report, that there was actually nothing to the idea that Trump had any serious connections to Russia.

Miller’s not a Dem and most of his guests are Never-Trumper Republicans.  It’s really weird-I think it’s a strong place to attack, particularly coming from the right.

It is crazy, right?

The Christian conservative right led the communist scare and anti-Russian propaganda in the United States for decades.

Now, they are the Russian propaganda.

Zelenskyy is leading his nation against a determined and immoral aggressor. His people’s fate depend on U.S. largesse.  It’s shameful that we as a nation are forcing him to do this, but this is what leadership looks like.  He can’t afford to bet the house on Harris.

There is such a thing as hedging your bets, another on throwing money away, its like he is betting the moneyline on the underdog but asking the house to keep the winnings if they do win.

Donald Trump will follow Russia in anything it wants, that is about as certain as the sun rises.

I think the real explanation is that the GOP congresscritters (who BTW lick benito's ass daily) demanded he do it if they want their votes.

I think that's a better hypothesis.  He knows he'll never get Trump to do the right thing, but some MAGA idiot congresscritters are still salvageable for his purposes (vote yes on weapons funding).
