"The corn was really special."

I love John Noble. He is great at playing slightly daffy characters with a lot of depth. He was the best character on Fringe.

Burt is totally a Lumon higher-up.

I definitely think they are hinting at Helly/Helena being pregnant, especially with Fields mentioning his concern about Burt bringing home STDs from his unprotected work dalliances. Someone like Helena seems like she'd be on birth control, but with Mark being so important to Lumon for unknown reasons, maybe she wants to get knocked up by him. Or just as a fuck you to her dad.

The restaurant mark and Helena we're at was called zufu. It means grandfather in Chinese.  The neon sign was broken to where only "fu" was lit.  Fu by itself means father.

I really appreciate the speed in their story telling. Last week Milchick threatened iMark with the whole "you tell Helly you fuck her outie yet?", and this week iMark talks to Helly about banging Helena.

Spoiler

I bet Helly is knocked up, when she stalked oMark to Zufu (which translates to grandfather) she talked about taking Mark to meet her dad - the baby's grandfather. When he left, the sign flickered to just say "fu" behind oMark as he walked to his car, which translates to "father"

Poor oMark, now two versions of Helena have banged him, but he doesn't remember any of it

Edit: I just noticed gsoda said the same thing few posts up /facepalm

The scene with Dylan G and his outie's wife made me a little sad. Agree with someone upthread who said the innies are like teenagers right now. Feels like that portends to some violent outbursts happening soon. The power structure is so interesting at Lumen because Milcheck took the performance review so hard when it was the evaluation and experiences of a child.

And Attila (name of episode) etymology also traces back to “father” in gothic.

And all the babies in the intro sequence.

This show is incredible. So much attention to detail.

Clearly Helena is trying to test how re-integrated Mark S. is. I also agree with the prevailing theory that she/they is/are pregnant. So much exploration of innies and outies being distinct individuals - I also enjoyed the introduction of the theological implications of separate souls, access to Heaven, etc.

I think the Gemma project’s ultimate end game is to “re-animate” the Eagan lineage through innie vessels. “Cold Harbor” could refer to long-dead Eagans being in cold storage and getting their consciousness revived through the project/innies. Somewhat like a delayed

So if father Egan was a twin with dieter. Is this foreshadowing to Helena now having twins but one conceived with her outie controlling the situation and one conceived with her innie controlling?

Weird shit.

I think she does. We never re-visited the scene after I-Mark and Hallie banged and he passed out frothing at the mouth on the severed floor. Surely that will raise suspicions and (while it’s not exactly clear with their ambiguity about time) I think the restaurant scene was after he passed out.

Also, the giant who did Milchick’s performance review was spying on Mark in the diner earlier this season, so I definitely think they know something is up.

I have an even weirder thought. What if the “twin” was never real and was his sinful, “woe” id/ego, and Helly/Helena will have a son that is two separate people, depending on whether their mother is Helena or Helly in the moment? So they create a severed person without having to implant a chip.

His innie wouldn't know.

Wouldn’t know what? That he’s being re-integrated? Why would that matter in the Chinese restaurant scene? I thought the question is whether Helena has suspicions he is reintegrating.

I've always figured that the "twin" wasn't so much a twin as a devil on Keir's shoulder. That the point of the story was that Keir vanquished his more unsavory half and then became who he was, and that the story was more of a fable than a real occurrence. But your theory about creating a severed person without implanting a chip is an interesting one.

Mark is an Eagan.  The inbreeding has commenced.

Spoiler

But wouldn't Outtie Mark and Devon already know this?

That's some original Star Wars trilogy stuff.

One thing is for damned sure - Lumon is WAAAYYYYY behind on following child labor laws 🙂.  "Miss" Huang should be at the Jr High sitting in her Social Studies class, not working on the Severed floor....

I don't know how old she's supposed to be, but the actress playing her is 18.

Yep.  She’s a freshman at Northwestern. That’s gotta be crazy having Miss Huang in your class.

The “inside the episode” segment after the last episode was interesting. Not from a plot point of view, but from an actor’s perspective.  Christopher Walken talked about how he and Fields were supposed to be this couple for 30 or 40 years, yet Walken first met John Noble (who plays Fields) the day of the dinner shoot.  So it was challenging for him to convey to the audience the little nuances of life partners when he just met the guy earlier in the day.  But Walken said he’d worked with Turturro on 6 other projects, so they’ve had a nice rapport.

I got the feeling she just wanted some more action and thought she could get with the outie too.

She could just be weird like her family too.  I mean every other Egan we’ve seen is not right in the head. Maybe this is her oddity showing up.

That one was visually fantastic. I'm not exactly sure what the hell is going on, or why, other than creepy-ass medical experimentation.

But Irving was right, Lumon needs to burn.

Also the scene at the beginning of Devon just crouching and crying really exemplifies how this show let's the characters breathe and "be natural" to the audience. Not sure why, it struck me as perfect.

I also just noticed the episode lengths. This one is 50 minutes, about what the others have been. Next week's is only 37 minutes.

This is the first time they've shown the outies' world to be in any season besides winter.

The four people in what I'm calling the photo-negative version of the MDR room - were those the clones we saw during Woe's Hollow?

Now we are digging into what’s really going on.   All those rooms are names that Mark has been data mining.  We still don’t know how exactly Gemma got to the lower floor.   When the cops showed up at marks after Gemma’s “crash”I was expecting one to be Burt   Might still be.

Another thing about the visuals/lighting - the scene where Mark walks to the door as the cops show up was the first time I recognized the inside of his house. I wasn't even sure it was the same place until then. It's like he's kept it dark and quiet inside since the day she "died."

I don't think that was the same house. The kitchen was so different.
